BrightonBelle, Bails and Ajax After a long period (all of half an hour), I've realised that I don't really need to spend £5.50 a week for somebody to weigh me and tell me what I already know. After a discussion with OH, he now has permission to tell me off (in a positive caring way of course!) when I go wrong.
To be honest, I know what I need to do-
1. Have a healthier more filling breakfast- it is porridge season after all
2. Dump the oil and butter for Fry Light (I do have it in the house, it just doesn't taste as nice!)
3. Cut out the 5pm snacks of a piece of toast, butter and marmite or piece of cake (you need something to go with the cup of tea when you get home!)
4. Use smaller amounts of cheese when I'm cooking and go for lower fat cheeses where possible (eg mozzarella instead of cheddar).
5. Less bread. Even though I buy wholemeal, I know that a thick cut slice isn't that great for you.
6. Increase intake of low GI foods to fill me up (see porridge for breakfast).
7. When peckish in town, work past Greggs and go and buy an apple instead! (but I do love a hot cheese and onion).
To be honest, I don't eat that badly, but its the knob of butter in this, the odd pasty here that all adds up and sticks on the hips.0 -

And do plan a tasty 5pm snack for when you come home tired - something you look forward to but just isn't fat/sugar laden as you say. (Could be bread and marmite without the butter?)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

......yeah, I'll pick it up.
11. Don't be too hard on yourself. Most people who fail do so because they can't resist that iced bun, have that iced bun and think "Oh well I've blown it now, might as well have pizza and chips". Diets are for fools, lifestyle changes are for winners, but healthy eating includes the occasional treat when it's needed. It helps in the long run.
12. Whatever plate you use now, use a slightly smaller one for a while.
13. Try and stick to some kind of tried and tested plan, but definitely without paying for it. All the support is on here - point/syn values, whatever. Someone always has the answer. It helpsto have something to stick to, it focuses the mind.0 -
