But I think it's in our minds... mother always told us to have a hot meal in cold weather .... and also because somehow we know that we can more easily hide inside our clothes in the winter! But if anyone's making soup I'll have some please.
.......... don't underestimate it. I was watching some nature program once and it said an Eskimo needs about 6000 calories every day just to stay alive - and it's almost all fat (no problem - consume fat, burn fat in same day. Net result = no fat). So while it's nowhere near as cold in Slough as Eskimoland, there has to be some greater calorific need in the cold.0 -
yep, I was in the Oak Road end, and only a little 17 year old
probably the same weight now though
Now theres a thought, 22 years later and I am back at my weight when I was in sixth form for the first time
Now thats something to smile about
..... yeah, definitely! That's an achievement in any circumstances.0 -

Hi everyone! Haven't logged on for a coupla days, just finished catching up on all the pages I've missed!
Welcome JoeyEmma and congratulations on giving up smoking, best of luck with your weight loss.
Dragon, so sorry to hear about your injury, hope you feel a lot better soon.
Weighed yesterday and I have lost another 1lb which I am pleased with. It's still coming off, every 1lb is really hard work and it seems slow progress but as long as it's coming off I'm happy! My latest goal is to weigh 8½ stone on Christmas morning (and hopefully not 9 stone on Christmas evening, ha!) So 3lb to go!
Good luck with weigh in Victory and everyone else who has one today.
I shall be doing the Suggs workout later to see if I can improve on my 670cal from last weekHi Suggs

Missyg Thank you! Tomorrow it will be 11 months since I quit!
So, update on the last 12 hours! Last night I made pilau rice (with left over chicken) like I normally do, except for using Fry Light instead of ghee or oil. I can honestly say it was the most bland and boring pilaf I have ever made, despite the cardamom, bay leaves, chilli and cinnamon. Grrhhhh! This mornings breakfast was porridge, but I'm already hungry again!.
I've realised that over the past couple of weeks I've been doubling up on breakfast. We're on industrial action at work, which means standing on a picket line every morning. We have a camping gas stove going and every day I seem to have breakfast before I leave the house and then a veggie sausage sandwich. Although Quorn sasuages are free on SW, the bread and ketchup must all be adding up! Today I had one Quorn sausage (hot from the pan- purely to warm me up) but no bread etc.0 -

... a great big fat baked potato wrapped in foil and dangled over the brazier sounds the way to go - espesh when a mountain of beans is poured over it. Cheap, and free on a green.
Fight on, comrade!! (that's the union rep in me coming out)0
