Suggs would tuck Petrichor under one arm, battery under the other rugby style and run off with them, fending off all challengers :D

I've never made the connection before that 159lb is almost mine and my son's weight combined. You have my unending respect Suggs! What a lovely compliment to receive from that lady as well.

Hi everyone, sorry still not up to posting much but am still reading! Well done to everyone who deserves it, and there are a lot of you for lots of reasons, but especially because you're ace :D

Suggs, how lovely to get that compliment! People so often don't say what they're thinking so it's great to hear that; makes the world a much nicer place.

Glad we've cleared up the Joey or Emma debate, I was confused too so you're definitely not alone Pet! Really great to have you back with us again, glad to hear you're feeling a little better.

Missyg, I like the idea of holding something equivalent to the weight I've lost - it's not that much at mo but will still inspire me. I might find something that weighs the total I want to lose as well so I can imagine how great I'll feel when I'm not carrying all that around too. (oh and can't remember if I replied, yes it was the marathon, only done it the once...so far:D, had another place but got ill).

Well done Marion, hope you see a good result next week too. I'm looking at a gain this week but I'd have been happy to lose the same amount over 2 weeks so I'm pretty okay with that (if I have to have the Dementor in my life then it'll just be par for the course sometimes:rolleyes:).

I'm sure there was other stuff I wanted to say...

Oh yeah, try brown basmati rice JoeyEmma, it's lower GL/GI. Also have some protein with your porridge to help the energy release more slowly - same goes with every meal in fact, or piece of fruit. If you can't resist the food at the picket then go for two smaller meals instead maybe. Good luck with it all.

    Serendisglair
, good idea about the olive oil in a bottle - trying to get OH to use less of it so might try that when I get a chance, thanks!

Is it Victory with the nasty boss? Good luck today, avoidance sounds like a key strategy!

Sorry if I've missed stuff, no doubt I have, posting little and often might be better. Trying to work out a vague 'back to work' plan here - ideally, I want to get up to 16 hours by September '08 so I can take a paid p/t job but not sure if I can manage it. I'm going to try upping my hours by 1 hour every 3 weeks and see how it goes - that'll get me to 13 hours I think, with the summer hols to keep working on my stamina. It'll depend how much I'm supporting and teaching though, as they require very different energy levels (and lots more time for prep/marking with the latter). It's only a rough plan as I will need to listen to my body and BE PATIENT (I'm not a massive Take That fan but their song Patience is one of the anthems of my illness :D). Anyway, it's miserable here so back under the duvet for me to finish Kensuke's Kingdom xx

    well done retiredlady:j :j
yes it is me with the nasty boss:D wasn't so bad today, ignore that is what I say and maybe she will go away:rotfl:

It is always nice when people comment on the weight loss;)

Sts this week, happy with that, this time of year I have to take off my boots as well so it all ends up a kefaffle:rotfl: boots, belt, thick jumper, coat:rotfl:

anyway off to make 0 point roast tomato and garlic soup from the WW xmas mag, they say you should eat loads of that to fill up if you find yourself cheating over the xmas period:D

We have our xmas do on saturday, no turkey either pork medallion or steak and ale pie (festive?!!) so we have chosen pork medallion with veg and dessert is mince pies with H will eat as I do not eat them, far too sugary for me, H says that they have brought in a local cook so not to expect much, I think I will eat my normal food before I go and sit and do the motions with a little pork, no starters so no prawn cocktail, hardly worth going really:rotfl: but it is obligatory.

I am getting really stressy about tomorrow, I have to go to London for the photos/make over and two things one is I have three huge spots:rotfl: (stress) been told they will cover them with loads of make up so that is not so bad the other is that I cannot even if I wanted to afford the photos (take 4/6 outfits it says) and I have to be at the other side of London for my Arthritis check up at 2.15, so the short version of the story is do you think I would be able to take just one outfit, speed them along and tell them that I will not be buying any of the extra photos (one comes free) so not to bother taking loads so as to not waste their time or mine and be able to make the appointment or does that come across bad?

In the deal is the hair cut, make up and one photo, the others are £50 plus and at this time of year that is the least thing I would want to spend money on.

I am so stressed and I am supposed to be looking forward to it:rotfl: :rotfl:

... I wouldn't tell them that bit as that would be the perfect trigger for "let me explain our easy payment options to you". There are better ways of spending half an hour than having some dullard bint waffle in your ear about that.

Thanks Ajax I know what you mean, I want to get in and out as fast as poss because of the appointment with the arthritic team which I cannot miss as missed the last one and because I do not want to be cornered into parting with money I have not go for such an indulgence... I thought about not taking my card with me so that I have no way of paying for them if I do get dragged into the heavy sell but then I am going a long way and would be silly to go that far and not be able to have access to money....

.......I dunno how bolshy you are, but my method is to grab as many as I can of whatever is free, and then say something akin to "How much? You're having a laugh. It's not what I call value for money and I'd like to leave now please"

.... just don't pay. Tell them Martin Lewis would kick your butt if you wasted your money on such a pointless luxury.

OK then folks and folkettes, I'm looking for your input please. It's MrsA's birthday very soon and she's said she doesn't really want to go out this year (we usually go to a restaurant), she'd like to "just stay in with a bottle of wine". I didn't argue, cos I know she's only doing it so that the MSE dog Bailey isn't left on his own or with relatives needlessly.
So, I thought, I can bring the restaurant experience to Casa Ajax but do it in a totally cheesy OTT way - six courses! The thing is, I'm just a primitive creature of the heath so I don't even know what constitutes six courses :o . i'm guessing at starter, sorbet, main, dessert, cheese tray, coffee and mints. Am I miles off?

Also, I'd like ideas for courses. If my above list is about right then corn soup with bread is almost nailed on for starter, I reckon after a bit of trial and error I can knock up a forest fruit sorbet, but then what? I'd like to cook everything myself where possible, and I have very limited skills. All ideas welcome.

Obviously reasonably LW-friendly. (EDIT: .. and veggie)
  • :j Well done Marion, it's good to see you back on the weight loss wagon :j ...

...but what a lovely compliment to have said to you Suggs, I can only dream of that as well...

...Ajax it makes you realise just what our legs/feet/joints have to put up with when we carry all this excess weight, imagine carrying that sack of potatoes around with you all day  but you did in effect before, scary!! Re the meal for MrsA, how lovely (another thing that I can only dream of) but one thing to consider is to prepare as much as you can beforehand, if something can be made and frozen the week before then do it, don't leave everything until the last minute; it's all in the preparation.

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
