A really good day for me here. I was back in work after ra few days holibobs so got caught up with a few things. I spent last night and some of today (up at 5am!) baking goods to sell at our WI market. Total value of £114 if it all sells!. If not, we eat it all up.

I used up a few bits and bobs for lunch and dinner, nothing special but very healthy and have planned lunch for tomorrow. Then I need to meal plan for the week ahead. I'm at the market tomorrow and I usually pick up quite a few bits form there but it is all from small producers like myself so it keeps the money in our community, which is good.
I'm going out tomorrow night for a couple of drinks with friends - it will mean a spend night but I haven't seen them for ages and ages - It will do me good.

I also just did my spreadsheets. Last month we spent £414 on food - we need to make it less this month but am starting with emptier cupboards!

    1/20 NSD.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Day 1 spend day £2 on poundshop ice cube trays and £8.15 on fruit, veg and a dozen eggs. Daughter bought cups of tea at costa coffee shop. Managing to stick to SW diet, but it is only the first week. Feel healthier with all the fruit and veg and my diabetic glucose figures have dropped to below 7. Absolutely fantastic.

Have set my budgets £80 for fuel and parking
£300 for anything food, household, dogs, gardener.
Have £160 per month transferred to savings 'pots' for car maintenance, holiday funds, xmas and birthdays and hair cut, acupuncture and chiropody. I've been doing without the last three for a while but they make me feel better so I've reinstated them
Donation monthly s/o to Guide dogs for the blind, bought Big Issue today and will donate to food bank tomorrow.

Managed to only spend £90 on my cruise holiday on drinks, snacks when off the ship and a book as a gift for my daughter. So when I go away with friends in July already have my spending money.
I am not buying anything in June that I don't need. I am hoping to pay off a little more than minimum to my debts with the money I don't spend.

    Hugs xx

Plan for the month. Budgets set as last month but went over last month, must stay in budget this month. We have a day trip to see the terracotta warriors on the 9th (paid for) and have just booked a 5 day break on Angelsey 25th - 29th (mum paid). Includes a day trip to Portmeirion which is somewhere I have always wanted to go. Mum will probably pay for most of that. Hoping for no injuries this time.

The church fair is on the 16th so will be doing my best to keep calm as mum puts us both through hell shopping/ baking/ icing for the next two weeks.

I have a page long list from yesterday's therapy session which I need to work on implementing over the next two weeks (then permanently). I scored myself lowest on well being so I will:
    dance more
    walk more
    smile lots
    more mindfulness
stop and think before I put things in my mouth
eat more carrots, celery, broccoli, mushrooms
more veg especially raw but more veggie recipes and make my own salads - bean, potato, carrot, coleslaw etc and dips - houmous, raita
    daily gratitudes
    get rid of mental clutter
    reduce physical clutter
work on good sleep habits - move the stop screen stuff, read. sleep forward (trying to be asleep by midnight)

I have also noted (under social) a couple of museums I keep meaning to visit (for the whole day, not just 1/2 hour before closing)

I am starting with the soft target of 10 NSDs, will beat it. Just that as shopping for mum seems to be an ongoing process, I have been adding the odd bit for me here and there because otherwise I just run out of stuff. This is also something I want to work on, sort regular grocery deliveries (and for heavy stuff like paint and garden stuff) build up a stock of long life stuff and spend a lot less time on it.

Today I have been to mum's. bought her bread, milk and some minted potatoes from the reduced shelf. Difficult start, every bit of me is creaky or aching. Bath helped and took strong painkillers.

Did the edgings on the small side garden. This involved moving several sacks of soil, mum had caught the last one which was less robust than the others, so that split and had to ferry the contents using a large plant pot.. May not be able to move tomorrow but I have done what I wanted to.

Worked on the current jigsaw for a while (tv is so loud that I could follow the plot of the film mum was watching) and made food for us both. Came home at 9pm. May have Monday off (I have a doctor's appointment at 3.30pm) but I have to get some cash out for mum, put £50 through someone's door, ask the doctor about mum having an xray on her knee (still hurting from when she fell out of bed on holiday) during my appointment and then get the bus from the infirmary all the way to Morries to buy the list of cake/ icing supplies (I picked up the chenille sticks yesterday). Simple hey.

Today I am grateful for getting the garden work done (more next week), for mum's garden looking good and attracting compliments, for the foxgloves growing in my garden, for the offer of a boyfriend yesterday, for meeting a lady then chatting with her at the bus stop and on the bus into town (swapping tips on pain management), for lots of celery, carrots, broccoli, cucumber and peppers eaten this week.

    Hi all :j

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. Really really need to do this as am overwhelmed with the stuff we have here...When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible)… I have made one each night for a while but then fail to look at them again as they depress me...will work on this also!

J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. but 0/20 so far..

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Meal prepped from stuff in stores, loads of leftovers for tomorrow.

N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. Not planning on any of these

E Eating well is a form of self respect. Also need to do this as feel guilty when I don't

O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Sounds like a good plan to me.

D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Must be getting the hang of it as this months bill was the lowest in ages.

E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. No problem with this, love love love to be outside rather than inside (!)..done today..

S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Still to do..

S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August

E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 1/30 here I am..

Y You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Need to invest in myself so I can stay healthy & able to help anyone who needs it... work in progress..

xRaphaelxx well done on resisting buying clothes. I keep looking but have not caved in so far. I may need some things - it's getting easier to find things to wear for crafts (ie things that I won't care if they get glue/ paint on them) and noticed several favourites are getting shabby. I am still wearing my winter boots most days. had a panic yesterday as I couldn't find one and had to enlist help to find my second trainer. Probably need another pair and will keep looking in ths cs for a few replacement clothes items.

Fmess resisting puppies is so hard. DS1 and his betrothed are always posting clips of their favourites. This has included a shopping trolley full of husky puppies and last week, adventure dogs who joined their owner in camping, ski-ing, hiking etc. Puppy owning is postponed until they get back from their wedding (it will be mine when they are on holidays).

lindez a very good start, love your gratitude, sorry for your loss.

misstara don't beat yourself up about the overspend. You are doing so well with the healthy eating, being helpful and the Tilly tidyies.

gien good luck with the market sales

Dottydaisy excellent news on the diet.

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Had afternoon tea out (DD and myself) - voucher was due to expire and was a bday present to me back in March. OH made dinner from stores and it was lovely :) Also used up 7 small hotel bars of soap making approx. 14 pints of laundry gloop and fragranced the white vinegar for softener with fragrance oil I've had for around 10+ years.

    Good morning Turtles

J-So today is NSD #1. Yesterday I packed for our hol (what a task) & inevitably there was little things I had forgotten. My youngest needed some new clothes. luckily I had realised he would need new clothes shortly & had budgeted a little money for it.

U-using what we have in the fridge for saving money & also making sure nothing is wasted while we are away. any left over milk I will freeze. Thinking of trying to freeze some peppers but not sure if I can. Will google.

N- no take away etc & no unnecessary spends we are 2 months away from our finances improving slightly & I want to start over paying my car. We have got this far with no debt other than the car & savings in tact.

E- eat well. after my break it will be all systems go to get fit. Stine & a half gone so far this year. Who.

    O-be kind. I will try

D-all bills now paid. Just working out this morning what is left.

E- another priority once I am back

    S- budgets set

S- will donate to the good bank.

E- will try my best to check in even when I am away but it may not be daily.

Y- need to work on my anxiety. reading helps

Grateful for - flowers popping up all over our garden, my sons new slogan T shirt (okay. but first, snacks) he is a bit of a chunk & it makes me giggle. It is so him. My eldest being super excited for Mickey Mouse & my Mum giving me £500 spends making the hol doable. (My mum Got my brother a car for his 21St but couldn't afford to get me anything for mine as she hit a really rough time financially. at the beginning of this year she said she knew things would be hard for us this year & was now in a position to give me x amount of pounds throughout the year - she wanted to make the difference up,I asked for it to go towards days out & breaks for the kids , I funded the actual hol but she has pretty much paid spends & for c parcs in August. I am grateful for this little bit of luxury in an otherwise saving world :o

Yesterday was a disaster beyond measure. I had a mystery dine booked in to get a free lunch, but the company cancelled it on me at the last minute. I had to buy lunch even though I had made a conscious decision to leave the leftovers at home. £4.90 of unplanned spending on the first day of the Odyssey.

Then, we had a handyman come round and install a curtain rod. He wanted to put a baton on the walls, so he has screwed three gigantic, uneven, crooked pieces of wood on the walls and they overlap over the windows. It is actually comically terrible and I was crying and laughing about it yesterday. His solution to fix it was to place one large board over both windows, essentially boarding them up at the top. I think we will need to plaster the wall. This has cost us about £300 of airbnb money, because this is the guest room. I don't know what to do. I am hiding for now.

We met our friends out at a pub to play boardgames and we got a portion of chips between three. This had been planned for a while and was good fun, but I didn't have my head in the game because of this builder stuff and lost.

My partner doesn't understand sometimes the difference between me being angry about something, and me being angry at him, so we had a small tiff. We got into bed and realised we hadn't actually eaten any dinner but exhaustion had taken over and we fell asleep hungry.

    June challenge
Use what you have - My fridge and cupboards are pretty empty, but we have a weekly veg box, fruit box and a biweekly fish delivery. Between these, and the items in our fridge, we should have everything we need to eat.
No takeaways - Failed twice yesterday. It is out of my system and gone.
Eat well - Didn't eat dinner at all, so not so successful.
Offer help and encouragement wherever you go - I will do this now after I work up the will to get out of bed.
Debts should be paid first - All bills are paid, I so desperately need savings.
Exercise daily- I did accomplish this actually! 5 minutes of morning yoga before the day went downhill.
    Set budgets - Must do
Someone, somewhere is worse off than you - Must do
Every day is check in day. I am here, checking in
You are the most important person in your life - Be good to myself, be good to my partner. He is a good man and I am lucky to have him.
