Hello, not an SFD today as I spent £7 on bread, milk, wraps, avocado's and some fruit.

Had a good gym session, healthy food etc and a good day at work. Nothing much done in the house though apart from the usual chores. Can hopefully catch up with my list tomorrow.

f0xh0les glad the plasterer is finally done and hope everyone who is under the weather or not sleeping well has a better sleep tonight and feels better tomorrow.

Another spend free day today - took my lunch to work and came straight home. Made some lemon curd for the market on Saturday so a really uneventful day all in all.

I'm grateful today for the flowers in my garden
    Trying to keep in budget.

    Good evening all

Today should have been a NSD but hub needed to pay into a kitty at work for socializing, basically. We never benefit, ever. Drives me mad but it is compulsory. Such is army life I suppose. So alas, I now only £67left for the month. The good news is that I had budgeted for it next month & so it will all balance out.

I am trying to make an effort to get back to couponing and being a deal queen. A lot of my MSE ways have stuck but since our cash hasn't been as tight I've let some of the things I used to do slip. I started today by registering my MasterCard with my ice. As recommended by MSE weekly email & I have already had my 1000 point bonus & exchanged them for 2 free books for the kids. I am collecting then from town tomorrow & putting them up for Xmas.

hub has put his name down for driving on Saturday. Not guaranteed he will get it but it is another £30 in the budget if he does. Hurrah.

Running again tonight. I hate every second but I'm always glad once it's done.

Lots to be grateful for - colour popping up all over the garden ,my son talking like the BFG " I is going to bed", the rain outside when I'm snuggled up indoors and home/nursery made cards for fathers day - free & about 10,000% better & more meaningful

gien good luck with the baking. Mum phoned earlier to ask me to get boxes to transport/ display the cakes for the church fair. Think I will cover them with some wrapping paper I have lying around (tey kept all the ones I did at Christmas.

swimming 55p to the EF does make a difference, you've put in £29.15 this month and we're not even half way through, multiply it by 12 months. Never do nothing because you can only do a bit.

misstara 'no exercise apart from cleaning the car' - I'm celebrating because I managed to clean the bathroom properly last week including all the in and out bits on the outside of the toilet.

Fmess thank you for your kind words. We all struggle at times, we all need love and support. As you can imagine, I have been gathering the material used in the 'daily inspiration' for some time. Sometimes I've been too ill to do anything much.

It's only now that I am in a better place mentally that I have the clarity to start grouping them into some sort of logical order (and I've still had to change from the planned order a couple of times because I haven't been able to find the particular quotes I wanted.

A lot of it is things we take for granted when we are at out best (it's 'just' common sense) but when our health slips (or our stress and the demands on our time increase) all our basic self-care needs are the first casualties.

sashanut taking time to listen is so important, especially as men often bottle things up. I went outside earlier and there was wet stuff falling from the sky.

LavenderBee things like swimming tend to be taught by people who are naturally good at it (singing is another example). They don't have the language (memory/ imagination) to think how it was before they could do it. Once a week school swimming lessons were taken by characters ranging from the 'military' to the frankly horrific and shouting was the norm not help or encouragement. When you're nervous about putting your head/ face in the water, someone barking at you doesn't help (obviously f0xh0les had similar experiences).

nannygladys every trip to the freezer becomes an adventure, doesn't it. I knew I had fish and lots of veg but even though I stock checked, I have still found odd little bits hidden under the large packs of veg (1 lone sausage, but then found two more in a small bag).

indigo hugs and much love for tomorrow

Kerry Woman glad you are enjoying the free school meals. When I went to college when DS3 was a baby, the young students were always complaining about the canteen (not enough butter on the toast). I loved the fact that I got a reasonably priced meal that I didn't have to cook.

thrifty you don't have to be 'doing' all the time (I know you enjoy your diy), try to be a human 'being' sometimes.

Crafts today and spent most of it getting ready to go. Went an hour early as had lots of stuff I wanted to tidy. Had taxis both ways as was wiped out by the end of the session. Tried to bring less home than I took but have emptied out the craft hamper, rearranged a lot (all the card together rather than small packages/ part packs with other stuff in between. Still things to do but much better (will be fantastic when it's done).

My room, without the stuff that really belongs at the centre, looks fine, embroidery is mostly sorted (had suitable storage for many years just need to file away threads after finishing a number of works in progress) and my general craft stuff is quite small, though probably a lot more than a couple of years ago (I know I have been buying things I wouldn't buy for myself, but things that would be useful for crafts - not a lot but enough to make a difference).

Took a large bag of items I've collected for the cs, returned some library books and picked up some more (have 3 'romantic' books that I haven't got very far with, need serial killer thrillers to keep me going).

Had lunch at the centre - would have had to buy a sandwich anyway and it cost £3 for 2 cans of coke, a pack of crisp and a sandwich with salad, coleslaw and a few more crisp. Will probably need to spend tomorrow as throat is so sore I need soup, soft sandwich fillings and more coke (lunch would have been a tin of rice pudding if I'd been at home)- after getting my coke consumption down to practically nothing, I've found that this week ice cream and coke are the only things that damp down the pollen grains in my throat.

Today I am grateful for pleasant company at crafts and for people joining in with the sorting, for picking up some interesting books (an early work by the writer of Cold Comfort Farm that was only unearthed a few years ago) and my bed (think perhaps I need to retreat after I've been 'socialising' ).

    Hi all :j

A Ask yourself 'Is this necessary?' Before purchasing anything. no purchases today. When you make a 'to do' list (is it realistic or even possible);made a todo list for today, but then failed to consult it...oops. Carryover to tomorrow.

J June challenge runs from 1st June to 30th. Aiming for tough target. Now 9/20

U Use the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer to base your meals on. Meal plan (for the month or for a few days at a time, whichever suits). Cook from scratch (short cuts permitted if you are feeling stressed) food made from stores for lunch and dinner...

N No takeaways, coffee, chip or pie shop purchases. Nope.

E Eating well is a form of self respect. Good today, trying hard not to eat too much sweet stuff.

O Offer help and encouragement to other turtles and people you meet. Be kind to everyone, especially yourself. Waves pompoms wildly encouragingly!! Was kind to DD today & she was surprisingly grateful, according to DH.

D Debt or savings payments should be made first - live on what is left No debt other than cc I use for all purchases to get rewards - which is paid off in full every month. Will need to get the cc bill down during the month with payments made daily (PAD thread) to avoid large bill at end of month. Another Daily PAD..plus money in paypal from sales..

E Exercise according to your programme or your ability. Minimum of 3 times a week. Try to get outside every day. Outside just late, sadly to water the garden yet again, please can we have some rain..same old, same old...

S Set all your budgets before the start of the month. Food, travel, social, diy, other. Have all receipts in shoebox awaiting DH revival of spreadsheet..maybe tomorrow as out today. More receipts into shoebox...still not done. Another receipt into shoebox..manana..eh

S Someone, somewhere is worse off than you. Donate to the local food bank or other charity of your choice. Clear some of your clutter and donate the goods to charity. Will be amassing stuff to take to CS as I clear the clutter; also intend to sell better items to pay for hols booked for August. More items to list tomorrow, visit from friend this afternoon as we chat drinking tea, it's good.

E Every day check in is recommended, especially when things go wrong. 13/30 here I am..

You are the most important person in your life. You are your own longest term investment. You matter. Read this and the daily quotes, take on anything you find relevant and helpful, ditch the rest. Reading, learning & inwardly digesting. Help and support on here is the best..

Hope you are feeling better Fmess, please look after yourself..also good luck tomorrow indigo..

    Go turtles

  • Morning, popping in with yesterdays update.

Nsd #6 for me yesterday, I'm so happy with this, not even half way through the month. I only got 3 in the whole of last month!

I had a tin of salmon going out of date this month, so I made some fish cakes. I wasn't fussed tbh, but dh and dd really enjoyed them, so that was a win.
I've got fish in the freezer which I'll defrost for tonight.

I also painted a wall in the house, it looks so nice and fresh now, I'm so pleased that I did it.

I think I'm all out of money until the 25th, I have savings, which I'm going to have to use, but this is really disappointing.
Hoping for a nsd again today, just taking ds to a playgroup (£1.50) but I think I can still have a nsd??
I'll relook at budgets today, I think my child benefit went into savings, but I'd originally budgeted it for the months spends, so I might just have to transfer that over to my current account, or part of it at least.

Had 2 early nights, and feel slightly better, but not great. I never miss a run but i feel so run down this week.

    I am grateful for -
    Food in the cupboard
    Lovely friends
Rain to water my plants and fill the Waterbutt
Dd coping well with her school tests
A nice time with ds2 in the park yesterday.

    I am here!

Wating for the plaster to dry, impatiently.

I have a list to work through - lots of annoying niggly 5 minute jobs. lots of them. Really, I mean LOTS, but it is nice to be able to cross off so many things in a day.

Also, missing DS2, who is probably having a whale of a time on school trip.
Also found out how he has outwitted the parental controls on his xbox. ha ha. Back to 2 hr limit per day at the weekend. Sucker!

£10 M&S voucher from survey cashout site. Will buy myself something on my next spend day - which should be tomorrow as I have to go to town to go to the bank.

Keep safe if your weather is horrid. Sadly no let up in the pollen levels. I have been in bed by 8.30 with terrible headaches for the last 3 nights. Throat feels like I have been gargling glass shards. Being allergic to breathing is stupid.
