I am grateful today for quiet neighbours, for getting plenty of marking done, for dd staying to taekwondo, for dd having an invite to take part in some taekwondo championships, for my kb workout, for prawn cocktail crisps, for getting 9 veg down me at lunchtime, for the smell of wet grass after the rain.

A less frustrating and frantic day than yesterday. I had an hour's sleep later in the morning to make up for lack of last night (think I was still too stressed out after yesterday to relax); woke up feeling like I had a hangover  Sat about doing admin chores all morning (got a refund from Asda and a £5 apology, access to a savings account I'd locked myself out of and combined with my regular savings); then made a cake for the weekend. In the aim of loving myself, I had a bath and dug out some scraps of toiletries to use; dead sea mud to slather all over myself, lavender conditioner, sugar scrub. I actually spent longer cleaning up after the mud than I did relaxing but I feel very clean and got rid of 4 bottles/tubes/packets from the bathroom cupboard.

    NSD 5/10

  • Logged in with a quick check in, I'm very tired tonight after not enough sleep, and my cough keeping me awake when I have time to sleep....I tried to have an afternoon nap when ds slept but I just coughed again....

Anyway, yesterday was a spend day, had a pre booked night out, had already paid £5 deposit, and spent £9 including drink.
Also did 3 mile run. Took lunch to work.

Today has been a nsd #4, took ds2 to a playgroup and then came home. Resisted lunch with friends again. Walked the school run so 4 miles of walking there.
Defrosted a chicken and have just cooked it as it wasn't defrosted early enough for tea :(
Spent the evening painting a feature wall in the living room. Looks ok, but it'll need a 2nd coat.

    Total spends this month, £116.99

Will do responses tomorrow afternoon (should have some free time). I was going to walk to my therapist appointment but hcanged my mind when the sun hit me. I have found the suncream again but I feel a bit sore at the base of the neck from days when I have not been out for long.

Did quite a lot of walking within the hospital as I delivered a sample and returned some pills that have now been replaced. Had a phone call this morning to see if I could go for an ECG tomorrow afternoon, so went to look for that department too, so nearly covered the length and breadth of the hospital, old and new buildings.

Had a good therapy session, mostly discussing my appalling sleep pattern. Think it began when I was most stressed (in crisis) and spent most nights chasing problems in my head (some probably invented but some real). The stop start nature became a habit and was not helped by other people in the house being mainly nocturnal - spent a whole night walking round with someone just to stop them committing suicide.

I am much calmer now (in recovery) but still struggling to come to terms with my ageing body, low energy levels, much reduced immune system (a simple cold knocks me out) and working out the best way to tackle the things that need to be done.

We wrote out an action plan in the session and frankly, it's terrifying (maybe petrifying is a better word because it's numbed me into inaction - have hung some of their clothes up).

I need to declutter my bedroom, clear the bed (my nest), clear the chair (so I can sit in the chair, not on the bed), bring the desk/ worktop (saw an old sideboard in two) up from downstairs or think of some other worktop/ work surface I can use, clear the drawers (not a lot there) and set up my candles. I need to spend more time not in my bedroom which means clearing the small couch in the front room if I want to sit down in there.

I think I have to get rid of things but not sure what can go or where it can go if it stays. Twice in my life I have given away all or most of my craft supplies. I think I need to be ruthless with everything but embroidery stuff (I have done a lot on that and the storage options for it are in place). My have to put all the small stuff in the bath and start with a clean slate, then only bring back in what I really need (gives me joy?).

I did make a start - at the end nearest the door (hence picking up their clothes and hanging them on the back of the bathroom door). I have a sleep questionnaire to fill in each day.

Will need to go to mum's early tomorrow as I have the ECG in the afternoon. Think the hairdresser is coming tomorrow too (she sees mum every week but I think my 6 weeks is up, so need a trim). Need to see if mum wants me to stay overnight as we are going to see the terracotta soldiers on Saturday (mum worries about getting up if it's an early start).

Okay, panic over, I'll get stuck in now. One bag at a time.

Today I am grateful for the NHS, for our local infirmary and all its different departments and buildings, for lovely weather and cooling breezes, for the problems of having too much in a world where many do not have enough, for simple food.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

    Hi all :j

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. Major wobble with this today, only stopped myself when I couldn't pay via PP, and it wanted me to 'increase my limit, by 'spending a little bit, then in 4 days time, put in the code that it shows in your bank a/c'. Well by then I came to my senses  When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible); got a few bits done & to be fair DH is doing his own clearing - mainly in the cellar. Apparently we have a large stock of hangers down there - who knew??

J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. Now 5/20 so far..

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) Takeaway F&C was suggested, but quickly stamped on by me. Not the chips; the suggestion LOL.. Made evening meal from stores/fridge. Sweet things needed though, will have to make something..
N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. None today.

E Eating well is a form of self respect. Pretty good today, but need to cut out late night snacking..hmm same old, same old...

O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Mothernerd - Waves pompoms wildly encouragingly!! Sent off DVDs to Germany, asked for no payment...hopefully they'll arrive this time..

D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Will make PAD payment as CC bill now in, and is looking hefty..

E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside at least 3 times today, last off to water the garden, ground like concrete, we now need some rain pdq.

S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Tried to do this but spreadsheet seemed to have vamoosed somehow. Will need to consult DH..

S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. Have taken photos of shoes & will list tomorrow. Donation made to vets bill; patient is slightly improved.

E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 7/30 here I am..

You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Another set of relevant quotes, great but concerned you are not sleeping mothernerd….did you try sleepy tea? Works for me..
