  • This is yesterday and today's post, as I've been very busy with the little angels.....

    Sorted some things out for the chairty shop yesterday, and volunteered at Pakrkun this morning.

    Did a 10k race last night and really enjoyed it.
    No nsd yet, but I'll get there.
    We've decided to have a new tonight, and had 99% of the stuff in the freezer, I had to go to get a couple of bits from l1dl and got food for lunches for the week too, for £35 (family of 5)

    Budgets are all complete, I just need to note down how much I've spent now, and keep track.

    Quick question, if I use my boots card (loyalty points) to pay for something, would that be classed as a nsd ? I tried posting this question yesterday so apologies if I did but I can't find it? :rotfl:

    NSD No 2.
    Fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch and having fish for dinner.
    Did do a very tiny bit of tidying but honestly next week it really will be necessary to have a good clean and tidy. I will do it a bit at a time though and not stress. Good news is himself tidied out some worn out clothes (unheard off in all the time I've known him) and they are now in the bin. They really were beyond use by anyone! He has also finally confessed that the fridge and freezer are full to bursting and we really need to use up what we have before buying anything else. I'm beginning to think he's been replaced by an alien!
    That's the good news. Bad news is it was the wee chap next door's birthday and I now have the biggest, most delicious piece of home made cake ever and there's still half a bottle of wine in the fridge. Would be a shame to let it go to waste, wouldn't it?
    Hope you are all well. xx
    Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Toni'sfriend - congrats to the boy!! :T

    apple - we've been to Leg0land every year since DD was 2 (she's now 20) and it's grown massively in that time. We were very disillusioned at the start of the day and then shrugged it off (still cheap day out with Tesc0CC vouchers) - but it is so much more of a corporate machine than it used to be and it seems that you are very much 4th class citizens without even the most basic of Qb0t (@£20pp (going to max £80pp that's a massive cost for the 7 of us!) Even the shop doesn't hold the appeal that it did. I'm not sure that DD and DS1 will come along if we go again (and I wouldn't go without Tesc0 vouchers!) Several of the rides weren't available at various points throughout the day, and the train and hill train also weren't running. Recent reviews are more mixed than they used to be too. I also find queues worse now - and the queue times are always way off (or were for us this time!) xx

    Hi everyone. I'm in for June. Thanks for the new challenge mothernerd.

    Thanks for may apple.

    We returned home last night from a trip to Northumberland for a week. We had fab weather and spent a lot of time on the glorious beaches.

    All budgets are ticking along nicely. I will finish catching up on the thread and read the June challenge properly.

    A Ask 'Is this necessary?' before purchasing anything/ when you make a 'to do' list (realistic/ possible). - Shopping at A5da today. Non food items = loo rolls, a new drinks bottle for DS3 (his broke this week), a glass (to replace a broken one) and a set of (very much joy sparking) purple bbq tools (means our rusty ones can go))

    J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. 1/10
    U Use the food you have to base your meals on. Also using up other stuff - used several tubes of hotel shampoo to top up handwash bottle in boys' bathroom. Bought lots of food today.
    But will need more tomorrow for school lunches (rolls, mainly)

    N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. We have a family end-of-exams meal planned (tradition for the past 4 years) , a possible meet up with friends in the pub (usual cost £10-£15,and a meal out with work Yep
    E Eating well is a form of self respect. Breakfast was toasted HM wholemeal seeded bread, lunch houmous and mini sausages and veggies (using up bits n pieces) and dinner leftovers of last night's chicken rice and veggies.

    O Offer help and be kind (inc to self)
    D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is leftDay to day CCs repaid in full. All invig money paid to my 0% CC. £250 to savings.
    E Exercise Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Gardening and housework today (inc moving compost from bins etc) - calorie burn is good, according to f1tb1t. Am also attacking the ironing pile later with catch up tv - OH is out with old work colleagues for the evening - I will have a box set and ironing - but I like that
    S Set all your budgets .

    * Food - 92.47/450
    * Fuel - £70
    * Toiletries - £10
    * Cleaning/ household (eg loo rolls)9.90/20

    Gratitudes:
    * Getting stuff done in garden (OH mowed, I planted things, pruned, shifted compost, moved pots, watered things, collected missed prunings from last weekend)
    * An unexpected beautiful, glorious day - 3 loads of washing line dried

    A - Will definitely be asking if it is necessary before purchasing. One thing I will be looking at using/buying less things with plastic.
    J - Aiming for 20 NSD Was a spend day. Brought some household items to replace items that were made from plastic. Did use a loyalty in one store to cover the cost of most as to what I brought. Can only £2.50 parts. £15 in total used in points.
    U - Will be looking into cupboards etc and make sure I will not buy unnecessary and use what already in. No food brought today. Used what I had in.
    N - Will bring lunch etc if going out etc.
    E - Have to make a special effort to more healthy eating. Have been good today.
    O - Will do.
    D -Have DD for money already set up to go into savings.
    E - Walked round town centre to various shops to get household items.
    S - Have set my budgets.
    S - Started a bag for the cs. Somethings that I replaced today are good enough for the cs. Also put in other items as well. Entered into another 5k charity walk to be done in June.
    E - Checked in.
    Y - Will do.

    Lsd - using points keeps your nsd.

    Today I am grateful for getting up early and getting on with marking, for lengthening my kettlebell workout to 18 mins, for a sunny day meaning line-dried washing, for simple food, for dd doing her sch project without too much moaning, for the tennis on the telly, for dh taking dd to dance so that I could mark and then doing a food shop, for the weather being warm enough not to need to wear socks.

    Help!

    Tis an odd problem but I am suddenly looking to screen our garden a little more on one side,for privacy from a very loud 4 year old who climbs on to their mini slide/climbing tower as soon as they hear anyone in our garden, and talks at you and won't take 'no' for an answer. The fence is 4'high and only 16' long. It rises slightly. Halfway along is an apple tree that is mildly bushy just above fence height, thus providing a little hiding shelter...

    Does anyone have any super ideas - that are super cheap too?

    I am thinking of moving our rather old bench against the fence, on one side of the tree, to put some pots on, which will then have an 18" headstart.

    Can't believe I am incapable of outwitting a munchkin!
