Bails thank you for your encouragement! Thank you for answering the q about body fat too, I'm not really interested in a 'somewhat theoretical' measurement so I'll just give that one a miss I think!
Out of interest has anyone done theirs with any of the methods Bails mentioned? (Have you, Bails?) If so, what did you think?
I want to hear how you're doing too Bails so please post an update on yourself when you get chance.
Petrichor - the frame thing is certainly interesting even if I'm not sure what to make of it! So thank you for raising that one. I think I'll hedge my bets and call myself a medium!
My little boy is absolutely screeching with laughter (one of the loveliest sounds in the world!) at something on the telly, I'm off to investigate...0 -
As a week is a long time to think back in forum-world, to recap I was on a challenge to try to ease up on myself, having got into a bit of a horrible spiral of eating too little, exercising too hard, and having my weight loss grind to almost a halt.
Well I am pleased to say I stuck it out, increased cals by maybe 10% and eased up a lot on the exercise (fewer, easier workouts). Midweek was awful, I had gained 4lb which had taken me over a month of massive effort to get off! However on weigh in today I have an overall loss of ¼lb. I know this is nothing and I might as well have stayed the same, but psychologically that ¼lb is very important to me! I now know I can ease up a bit and still lose, so I'll continue the same way, and hope I'm sending the right signals to my body now so that I can shift these last stubborn 4lb!
Missyg: well done you. I was very happy to read your post as I was feeling a bit worried about you but didn't now how to express it with out raining on your parade or coming across in the wrong way.I think that has taken great courage to recognise you were maybe getting into a dangerous downward spiral.:T Thanks for sharing so honestly. And what's great is that your body has now shown you it can more than handle a bit more food and a bit less full on exercise. The last 4 lbs will take a long time, as looking at your bmi you must be very slim by now, so easing up will be doing yourself a favour in the long run, to keep your life style change sustainable.
You'll be pleased to hear I have today bought myself a few more clothes:D . Some lovely fuchia velvet trousers, purple cords and some spotty Boden tops (I love spotty things... well not my skin obviously :rotfl: ) I ordered size 16 and 14 coz I still didn't trust that I really was now a 14, but blow me, I really am:j . Cost me a small mortgage, but hey, I'm worth it :A

Thanks for your messages about my WW leader everyone.
I know I've only been back at classes with her since August and it may seem pretty stupid but my entire home town is in shock as she's touched so many people's lives. Bernie was my leader when I first joined WW at the tender age of 17. She was a leader for 22 years and I've never known anyone with as much joie de vivre as Bernie - she always enjoyed the "craic" and was always good for a laugh and sent herself up most of all. I cou'dn't help but think of her last class when she was telling us about the sacrifices we all have to make to lose weight. She loved butter but only ever bought 1/2 a pound of butter at Christmas!
You are all completely right. It has put quite a few things in perspective for me, firstly, you never know when it's going to be you. sencondly, how blessed I am to have the life and home that I have. thirdly, how much I don't want to be this weight for the rest of my life. The tradition of carrying the coffin is still a very strong one and one of my motivations for losing weight is that I couldn't bear if my family, nephews/brothers had to carry my coffin with me in it at 16 stone something! Not something you want to think about but still something we all have to face.
starlight - sorry you were disappointed this week. I totally understand where you're coming from. It gets so frustrating. A wee bit of advice - try to eat more veggies. I always found doing WW worked better if you made an effort to eat more vegetables. Perhaps you've been stuck in a rut food wise? Try changing the foods that you've been eating - or maybe switch to the core plan for a week and see how that works for you?
missyg well done on finally losing that little bit of weight - it can be a real struggle don't you think?
bb a maintain for me this week please as I won't be getting weighed until next week.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Woo for Team 21... *gets the pom-poms out*
Vixarooni, it's a thrilling piece, defining what exactly classes as conceptual clothing is... Needless to say, it's a pretty pointless essay!! Oh well... Back in the workshop tomorrow, much more fun
Lol, Bails, I'm already queen of the highlighters as far as my group are concerned... My notes, diary and calendar look really really pretty though!! Ok, so it makes no sense to anyone else... but there's a method to it all, honest!**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0 -

..... 6lbsSO disappointed
I seem to yo-yo... loose a bit, put it on, loose a bit, put it on. I feel ashamed to be on a diet at only 21
How do you maintain dieting?? I need something that I can stick to
Don't be ashamed there's nothing to be ashamed about. i think you need a huge congratulations for tackling your demons before you get older and it gets harder!!!
I find the only way for me to maintain my dieting is to join a group, as I have a goal to achieve every week by just going along.
In a way as well you need to look at retraining your new eating habit to becoming your new lifestyle.
Good luck!Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0 -
Yay for team 21! ...but it seems I made a typo in my state
..i'm 22 (nearly 23)
...Can I pretend??
Now probably isnt really the time to start on my 'diet' again.... although work is my downfall when it comes to binge eating. so with 2 weeks off I should be good! When i'm at home I hardly eat cos i'm either busy or cant be bothered to move!
I work in town so food is easy to come across. Today though I spent 25 MINUTES in Boots waiting to pay for my dinner. I'd much rather wake up earlier and make dinner than waste my lunch times like that. Xmas shoppers = badbadbad!0 -
Oh BB, you have my dream job! Why do you think I can't wait to get back to work...Consortium catalogues!:D My dad reckons I could set up my own stationery shop with all the things currently stored in his garage. Which reminds me, I must make room for them here...on my shrine :rotfl:
Yes, Missy I have had my body fat measured - much as I'd have liked to, I decided against the water one (one mortgage is enough!). I've had the electronic and caliper tests - the calipers I wouldn't bother with again I don't think unless I thought someone really knew how to use them; the pads seemed fairly accurate. I had the electronic one done about 12 years ago though; the only way I've measured it recently is on my scales, which are about 8-10% out, so I simply use them to gauge if it's going down, not what it actually is. Having previously done a lot of sport, and having put on around 2 1/2 stone, I know that in real terms I have put on a lot more as my muscles have wasted away. All in good time though...
As for me, I'm doing well thanks, just had another lovely weekend away with my mates in Manchester. Went on a walk with my best mate from uni who's now 6 1/2 months pregnant, and I was fitter than her for the first time in a couple of years, lol! Managed hills and everything. Even bought my first copy of Trail for years (used to get it on subscription) so it must be seeming less like torture and closer to hill p%rn again. I was with a new class today, having now upped my hours to 3 a week - Year 9 bottom set; I LOVED it!! Things are 110% with my OH and am v happy with life (which is more than can be said for the rest of my support group who I met up with today, sadly). The weight is an aside for me, which is up and down and coming off gradually; coming out of isolation after 2 years means I'm not prepared to sacrifice my regained social life for the scales, and I am more than happy with that choice. My birthday is still in mind for my goal and I will get there, but in a relaxed way.
As part of that, I'll be opting out of WI this week but will weigh in again next week so just put me down for a STS thanks BB.
Off for a yummy bath and then bed with my book - OH is in Oxford so just me and the boys, lovely!
EDIT: Krayzechick, I reckon that's fine, in fact we can all be in Team 21 (I'm about 17, in mental age, and sometimes IQ!:D)The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000
