Hi there,
I am looking to get O2 Broadband. I see that they offer it for £7.50 per month if you are an O2 customer already. I do have an O2 phone, but it’s a work phone so my company pays the bill.
Does anyone know whether this makes me an O2 customer and therefore eligible for the discount, or would I be classified as a non-O2 customer and have to pay the £12.50 per month?
Thanks to anyone who can help….0 -

As long as you have an O2 number it doesn't actually matter who it belongs to - friend, family or workplace.
As long as you are able to get the text that they send it will be fine.0 -
That's great. Thank you very much!0

Hi all
Can anyone help me please?
I have been with Pipex for about 4 yrs and when I rang up to leave about 2-3 yrs ago they offered me broadband and Anytime Calls for £9.99 a month which was a great deal so I have stayed with them ever since.
I got a letter yesterday saying that it is now going up to £18.98 a month  so nearly double . Obviously I was lucky to have been on such a good deal - I have phoned Pipex to see if they will do anything better but they said no! So I said right I'm changing.......but.......
I thought it would be easy to get a good deal but now I have looked into it we are not LLU? so can't get any of the cheap deals even if we change line rental to the company too - for example Talk Talk (who seem to have "swallowed" loads of other ISP's?!) want £37.48 a month for line rental, broadband and all calls
Does anyone have any other tips or advice on how to get a good/cheap deal and which other comapnies to try when you can't get any of the "cheap" services?

Does "snipping" the redundant wires in the connection to your extension phones work for cable supplied services?
Could different routers give better results? I changed from a "Voyager 210" to a second hand "Netgear" and that sorted out the apparent faults on the line.

When does "samknows" think you will be LLU ?
(Translation: when is BT going to allow other firms to put their kit in the BT exchange ?)0 -

Not sure bit confusing this LLU lark!
Do you think this is referring to it or something else?
From Sam knows:
BT Wholesale WBC has set an enablement date of 31/03/2011 for the exchange.0 -

No the cable BB is nothing at all to do with the telphone line - it comes through on a separate cable.Could different routers give better results? I changed from a "Voyager 210" to a second hand "Netgear" and that sorted out the apparent faults on the line.
With cable BB you have a cable modem plus (if you want it) a separate router. The speedtests are exactly the same whether done on a PC directly attached to the modem or one connected via a router.
Basically there is nothing that can be done apart from Virgin updating their old, equipment wise, ex NTL areas. Problem is they don't want to spend the money.0 -

I have just had the same letter, I was with toucan originally and then got moved to pipex, but still kept paying the same prices as I did when I was with toucan = £14.99 line rental + free eve and weekend calls + 8MB net.
Rang them up said look Im not happy with this, please retain me or I will leave.... they wouldn't so I asked for a MAC code.
Now had to go back to BT (which will cost me £11.54 PM and opted for o2 broadband @ £7.50 PM (as I have an o2 number).
I went thru TCB - tracked £75 so basically my net is free for a year, and pipex have done me a favour as now im paying basically £11.54 a month all in.
I hope you manage to find something, is Sky not an option for you?0 -

For a while I have considered leaving Virgin as I was paying £31pm for a 20Mb BB service that I was rarely getting the full speed from and a phone that I never used as I have a BT line.
However as I am quite a distance away from the BT exchange I could never get a decent speed via BT. However I started looking at O2 and as it's LLU I could get around 7Mb for only £7.50. It seemed daft to pay £31pm when I could pay £7.50.
So when the 2 months free came back to O2 plus the £75 cashback making it £0 for a whole year I decided to give O2 a go and see how it went. Everything seemed fine and I phoned up Virgin and cancelled both my phone and BB - cancellation was booked for 17th Feb.
Two days after that Virgin started phoning me to persuade me to stay with them. Eventually they offered 10MB BB with XL phone ( so anytime calls ) for £13.95pm with a £30 credit. That made it £11.45pm.
I therefore decided to keep it for a year to make sure everything was OK with my O2 BB, my BT phone line with BB attached as I have to have 2 Sky boxes attached to the phone line.
It might seem daft having 2 BB services but it does let me compare both thoroughly and I'm still saving almost £20pm from what I used to pay Virgin.0
