Went to mum's (with 4 heavy bags of shopping, although it did include my lunch and a 2l bottle of water). No gardening done today, we are up to Church fair so I have been making icing roses, mum wants a dozen about 1" across to go on little straw hats (cakes made to look like) and some tiny ones to go on the top of the handles of cakes made to look like little baskets. Started but had to take a break as the icing dried out quickly - has to be 'wet' enough to 'stick' individual petals on and stay on, but not too wet to mould without it sticking to your hands. Will do more later in the week.
Did some more of the jigsaw and put the bins out (and filled up the soupery - cupboard in the kitchen gets restocked from the wardrobe size cupboard in the spare bedroom). Very tired and a bit dizzy today, mum kept laughing at me walking around (while saying she wasn't laughing).
Took some books back to the library and on checking, found there was lots of space in the charity bin, so DS3 clothes (except 5 t-shirts that are only fit for rags) and some storage boxes have gone.
Today I am grateful for our library, for all the facilities it offers, for the weather being fine but not oppressive, for charity shops, for a lovely tea, for it being crafts tomorrow and not much prep needed. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hi all :j
A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. Have not purchased anything today...When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); Purchasing today - including food shopping (4 different shops!) plus animals food for the next 3 months or so. Definitely necessary.. Never looked at todo list at all today but tomorrow will go for it...
J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. still 3/20 so far..
U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Had such a late lunch that we didn't want to eat at the usual time, DD needed to eat though as heading off for a full night shift 10-7. Luckily still had some campfire stew made the other day, she had it with leftover Nandos rice; DH had with chips (!) & I had with rice too. Very frugal as the bacon joint was only 2 euro.....only disappointment was with the quality of the cake from T0scos... have told DH to never let me buy them again, just horrible ugh..
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. None today.
E Eating well is a form of self respect. Eating was good & fairly healthy, up until the cake...nuff said..
O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Waves pompoms encouragingly!!
D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Need to keep a check of finances, will aim for that tomorrow when nothing happening..famous last words.
E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside with animals after it got cooler, then latrer on to water everything, hellish hot again today - and that's not a sentence I often write when in Yorkshire..
S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Tomorrow, honest...have all receipts.
S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. Plus will donate to animals again. Took items to CS, will donate to a rescue for a big vets bill tonight..
E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 5/30 here I am..
You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Going to at least make a list - if only mentally - of the things I am actually good at...

A Ask if this is necessary. I asked myself that as I was browsing Birkenstock shoes. Not necessary. Don't buy.
J I don't know if I've achieved any honest NSDs. We have a house account, and I have two days where I didn't spend any personal money but did spend from the house account. Yesterday, I did some market research for £50, so bonus. I keep forgetting to send in the books to M0m0x, but there is a £10 just waiting for me.
U Made a pasta yesterday for dinner for my partner and made extras for lunch. Must meal plan.
N Mostly no ready-to-go food purchases. Better than usual.
E Eat well. Accomplished.
O Offer help. I think I did this too. My partner twisted his ankle and I offered sympathy and support.
D Pay debts first. I got a message yesterday saying that I didn!!!8217;t have enough to cover a direct debit to my savings account. Luckily, that!!!8217;s just a result of some money moved around and I!!!8217;ve got it sorted. Savings went out, and I have £160 to spend on food and entertainment for the rest of the month.
E Exercise. I neglected my morning yoga again this morning, in lieu of cuddling with the kitties. They have just been too adorable as when they hear the alarm, they know I am awake and come for cuddles. Cats are funny, sometimes we don!!!8217;t get along that well and other times we are very in sync.
S Budgets. To be honest I still don!!!8217;t have a budget but I do have a system that works for me that is essentially a budget. On the day after pay day, money gets whisked into different accounts and all that is left in my current account is what I can spend until the end of the month.
S Someone is worse off. In this case, it!!!8217;s the indelicate builder who has wrecked my spare room. He completed 2/3 of tasks on Sunday, with the outstanding task being the one he wrecked. On Monday he began chasing me and chasing me for payment, even though he hadn!!!8217;t undone the damage to our bedroom. He left a pretty agro voicemail. He isn!!!8217;t a bad craftsman but you don!!!8217;t get a horse to polish your shoes. He wasn!!!8217;t the appropriate one to do the task. Anyway, after it became clear he didn!!!8217;t have £100 spare, I paid him what was due without holding it ransom. Universe, I am asking you to make sure he does come to do the final bit. I also donated £1.50 to a library.
E I do check in every day, even if not posting. I am not an Odyssey, at best I am a limerick. I have had my LBM but the bulb is a little bit dim at the moment.
Y I will treat myself with compassion.Mortgage started at £318,000 in June 2016. Original MF - 2041

Hello,
Yesterday ended up being a good day overall. Little blib of overwhelmed-ness after work due to the usual "in, chores, dinner, rush-rush-rush" and a ciggie to calm down, unfortunately (less than the day before though).
So again this morning realistic to do list written, healthy lunch and snacks packed and a realistic goal list written. So my first 4 goals are to loose 1kg of weight, smoke less than 5 a week, be able to run, swim, bike: 7, 1.2, and 20k respectively and eat to my new plan by June the 30th. These are all realistic achievable goals. All my "other" goals have been postponed just now as there are only so many hours in the day and these are the most important changes to make.
Might spend today on some health food (stock up on seed, cocoa etc).
Had a little motivational chat with my colleague today who also felt a bit overwhelmed with work, new projects coming in and not enough time.
Have a nice dayDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Hi Mothernerd, I'm hoping I may be able to join you this month, I know its late but Ive just been paid today (state pension) and I need to save to pay a few big bills coming up. I did OK on here in the past but this last year or so Ive been busy doing all sort of things and my savings have been depleted and although I don't have much on the CC I need to stop it all together, so I was hoping to get back to it all with you lovely lot. I will pop in later to see if its OK and put my budgets etc on.

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible). I have noticed references to 'a pile of ironing' or 'the ironing mountain'. In my experience, most ironing is unecessary. You are not an Edwardian lady with a house full of servants to iron the linen and the newspaper. You aren't a fifties housewife (on amphetamines). Today was a spend day I forgot to ask is it necessary. Tomorrow I will be shopping as well.
J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. You will aim for 20 NSDs (tough target) or 10 NSDs (soft target - if you are struggling, take the 'soft' target and exceed it). YS (yellow sticker, reduced items) alone do not lose you an NSD. Safety overrides other considerations therefore medical purchases do not count and petrol as we do not want tyou to be stranded in the middle of nowhere (applies to 'oyster' type cards where you cannot determine when you will need to top it up). Greent has a milk exemption (many hungry boys and a very small fridge). Other exemptions will be considered on their individual merits. Still on 2 no spend days
U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Beans on toast for tea
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. Do not use works canteen (unless free/ highly subsidised), vending machines. Take your lunch to work every day (same applies to hospital visits and days out). If your family has a regular event (eg film night) and includes a takeaway, this is permissible. Similarly if you are meeting a friend and a coffee shop is the only convenient venue (or a 'social event' for which you have a budget) that's okay.
E Eating well is a form of self respect. Give your body the fuel it needs and appreciate all it does for you. No specific rule but I can recommend the 'emergency banana' or small bag of seeds and nuts to prevent the rush for chocolate. Ate to much coffee and cake at residents meeting today
O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself.
D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left Will be starting to repay all debts and save for my new future flat from today
E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Took a stroll to the bank to close an account
S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Do this 21st
S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Now is a good time to check children's clothing (I would always turn too short/ holey joggers/ trousers into shorts). If your family is complete pass on your too small clothing to relatives, friends or charity. Sell it if it's 'designer' - and ask yourself why you paid so much for something that only fit for a few months and spent most of its life covered in sick or poo (sorry, that's judgemental). Will do at the end of the month
E Every day check in is reccommended, especially when things go wrong.
Y You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest.

NSD no 5
Himself is out for his weekly day out with friends so I spent a couple of hours decluttering whilst I could get away with getting rid of things which are only fit for the bin. At this rate I might have to ask the neighbours if I can borrow some space in theirs. Another little extra bit of cleaning. Getting there.
It was another beautiful day so I spent some time this afternoon sitting on the porch. It's a little sun trap!. My lovely neighbour gave me a lavender plant and a little miniature rose last night and since I cleaned the space the other day it's looking really nice. now. I'm hoping Aldi might have some pansies soon so I can plant up a few bowls. Not a necessary spend, I know, but it will cheer the place up for everyone.
Must make a point of investigating the freezer tomorrow and making a meal plan for the next few days. Healthy eating - not quite as good as it could be and must try harder to walk a bit more.
Greent - Hope today is a bit better than yesterday and the boys have both recovered.
Indigo - It's good that you're sounding so positiveHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0
