It's the O2 deal for existing customers - £2.08 it says - only if your exchange is O2 LLU though.0 -
I've just found the forum and have just come on to say....NEVER BE TEMPTED TO USE TALKTALK. The introductory deals look good but you are sucked into an organisation where customer service is so bad it takes your breath away....and then when you try to leave...OMG....let's just say it become mysteriously difficult, mistakes are made, conversations not recorded on the system, etc. I was battling for weeks to effect a simple change of provider. The overwhelming impression is that TT makes it as hard as possible for customers to leave, because otherwise they'd be fleeing in droves.
I keep being tempted by them - it does to help that talktalk are the only LLU in my exchange :-( and the only way I can get adsl2+! But their reputation for bad service is absolutely monumental.
However I may have found an answer in the shape of a reseller. So I can get the speed without dealing directly with talktalk - albeit sadly without the massive discounts they offer lol but no more expensive than my current service (which now doesn't meet my needs).
Thanks for the reminder why I don't want to switch directly to them!0 -

I only left Talk Talk after getting fed up with the continuous sales pitches and the temptation through this site to save about £4 per month. It was a big mistake.
At the time all worked well, no drop outs, speeds between 4 and 5 meg with no additional charges.
I changed to Plus Net and my connection dropped to 225kbps for 3 1/2 weeks while they tried to sort out my problem. Now resolved, I only get 3meg connection and drop outs every hour or two. This took over 5 hours on the phone and I had to take a day off work to achieve. There has been no offer of refund for my loss of connection for those 3 1/2 weeks or time spent on the phone trying to sort this out (all the time being told its not their fault but their supplier(bt)). Unfortunately the first customer service member I spoke to was terrible and even tried to quote the small print to me but I have since spoken to a couple of much nicer people to deal with who do seem to care. Tech support with Plus net has always been good throughout, apart from the 20 min wait to speak to anyone. I've just been informed I've gone over my 10gig download limit so have to pay an extra £5 per 5 gig. It hasn't been a good experience and has definitely not been worth it financially. Now if I leave before a year is up I have to pay for the router and the set up fee so about £65. (after some nice interaction by customer services I have managed to return the router)
Cost of change so far over 5 hrs on the phone, 1 day off work -(and another still needed) bill +£5 for going over the limit (that was my son on u tube at the weekend) plus leaving early set up charge£25
What I have found out is that these deals don't always work out as you expect and customer service seems to be down to your luck.
p.s. I found it very easy to leave talktalk and apart from the accent never had a problem with their customer services.0 -
Hi is it worth swapping from virgin to primus £15 bb and line rental bundle deal?
Have landline and bb with virgin and paying about £25 a month - dont really use home phone that much as we have loads of free minutes into contract mobiles....
Worried about saving money but getting a rubbish internet connection as I work from home a lot and we definately use the laptop more than the phone!
Anyone experiences from peope who have swapped over? Virgin happy to let me leave and only willing to go down to £21 a month
many thanks in advance0 -

We are in the same position. We only need phone line and broadband so are ditching the TV package but Virgin are holding out at £21.
I was quite happy to go with Primus on Martins recomendation and the fact that there customer service ratings were so high but I can't find any other website with even a hint of a good review of their services.
It actually grieves me to leave Virgin because their service has been faultless over the 6 or 7 years that we've been with them. We are looking to go with Plusnet now unless we get any kind offer from Virgin but dont know how long i should hang out for.0 -

I'm with you on this one, guys, looking for a cheaper BB and landline package and was going to follow Martin's recommendation for Primus Saver on MSE main page, very tempting, but reviews for Primus online are very bad, so any advise would be greatly appreciated, alternatively I'm looking at Plusnet Value.0 -
I was looking at taking an O2 broadband package but was disappointed to see the £120 cashback is no longer available. Current rates are about £25 and I think this should be amended in the article. I'm sad as to how expensive all these are. There aren't any great offers. I use a fair amount of iplayer etc online but don't want a landline, I've had a virgin package before as I didn't need a landline for that but I'm sad as to how expensive these are atmSealed Pot Challenge #239

Have to agree with this one, I don't understand why the line rental is so expensive, it costs more than the broadband, I'm currently with Utility Warehouse and paying £22 a month for Boadband and Phone, but this doesn't include weekend or evening calls, and caller ID, bit expensive for what it is is imo, thinking of switching to Primus or Plusnet, Primus' offer is quite tempting, but the provider has very bad reviews in respect of Customer services and in general, so I'm now more inclined to go with Plusnet, because there's fair amount of people who had positive experience with them and they have more or less reasonably priced offers, just hope the quality of service is good...also TCB has a cashback offer of £39.14 for new BB and phone customers.0
