Confession today is my first actual No Spend day. Both of my spends were mental health based so doing my best not to beat myself up. I am aiming for today to be an NSD though as I want my first tick of the month.

Asking myself “Is this necessary/realistic?” before purchases or adding to the To Do List.

June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. No spending yet this month so on 3/15 NSDs

Using the food I already have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base meals on.

No takeaways or food on the run purchases.

Eating well is a form of self-respect. Stills needs attention. Main meals are fine its DCs being on half term, I tend to have snacks around for them and join in.

Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself.

Debt and savings payments will be made first – regular payments will be made during the first week of the month then I live on what is left.

Exercise. This still needs attention though I have been outside every day.

Set all your budgets before the start of the month. All budgets were set. Now looking where I can spend smart to keep the money in my pocket for as long as possible.
    Spreadsheet empty waiting for entries.

Someone, somewhere is worse off than me. Donations still to be delivered, clutter to be cleared.

Every day check is not going to happen as this is my first since June started. Tend not to sit down until late then, once I’ve read all the threads I follow daily, it will be gone midnight and technically into the next day. Must approach it differently – I’ll do my check in the early hours!

You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest-term investment. You matter. Read this thread daily and am taking note of the daily quotes. I will take on anything I find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest.

    Grateful for:
the daily quotes from mothernerd making me smile - thank you
the lovely weather and getting washing dried outside
our friendly new neighbours who like cats

    Afternoon all :)

Spend day today as I bought bargainous cheese from the market :D £5 spent for nearly 1.5 kg of nice mature cheddar. Enough for a couple of weeks.

So still on 2 / 10 NSDs. I won't miss a bargain that is on my shopping list to score a NSD - I go to markets a couple of times most weeks, and good quality produce is often a fraction of the supermarket price. So, I may shop more often, but do so in order to save money :)

Used braised red cabbage, a home made meat pie filling, cauliflower, swede and cream from the freezer for dinner, cooked a big dinner for 3 of us. I have lots of cold potatoes left, and there is cream left that will be incorporated into a quiche tomorrow :)

Also used rhubarb and fresh tarragon from the garden, so done quite well at 'shopping from home' today :) I am determined to get those freezers emptied and defrosted before I buy any more. This will help keep costs down, as I have 2 big bills coming up this month, and one was unexpected :(

Was doing well with the healthy eating until another slice of birthday cake appeared!!!! Surely there can't be any left to tempt me.
Had a bit of a clean and tidy and remarkably Himself helped by tidying the medicine drawer and fridge. He's also started having something out of the freezer for his lunch. God knows what he's got in there. Today it was curried chicken and rice. Must have been there for ages.
I think you're right Mothernerd getting into a gradual routine is the way forward plus doing a little extra every day. I have a cunning plan, as they say.
Will try to have a bit of a walk tomorrow to help with the exercise (actually, it's the only exercise).
Indigo - Take care of yourself. xx
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

I have finally managed to catch up with all the posts. You have been a chatty lot.

Spent money yesterday, nipped into our tiny town and bought a few items in the charity shops (as you may remember I am having a year of buying nothing new), then called into the slightly larger town 3 miles away for the 1940's weekend they had on. It was unbelievably busy which is great for the town.

Also ran yesterday and cycled this morning. No money spent today as we have just pottered at home.

I am pleased to say that after a week away I am still following a plant based vegan diet, it's been about a month now and I am really feeling the benefits of it. Have had hm potato and leek soup for lunch and a huge chickpea curry for tea.

Mothernerd - I, for one, really enjoy all of your posts. I think you have an amazing amount of wisdom and kindness which always comes across so please don't ever stop.

I haven't managed a nsd today but I have ended the day in profit, which just sounds a bit weird. When I got to my tutoring session I was asked to stay for 3 hours rather than my usual 1, which meant a lot more money but more time out of the house. After checking with the kids, and promising them a KFC for lunch I stayed for 3 hours, and earned more extra than I spent on the KFC. Plus I didn't get KFC for myself because I am trying to get healthier and slimmer wherever possible, and I haven't got to find the time to make dinner tonight now that I am home - I can focus on marking. This helps me an awful lot to lose the guilt while I'm juggling 3 jobs in exam season.

Taking stuff to ex's new place was fine - I only stayed long enough to help him carry stuff in and have a brief chat about the current situation. My divorce is already underway - I have the paperwork ongoing, and I am looking to sort the finances asap as well. I just want it all over with so that we can all move on. He was absolutely fine - much more accepting, although he is stressed about the money situation. Hopefully I can get that sorted soon for all our sakes.

For the rest of today I need to get back on top of the exam marking and prepare for going back to work tomorrow. Can't believe my half term is over already!
