How can one tell whether ones exchange is bundled or unbundled?
And Ratbert: Are you talking about the O2 Basics or All-Rounder?
ThanksI have O2 but I'm on one of those many exchanges which is not "unbundled". I need an unlimited service as I work from home and have kids.
I got a nasty call from O2 last month saying they were going to cut us off because we are using too much, apparently I'd downloaded 50GB in a month. The limit is 40GB, now I purchased an unlimited service, so I argued with the guy they were in breach of contract. He said but there's a fair use policy, and tried to claim I was a bad citizen because I'd used more than my whack. So I asked at what time of day did I screw others using the service. He couldn't tell me. All he said was you went over the 40GB limit. And if I did it again then my service would be terminated. Nice eh!
So could Martin's elves please note this somewhere, rather than implying O2 is a no brainer. And the limit is 40GB not the generous looking 100GB!
I've also found the iPlayer is unusable in the evenings due to the aggressive traffic shaping.
Incidentally, my service died last week and was off for 3 days, I thought the customer service really sucked, it took nearly 3 hours to diagnose the problem, during which I called back 3 times and was cut off once by them. They said they'd call me back but never did, so I had to call them each day to get an update. Finally on day 3 I suggested retrying one of the initial steps and the fault had cleared, they were just about to get permission to send a BT engineer out, which would have taken a further 3 days to happen. Either something timed out in the 3 days it was off which reset everything, or BT had done something in the exchange. Who knows.
So for all those good folks who get "invested" in by BT, spare a thought for the large group of have not's who are strangled by no investment, so I pay more for my broadband have less choice and an infer service. Another post code lottery system!0 -

It's still called the "All Rounder" and checking O2 it promotes for this service:
Music and TV over the internet
I'll certainly be giving them a call to ask about iPlayer compatibility with their traffic shaping policy before I switch to them!0 -
I think the article is incorrect. While you can get £101 cash back for signing up to the all rounder deal, to get the six months free you have to call up, thus stopping the cashback from working. Therefore, I went down the default route and ordered online and took the normal three month free deal they are doing. Makes a years broadband £8 :-)0

The article on O2... what happens if you are already with O2 for broadband? I'm guessing you can't then do this...0

Hi all,
we were already 02 customers both for broadband and mobile, and as we qualified, we took advantage of the £50 cashback/6months free/£12.50 all rounder package in July.
All went smoothly setup wise.
However i did receive an email last month charging me 40p...
And then another one saying my free period was coming to an end after TWO months.
I sent a query email and O2 said they could find no record of me being put on the 6month package....
I then had to phone them up and go through my emails and the SimplifyDigital site which luckliy still had the promo running (had it not been i think it would have taken a lot longer to resolve!!)
o2 saw that i had fulfilled all the criteria (length of service etc) and had phone records of me calling up that day (or rather being transfered from SimplifyDigital).
It will be interesting to see whether i get any issues with the cashback coming through from SD.
SO just a warning--make sure you keep on top of these offers because i suspect that they hope customers miss them becasue of inertia or spam filters...!0 -

Also being an O2 customer (broadband and mobile), can anyone at MSE Towers help answer mermaid85's question - will current O2 broadband customers get the cash back?
When you click through from topcashback, O2 says you have to log in to upgrade - will this break the link to the cash back?0 -
I've just found the forum and have just come on to say....NEVER BE TEMPTED TO USE TALKTALK. The introductory deals look good but you are sucked into an organisation where customer service is so bad it takes your breath away....and then when you try to leave...OMG....let's just say it become mysteriously difficult, mistakes are made, conversations not recorded on the system, etc. I was battling for weeks to effect a simple change of provider. The overwhelming impression is that TT makes it as hard as possible for customers to leave, because otherwise they'd be fleeing in droves.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe
