The T&C relating to PAYG usage...
http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/broadband5 Pay & Go Customers - Minimum Top-Up Requirement
5.1 If you’re a Pay & Go customer and sign-up to a discounted O2 Home Broadband package you need to keep your O2 Pay & Go mobile active (i.e. able to make and receive calls) and satisfy a minimum top-up requirement to keep the discount after your first month of O2 Home Broadband.
5.2 The details of the minimum top-up requirements are:
The O2 Pay & Go mobile used to qualify for the discounted Home Broadband is topped-up by a total at least £10 in the three month period prior to each month’s Home Broadband top-up date (this will always be 3 days before your broadband bill date). This means that if you are due to receive your Home Broadband bill on 4th of each month, then you must make sure your Pay & Go mobile is topped up a total of at least £10 in the three months prior to the 1st of each month (your Home Broadband Top Up Date)

And after 12 months, would plusnet be my best bet then?
This is exactly what I want (I'm currently BT Landline and o2 Broadband) - I've contacted Primus to see if this will affect my o2 broadband and they advised me to contact o2.
I did, and whilst they said it may techinicaly be possible to have Primus as the landline providor, it breaks the T&C's of your o2 broadband.
So.. I *think* it's possible but you run the risk of loosing your o2 Broadband if they find out (and presumably, you'll still have to pay your broadband charge for the contract periord - currently 12 months).Using MSE Feb 09, Forums since Dec 090 -
Actually, Waqasahmed.. I note you're paying £25 a month with Virgin,
If you go with Primus and o2 (Risky) - It costs £18 per month (Primus £10, o2 £8)
If you go with BT and o2 It costs £29 per month (BT £21, o2 £8)
If you don't want to risk a termination of service but going with Primus/o2, Virgin Media is better for you than BT/o2Using MSE Feb 09, Forums since Dec 090 -
anyone get a letter from talktalk,
i am with Tiscali '7years or more', now talktalk, and been told that from 10th Jan 2010 my broadband will be £19.99 a month instead of £14.99 if i dont want or upgrade to Weekend Talk. which i dont as i have just gone with the post office, better deal,'phone calls' and also letter says to keep the price at £14.99 > a month upgrade to weekend talk . notice the > states at the back of letter 18 month contract applies.0 -
I am in the same shoes as 'buckrogers'. It is infuriating that this sort of thing is allowed. Basically forced to pay a fiver a month more unless I take up their phone service. There is no way I will take up talk talk with my arm twisted. Plusnet or uk online seem to be the only options I can see that may be ok , but not sure on their reliability of systems.,
One thing that strikes me is the fact that the broadband market does seem to be monopolised by bt and a couple of others that really all charge about the same , pretty much a fixed market.Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -

Many thanks. and thanks to the person who rang O2 up for O2 to tell them its against their t's and c's. VM might just be my best bet then0 -
i had a call from bt on friday doing a deal for bb , i'm with primus saver at the mo 1mb for £14 per month , my local exchange is not unbundled the bt deal was a couple of £s cheaper but i believe they have a 10gb download limit , where as i have to presume that primus don't , i have to teenage daughters who youtube etc and appear to be permanently watching some show etc and i've never exceeded any limits so i don't think that 10gb would last per month without going over he limit , i've asked primus if they would upgrade me to a higher speed ,0

i rang them up today and asked for a mac number, going to go with Post office for broadband as well. cant get any others not in the right area :-( miss out on the deals.
talktalk was not only going to charge me extra if i didnt take the Weekend talk but also change my broadband package from Unlimited to a 40gb a month download allowance, so not only having to paid extra but getting less also.
with 3 kids using laptops and forever on internet, it was no good to me, so just waiting to recive my mac number which they said would be emailed and text to me.0 -
Unfortunately....& seriously so.....I live in an area where I can't be provided with Broadband through my telephone line, and don't have cable in the area.
What i hear you ask? You must be out in a little village in the countryside?
No, i'm not. I'm in a big town called Stevenage on a new development in Great Ashby, which has only been built around 6 years ago.
Apparently BT when laying in cables, laid in fibre optic, but the wrong sort to be able to get fibre optic broadband on, and didn't put enough copper overlay to supply all the houses on the development with broadband. More annoyingly so is the fact that my next door neighbour has BT Broadband (1 of the lucky ones) although at very slow speed.
So when do people like myself get a comparison for mobile broadband?0 -
What are Mac and Linux users supposed to use? (I have Windows, Mac and Linux on my broadband connection!)0
