    Just setting my goals:

    Will aim for 20 NSD’s

Use the food you have - this will be interesting as my husband moves out today and so I am being left with all the food etc. Wonder how little I can get away with spending this month. Will need veg definitely as only carrots in the fridge.

Annual leave next week and going to the seaside with a friend and chips are a necessity when at the beach!! Should be my only takeaway.

Eating well is a form of self respect – definitely need to start doing this, all too often I reach for the crisps and chocolate.

Be kind to everyone, especially yourself – I definitely need to do this, June is a month of change.

Debt or savings payments should be made first – did my YNAB budget just on my wages so just need to update the outgoings which went out on 1st.

Exercise – as it will just be me looking after all the animals I will be getting plenty of exercise, 2 dog walks a day plus 2 trips to the field for the chickens/geese should come out at about 1.5hrs per day (Plus I work full time)

Set all your budgets before the start of the month – all done on YNAB, things will be tight until my council tax reduces and hoping some of my other bills reduce.

This month is going to be all about decluttering, husband is taking all his stuff so by rights I should have a half empty house by Monday which will make clearing my stuff much easier.

Will check in as often as I can.

You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. – taking this month extra slowly and extra carefully, I know the living apart is going to hit home at some point this week.

Friday was a NSD - was so busy at work I didn't have time to spend. I did have to put husbands new furniture on my credit card as his card is Visa and wasn't working but he will pay me back so not counting this.

Yesterday was also a NSD as worked - haven't worked a Saturday in years so it was rather strange but it did mean there was no spending.

Today may be spendy as helping husband move out and may need to grab food on the go as we are collecting and making furniture and generally being busy.

I am off all week and have lots of appointments so these could incur some costs.

    Have a good Sunday everyone!!

Hi Mothernerd - I hope you don't mind me stealing that list of foods for my page, so that I can refer to it. Really helpful post :)

Good luck with this and I hope that your council are not as useless as mine have been. I'm still waiting for my council tax reduction although I have been assured that it will all be backdated when it does happen. There's another department I can put a big fat cross against in terms of being even a little bit helpful, alongside the rubbish and recycling, housing and adult social care... I appreciate that times are tight with councils but I genuinely can't remember the last time I got anything helpful out of them at all. I will be thinking of you today as I am also taking stuff from my house to his new place (as our lives continue to mirror each others)

I dont expect mine to be straight forward as technically there are still 2 adults as I have DS who is 21 but as he is at Uni I will get a 25% discount for him being a student so somehow I have to get a student certificate from his Uni to confirm this.

If it was just WS moving out and in to his own property it would be really quick as they will be able to see he has registered for council tax at his new property and give me a discount but alas that isnt the case.

Either way when it is sorted I am paying the same amount over the year but I could do with the monthly payments reducing.

    Good luck with today

    Good Morning all,
I did have a spend day yesterday I put a shed on my cc for my daugheter they were half price in Mr T's she moved into the house in September last year and has two daughters who need to store bicycles and out door play things so I will count this as a good deed, though I did beat myself up a bit last night for putting it on the cc.

I met a lady yesterday asked me for 50 pence since she was short on getting her pre payment electricity I gave her the money 50 pence is neither here nor there for me, and I suppose for her it was a lot.

I have to go shopping today for basics, I am in work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so I will be planning healthy lunches to take with me.

I have had a healthy breakfast this morning, strawberry, banana and yogurt.

Planned for later water the plants in the garden with feed,
Small tidy up and get uniforms ready for work tomorrow.

EE and ccl, thinking of you both today. My break up was a lot simpler in some ways because my husband had been working 300+ miles away for about 5 years. He went back to his mummy and I had moved as much of his stuff as possible into the front room and got out of the way when his father arrived with the car and trailer to avoid the evil looks.

Never easy and the relationship may change in stages.

I nearly asked about coping with your animals EE.

The university will supply the Certificate of Student Occupation (roughly what it's called). Think it is student welfare or student services, it may be in the student handbook or on their website. best if you can get DS1 to go along and ask, if he is already on site. They may be able to email it to you, to save time.

The council will have a form to fill in. They need the university name and address, DS1's term-time address if applicable, the course name and duration and which year DS1 is currently in. This is because they apply the discount over the summer break if the student will be returning ie if he is currently on the second year of a three year course. Sometimes they stop it and you only get it back in the new college year (and yes, sometimes you have to contact them about it and make sure it has been applied).

Don't know what age your other children are, or at what stage in their school career but child benefit can be paid up until the end of the summer term following their 19th birthday in certain circumstances eg if they messed up A levels and spent a year repeating them therefore were still in full time education but not in receipt of a grant. Not sure if working tax credit does the same - it may come under the (dreaded and dreadful) Universal Credit banner now.

Don't know if your husbands are able to pay maintainance but. if not your childen's grants etc (not sure if it's all loans these days) should be based on your income alone and you may find that the university contributes as well - DS2 recived an extra £1000 a year from his uni due to my extremely low income.

In any case, get all your tax paperwork to hand and keep an address book. Different organisations use different tax years as the basis of their calculations (some use the year that ended in April, others use the year before, sometimes they want more than one year) and at some stage you will have to phone them, chivvy them along, find out what went wrong. Some will ask for copies of divorce paperwork (I know you are not at that stage yet, but be prepared). Always take copies in case they lose things. And keep all the codes and ref numbers together in an address or notebook, because you can never find the one piece of paperwork for the right child, when you need it.

Sorry to sound like a welfare mother but at one stage I was sumbitting student/college information for all three boys and myself (as well as working several p-t jobs). DS2 had health problems which meant he had to repeat each uni year (6 years) and DS3 messed up his GCSEs and did two 1yr courses before doing a 2yr businees qualification to go onto uni.

Good luck with today, you are both very brave and hope things stay amicable/ cordial for as long as possible.
