Wow, this thread is motoring! I think that you have found your niche Mothernerd! Please keep posting!

NSD 2/10+ now. I have still got plenty of food in the fridge but it is getting to the point where it will have to undergo a sniff test before it gets to the taste test. I will aim to get it all cooked over the next couple of days.

I'm giving up teaching at the end of this academic year to go self employed. At the moment I'm busy marking as much as possible in the way of external exams to make enough money to cushion the transition as well as pay for the courses I'm studying. Life is very hectic at the moment as I don't live at home (relationship breakdown), am marking like fury, studying 2 courses and working full time as head of department.

    Hi all :j

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. Have not purchased anything today...When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); Haven't looked at list today but will revise it tomorrow. Taking on board mothernerd's advice & trying not to feel inadequate as so much needs doing..no purchases today..

J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. now 2/20 so far..

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Changed menu as DD said she was going to her own place, so made some rice to go with leftover curry & nibbles. Chickened out with prawn curry as quite OOD....threw it, waste of £1.50 YS. Will have today's menu tomorrow..

N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. None today

E Eating well is a form of self respect. Ate fairly well today, could do better!

O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Not seen anyone to be kind to, so it will have to be to myself! And DH of course, I'm always kind to him...not. Not feeling kind towards neighbours as they have been blasting out music for the past few days...I thought that's why headphones had been invented?

D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Must be getting the hang of it as this months bill was the lowest in ages. Have large energy debt to pay this week as they finally billed us...

E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside today, cut grass again, it's quite the workout. Stayed in later as neighbours loud music irritating ...out again this evening after they'd gone in.

S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Still to do..

S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. Plus will donate to animals again..more items for CS plus I donate my time every week..

E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 3/30 here I am..

Y You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Need to invest in myself so I can stay healthy & able to help anyone who needs it... need to take note of the quotes & apply to self instead of beating myself up over what I don't get done. Very many good quotes and suggestions, thank you mothernerd, hope you get some sleep..

swimming do you take your book everywhere with you. I get through loads of reading on the bus, sitting waiting for appointments, prescriptions, waiting for my taxi (perched by the door, surrounded by bags).

sashanut glad the quotes and tips are helping.

Well done on completing your walk misstara.

sashanut - I hate it when people play muisc outside at volume. Those that do it are always the first to complain if someone else does it too.

mothernerd - I thought I was the only person who takes an 'emergency banana' with them.

ccl - you sound very calm and organised under very difficult circumstances - hope you get things finalised soon.

I changed energy supplier last month and got my final bill from the old one - £326.00 - yikes. Have had to take the money from savings to pay it off.

Everyone back at school and work today. I have cycled already this morning and will run this evening.
