NSD 3/10
Stayed indoors today; used mothernerd's list tips and have done one 'everyday' chore and one 'one off' chore. Ate well with healthy leftovers etc but also been craving fatty foods and large portions - does happen every week or two for 24-48 hours during a growth spurt. Got some cheese and an egg left if still the case tomorrow.0 -
Thanks mothernerd for your post - never stop posting, you are a walking encyclopaedia!!!
Yesterday was a spend day as brought lunch on the go while helping 'husband' to move into his own place. Did loads but not enough for him to stay there but he is staying at his new place tonight and forever more!!!
Today I had opticians and needed new glasses - not sure if this is medical or not? I have the money saved for glasses as my eyesight worsens each time I am tested.0 -
Quick check in for me - utterly hectic day today. Back at work and mid marking so I'm in a bit of a stress everywhere trying to get everything done.
Absolutely no time for any spending at all today so that's good.
Even managed to convince dd to help with dinner - stir fry, nice and quick.
And I need a reminder about letting things go and not feeling guilty. I have quite a bit of that today so it's good to see it on here.
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Today's been really busy - full day at work and then an evening of chores. Just going to catch up with the Hugh Grant TV thing 'A very British scandal'.
I haven't spent anything today, picked up a prescription but I have a prepayment thing and at work I resisted the temptation to supplement my salad with a ham roll so no spends there.
My DH bought enough food to last unril the weekend so that was £40 ish out of the budget.
Today i am very grateful for the lovely weather and the beautiful flowers that are coming out in the garden.....
3/20 NSDTrying to keep in budget.

Evening all
A - Already ruling out potential purchases as unnecessary. Can't afford extras this month.
J - 2 / 10 NSDs
U - Use what you have. Will be shopping mainly from freezer and cupboards this month! Bought some groceries etc today
N - Will take lunch etc if going out. Did have lunch out todayA rare occurrence, but I had to go back to the hospital this morning, everything ok and I was discharged :T OH suggested we celebrate, hence a pub lunch. Having said this, it wasn't great, and it wasn't good value compared to home made food, so won't be repeating this in a hurry!
E - Eat well - Meant well, ordered a salad at lunch, but it came with garlic bread - and then I had toast for evening meal - too much bread
O - Offer help and encouragement - I always try to do this
D - Debts and savings should be paid first - No debt, and standing orders are set up for savings
E -Exercise - this is still a bit tricky for me, as I am recovering from surgery. Must keep out of the biscuit tin!! Still under orders to take things easy for the next few weeks, but I will try to do a bit more each day
S - Have set my budgets, all of them. I have 2 big bills coming this month  so must cut down where I can:
Groceries /toiletries / cleaning / pet food etc - £250
Fuel - £100, still need trips to the hospital, and can't walk far yetI will pay the regular bills obviously, but will cut down where possible on everything else, and religiously record spends in my spending diary and keep my spreadsheet up to date. Haven't done great today. Spreadsheet updated accordingly!
S - Someone, somewhere is worse off than you - many people are. I will donate to the food bank as I do each month. I have checked the local foodbank's FB page, and listed the items they are asking for this month. Will do this when I next go to the supermarket
E - Checking in.
Y - You etc
Grateful for: Favourable test results at the hospital indicating I am on the mend and need no further treatment :T0 -
Today was not a NSD so still on 1/20, but it was necessary school uniform for a growing boy - they fit at the end of last term!! So 2 x new shirts for 2 kids and 2x longer shorts for 1 kid. All other stuff will be passed down to smallest who is not the least bit snobby about hand me downs. Good job, or he would spend even more of his time naked.
All food from stores.
My bedroom was 24 degrees when I got up at 6am. And it faces North. Sweltering.
Found an unexpected £5 in my bag (where did that come from??? not even in my purse, just floating around in my bag) - I blame fairies, or that blasted unicorn.
Plasterer cancelled on me at the last minute, after I had cleared out the sofas and books from the shelves. Boo. I had taken out his money, as I spent today anyway. It can sit here until he appears with a swish of his cape and a puff of violet smoke.
Things will be done, but not when I want them to be, but eventually, it will be done. No point stressing about what I cannot control, and never stress outside normal banking hours.
Tomorrow should be a NSD as only need anti-histamines (medical) and I have an appointment with the laundry, and moving furniture about a bit .
Will be more militant about NSDs for the rest of the week.
watch this space .....

The new and secondhand prices have not come down so I opted to spend £4.99 on an eBook (DH was so shocked when I told him he had to sit down!). It is Low Cost Living so I figured if I garner £4.99 of money saving tips it'll pay for itself
I changed energy supplier last month and got my final bill from the old one - £326.00 - yikes. Have had to take the money from savings to pay it off.
They took the first DD out (switch is in process) but I think we'll still have about £200 left to pay of the final bill
mothernerd wrote: »Any tips on cutting down on washing up? I am with x-Raphael-xx on ironing, folding from line dried works most of the time and if your 'best' (only) dress is crumpled from being in the wardrobe so long, as you only get the offer of a night out once or twice a year - hang it up over the taps as you run your bath and the steam will make any creases drop out.
I am grateful for good weather, my garden and resisting getting a puppy (next door got one today!)

Thank you so much to everyone who made such kind comments on my posts. You nearly made me cry.
Well done to all out taecher turtles currently ploughing through their marking contracts.
lindez it's good to hear you sounding so happy
apple the smell of stocks is so wonderful and uplifting
Kerry Woman I have cupboard eny (mine's mostly tinned tomatoes and pulses + herbs and spices, and mum's ginger mountain and golden syrup lake). I think I'm a convert to CBT, the group course was helpful and I like the discipline of my weekly therapist appointments and it's useful to pick on one bit of the problem to work on.
When f0xh0les said that she was the most important person in everyone's life (think that applies to most of us, just try being ill enough to have to stay in bed and see what happens to your house in under a day).
I think I have been that person since I was 3 years old - I can't stop feeling responsible for everyone and everything (when bad things happen to children, they tend to blame themselves for external problems and also get hot wired to respond with fear - emergency mode - rather than excitement). Even now (or when my scores were very high), I always answered the suicidal/ harm questions with a firm no - I am responsible for too many people/ I couldn't leave when things are such a mess. I just have to try to 'limit' how many people I care for and at what level (and resist mum's attempts to make me responsible for people like her lodger). I can't save the whole world, just do what I can.
Sorry Kerry that became more about me than you. Self-care is vital for avoiding relapses.
greent I know paying out money hurts, but necessary household maintenance costs more the longer it is left.
Lavender Bee in the last few weeks, all that baby is doing is growing. Well done on getting some chores done.
EE I love that 'husband' (he's in husband limbo - gone but not quite gone enough). I think glasses coun as medical (adds making an appointment back on to the list)My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
ccl I think we all need those reminders. If I ever think something is too obvious, I remind myself that the minute we get stressed, a lot of stuff goes out of our heads and we start doing things like grabbing food whenever and wherever we can. The things we need most seem to be the first casualties.
gien mum has been enjoying that series and she has a strong aversion to Hugh Grant usually.
DawnW no bread guilt (or meal out guilt either). You did it, the experience was lacking, you won't repeat your mistake, forget about it.
f0xh0les Thank the unicorn ( or send him round here). DS1's cat found a fiver when he was playing with leaves in the back. We praised him but he never brought us more 'pretty blue leaves'. My plasterer was good at his job (and turned up when he said he would) but I don't want to think about him wearing a cape. Be afraid world - f0xh0les is on a mission.x_raphael_xx wrote: »
I have a great method for washing up...they either go in the dishwasher, or BF does them. I do all the rest of the cleaning cos I enjoy it. But I loathe doing the washing up, so thats BFs job. (He's supposed to take the bins out too, but it's about 50/50)
Puppys are cute, but OH you forget how much work they are. And how much they destroy.
E Exercise. Much needed rest day today, especially after an early start in work.
E Every day check in is reccommended, especially when things go wrong. I am here!
Can I borrow your bf please. I found the dishwasher very helpful after my hysterectomy but did not use it much and let DS2 have it.
My ex used to wash up when we first got together (I made a big thing of how sexy his bum looked when he was leaning over the sink) but did not take care and quickly destroyed my Wedgewood dinner service (saved for over many years/ bought as presents from my mum) and once I had children everything mysteriously became my responsibility. He even said he didn't think the children were anything much to do with him (one of 'my' things apparently) when we were divorcing. Explained a lot, in retrospect.
Think it will have to be little and often (and try not to be resentlful at how much of it is nothing to do with me)
I am thinking of allocating DS3 and Beloved a day each
I keep watching dogs behaving badly on pinterest but I find I have a lot of sympathy for the dogs.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
