Morning all,
Mental health got in the way of a NSD last night but, its my fault for not planning ahead. I am aiming for two nsds this weekend.
Money is a little low so need to really watch my spending. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. No Spend November 2/15 and SPC 1340 -
First NSD yesterday.
Started off well eating fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch. After that things kind of fell apart but for a good reason. The boy was told two weeks ago that his firm was closing but yesterday he secured a new job at a massively increased salary and great conditions a short bus ride from his new flat. Well, wine flowed and chocolate cake was eaten. I do not feel guilty. I shall start over again today and I might just have a small tidy as well.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
I pass a homelss chap (and sometimes his 2 mates too) whenever I travel to see mum. I always give him a £1 or so. Yesterday, dd pointed out that apart from our coin, he only had coppers in his cup. And on our return journey, he didn't have his cup, as a friend was using it to drink from. We still gave him the coin, but it gave me a jolt - that he only had 1 disposable cup to use. I shall take a reusable mug for him next time I go.
Lindez - so sorry to hear about you losing you dad. Hugs.
Fmess - step away from the puppies....
Greent - how was leg0land? We found it rather jaded and a little dilapidated last time we went.
We have step dd + her family arriving in 3 weeks. So much clutter to sort... But the charity shop will benefit.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

U-using what we have in the fridge for saving money & also making sure nothing is wasted while we are away. any left over milk I will freeze. Thinking of trying to freeze some peppers but not sure if I can. Will google.
Lauren peppers are easy to freezeJust chop them up and freeze them, no need to blanch. Best to open freeze them on a baking tray, and bag them up once frozen, then you can take any quantity out of the bag to use (they don't all stick together). Use them from frozen or thawed in cooked dishes, they are not suitable for eating raw in salads after freezing as they will no longer be crisp, but fine to add to casseroles, quiche, chilli, bolognese, curry, fajitas etc

Good morning everyone :coffee:
I've had an exceptionally busy week this week so am only just getting a chance to get on here and catch up. Lots of love to everyone, and hugs to those in need.
For the first time in god knows how long, I have a written budget for the month, to the penny. Fingers crossed that I don't blow it. I had a bill of £650 for the solicitor on Thursday, which I've had to take out of the June budget, coupled with the single income.
I am pleased with myself that I am making progress and moving on though, both emotionally and financially. I have accessed my credit file, closed a couple of dormant accounts and reduced all credit limits to a sensible level in the hope that this will improve my score in preparation for applying for a mortgage. My ex appears to have found himself a place to live for the moment, and I hope that things are moving on. I am also in the middle of exam marking so there will be extra cash coming my way from that to help with starting to replenish my emergency fund which currently stands at exactly zero. I also have a bit on a credit card that I need to get rid off asap.
Bagged a nsd yesterday as I stayed in all day, marking. Sounds dull, but is exactly what I wanted and needed. So that's the first one done and out of the way.
Also working hard on improving my health. Diet and exercise is a high priority this month. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' went to the cinema today, but went to see a slightly older film where tickets for me and DS were only 2.50 each. Normally we'd buy popcorn and spend some money in the arcade, but we brought our own snacks and I purposefully didn't bring any change. A small victory!
J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. - Had NSD yesterday, so currently at 1/2. Weekdays are usually not as spendy so those are better candidates for NSDs.
U Use the food you have - husband is away and I'm having a batch cooking session tonight to build up a stash of work lunches for the freezer. Then I'll see what's left in the cupboard before planning the evening meals for next week and doing an Aldi shop tomorrow.
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. - check.
E Eating well is a form of self respect. - Check. I eat mostly whole food plant-based so this is an easy one most days.
O Offer help and encouragement - had a lovely conversation with an elderly lady on the bus.
D Debt or savings payments should be made first - all debts paid, overpaid by £333 so far this month. Money set aside for direct debits still to come out.
E Exercise - been to the park with DS and ran around like lunatics
S Set all your budgets - check
S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. - I run charity tuck shop in work so I kind of cover this daily. Have put away a set of crockery to give to my colleague for a refugee family her partner is setting up.
E Every day check in - here!
Y You are the most important person in your life. - have removed a toxic person from my life this week which feels great.0 -
