I was feeling a bit sorry for myself the past week, due to losing my dad 7 weeks ago. Just going through the grieving process I suppose.

Only 7 weeks ago! That is no time at all, be kind to yourself, make yourself a beautiful space outside, you deserve it. You are allowed to be sad. It is normal. Enjoy the sunshine, and I am sorry for your loss.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday- I was really busy prepping stuff to bake stuff for the market this morning. Anyway, it was a NSD so now I think that is 4/20 and I was really busy at work so home an hour late. I should get that as overtime .
I'm off for the weekend now, currently at the airport eating my lovely homemade salad and cheese and pickle sandwiches. I did have to buy a bottle of water though. This is a long planned girls weekend, booked before we knew my DH wouldn't be working. I'm quite concerned about the cost but am staying at a Friend's house and hopefully eating in most of the time. I'm going to keep an eye on the money but not obsess about it. I'll try and check in when I'm away if we have WiFi.
    Trying to keep in budget.

So pleased that I managed to repair my computer!! Normally my response would be to just get a new one but I spent £10 on a disk and managed to repair my pc. Yay. Alas, because of that its a spend day.

Still eating from freezer and stores. Actually managed to defrost one of the freezers today and now know what's in there (roughly). Have a menu plan of sorts for the next week for Himself and I at least. The Boy is slightly different (doesn't like fish or pork, of which we have lots).
Apart from that I've had quite a lazy day.
    Have a good weekend.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

misstara 'escaping from work with my sanity intact' says it all really.

sashanut to don't lists are acceptable this month, as long as they help.

LavenderBee glad you got some sleep. Pregnant women are allowed to sleep whenever and wherever they wish, just carrying the baby is enough. Well done on the economical 'use-up' pampering.

dolly84 I love watercress but prefer it when it's ys. I bought an enormous bag of baby spinach leaves as they were cheaper than the titchy watercress pack.

indigo Congratulations on the computer repair, don't worry about the lost NSD. Wonderful money saving.

Toni'sfriend all credit to the boy for turning his life round. Plant power is awesome.

greent well done on debt and mortgage payments.

Kerry Woman doing great on all the practical stuff but remembe to make time for reading, colouring and other fun stuff.

Littleskintdragon I find sleeping in a sort of half sitting position helps when I have a cough. Think the sore throat I had last weekend was due to pollen grains (fighting more than one type atm).

Tropically ouch to the crowbar injury.

swimming your reading target is in the bag.

misstara friends and laughter are wonderful

sashanut congratulations on not buying whatever it was.

nannygladys I know I need more and better quality sleep but I.m not sure about the early to bed, early to rise. I've done thousands of 5am starts in my life and as long as I can make appointments and look after mum, I would prefrer to have a leisurely start to the day and I love reading in the early hours (okay I love reading any time and all times).
It fits better with DS3 and beloved as well - it is no fun being up and trying to get things done whilst creeping about in order to not wake anyone.

Dracula had the right idea. Sleep all day, live alone in a castle and burst into a million bats to get out of awkward social situations.

f0xh0les concentrate on and celebrate what you have achieved and not the 'stilll to do'

EE thanks for the cook from frozen advice.

    thrifty enjoy the Festival.

E11ie Welcome. Hope the daily inspiration helps.

lindez cut yourself some slack and allow yourself to grieve. There will be lots of little reminders, it's okay to be sad but remember the good times as well.

gien you can't change the arrangements so enjoy every single moment of your weekend away.

    Evening all :)

Didn't post yesterday as I went back to bed and stayed there :(
Feeling a bit more human today though, and have got some bits done :)

OH did the shopping yesterday, and I had to pay the milk bill today, so still on 4 NSDs. On the positive side, the shopping only came to £16.59, and I shan't need anything else till after the weekend :)

This is just as well, as I received the car tax reminder yesterday - it had slipped my mind that it is due at the end of this month
Taken more items out of the freezer to use up, and I have 1 empty drawer in the smaller one now :)

All meals have been from home

Used up / frozen some items from the fridge to avoid waste :)

Only annoying thing is that I haven't managed to get to the SM myself yet to do my food bank donation. I have checked their FB page, to see what they are asking for this week, but not actually donated. Will try to do this on Monday.

Grateful for: Plenty of food so that I can avoid spending a lot on shopping when I have big bills to settle :)

Strawberries from the hanging baskets to go with breakfast cereal, and fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden :)
Feeling better than yesterday and getting some things done :)

((Hugs)) Lindez, take care of yourself :(

Hugs to those who need them.
A - Will definitely be asking if it is necessary before purchasing.
J - 5/20 NSD. Was a spend day. Stuck to the list for things I had to get before I got home.
U - Will be looking into cupboards etc and make sure I will not buy unnecessary and use what already in. Already made a list for tomorrow as to what was needed. Going to do a food shop to cover 2 weeks.
N - Will bring lunch etc if going out etc. Do not have to worry about lunch for work as I get free school dinner.
E - Have to make a special effort to more healthy eating. Was ok today and drunk water. Had a few treats that the business manager brought in.
    O - Will do.
D -Have DD for money already set up to go into savings.
E - Walked to work from bus stop. Did walk around the school doing errands today.
S - Have set my budgets.
    S - Done for now.
    E - Checked in.
    Y - Will do.
mothernerd - Do usually read a book on the bus to and from work. Been having good night's sleeps this week as I was tired. Plan to do a few other nice things this weekend.

Okay so it sort of went like:-

one bag of stuff to go back to the kitchen - pots, cutlery, bits of food, lots of empty water bottles and another bag which had plastic lids/ tubs (think I brought it upstairs to match them up, one day when I could face standing up, washing up

    for one second more

a bag (bedding) for the charity shop (waiting for some matching bits to turn up

a bag of paper and card

    a bag of rubbish

bedding, bathmats and towels, clothes for washing all thrown downstairs. Clean towel (on the chair in my room) into the bathroom (followed later by 3 flannels and a new bottle of bath muscle soak)

a bag of t-shirts for rags and one for old sheets already turned into rags

a bag of rubbish (small one)

another cs bag for 'not bedding'

t-shirts and knickers folded/ rolled and put away in the top drawer

skirts and 'posh' tops hung up

jumpers and leggings away in lower drawers

    some 'saved' cardboard discarded

all rolls (wrapping paper, sugar paper, other) tucked into a small corner by the door.

bag of books to go back to the library

bag of toiletries to go to the food bank

all remaining bags (carrier and for life) scooped up and put in 2 other bags

wool squares for blankets, trainers and boots tucked under the bed

and so on, plodding very slowly, through until 5.50am. Woud honestly have stopped sooner except that when I was ready to quit, there was only one tiny corner of the bed available (could squidge there with my body folded in 3). By 5.50am I'd had a bath (got very hot and sweaty at one point) cleared half the width of the bed and put 2 cleansheets and put all the pillows in clean covers.

Set the alarm and had a little sleep. Woke several times, briefly and dozed off again and at 8.45am I felt great.

Then I dozed off again and woke in a panic at 10.30am. Quick wash, got dressed, grabbed water, wraps, filling, tin with pills, packed shopping already bought and picked up bread and milk on the way to the taxi office.

Played with baby twins (well did my best to make them happy as they either cried or crawled after their mother every time she left the room). She gave them buttered quartered cross buns to eat and they both did their best to spread them everywhere.

Hairdresser came and cut mine and mum's hair. Fed everyone and made drinks and at 2.30pm my pre-booked taxi arrived to take me to the infirmary. ECG was a matter of moments, took the results upstairs to the GP. Caught the little bus as far as the bus station, picked up a couple of sandwich bits for tomorrow.

Came home and caught up with you lot and have just had a bath.

Think I'm going to try and sleep. Will read until I doze off. If I am wide awake in the early hours I will continue tidying. I need it done now- it's been dragging on since January. I cleared everything out, built the new cube shelves, rearranged the furniture and since then it's been sorting/ refining/ finding more bits in some categories and going backwards when I've been ill or madly busy. I might have to 'throw' some things.

If I sleep through till morning, it should be early so will still have some time for tidying before meeting mum and waiting for our coach.

Today I am grateful for visible progress, for getting through, for not keeping anyone else waiting, for playing with babies, for my new haircut.

  • Evening everyone,

Took the little one to soft play today, we both had lunch there which brought my social spends to £26.58/£150.

Sent £7.23 to the emergency fund, total added for the month so far is £21.91.

Have had a read of my book today too.
