I feel like i should stand up and say i have a problem :p

When i was 16 i was i size 16, it was probably the worst time of my life because everyone else was the size of my thigh compared to me! I used to never go shopping for the fear of needing size 16 trousers, it was just that number "16" that i absolutly hated. At my lowest point if i was sitting at a table i would wait for everyone to get up first, because getting up first would mean people would be looking at my body, it was horrible. Anyway to cut it short i started swimming with a friend and the combination of walking out in a pool in a swimsuit and the swimming helped me immensly. I got down to a small size 12 by the time i was 18 or so, maintained it but now at 21 its all creeping back on. I think half of it is because i met my boyfriend, he eats for england and whenever he eats i do, temptation is my number one enemy, i just cant say no :(

When i went shopping last week i needed size 14 trousers. I felt rubbish, took me right back to being 16 so i know i gotta do something about it.

Ive had a look at a few of these sites, i weigh 10 stone 3 roughly, apparently i should be 8 and a half. im 5'3, quite a small frame and i have hips the size of the dartford tunnel ha. But realistically they are huge.

i also havent a clue how im going to do it, im such a fussy eater that most of the diets i wouldnt touch with a barge pole! i do apologise for the long rambling post!

    Welcome vix,

    firstly good luck!

when you say you are a fussy eater...how fussy? There are lots of diets that allow you to eat almst normally just lower fat etc.

Maybe you could try calculating your basal metabolic rate and seeing what your calorie intake should be and then reducing it slightly.
My downfall was portion control as OH is almost a foot taller than me and can eat for England too learning how much a portion should be has been extremely helpful to me.

Lastly can I suggest you get yourself some healthier snacks that you like so when you OH is snacking you can too just with different stuff.

Hi vixarooni: welcome2.gifwell done for sharing your story and taking the plunge to join us - it is always a good time and many of us here will relate to your story and struggles with weight, and self esteem. Do you fancy joining a scheme like WW or slimming world, or going for healthy eating and portion control - peeps on here are doing it all sorts of different ways. It sounds like you are tackling your weight before it gets really bad, though I hear you loud and clear how bad you are feeling :grouphug: . You know you've done it before, and youth is still very much on your side to do it again. A new partner brings lots of nice things but can throw eating patterns - can you get your boyfriend on board to help in terms of eating some of his treats out of sight, and don't forget your food portions need to be smaller than his (possibly buy yourslef a smaller plate - that's what I have, so it looks like I have huge pile of food, but it is still less than my OH's.
Most importatntly, keep posting and asking questions. We are a very supportive bunch. We run a 5lb challenge each mnoth than has only just started - you post you loss on Wed and the chart of everyon'es losses gets posted wed evening (read post one of this forum for further explanation.) It's a self chalenge - we are not competing against each other. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Ajax - so glad op has gone ok. Yes, you are going to have to getthe whip out (and I'm sure you've got one :D )and make sure Mrs a gives herself a chance to recover properly - take it from us on here whoses health is naff - it's not worth playing the hero. Inconvenience is frustrating, but in the scheme of things, out of 80 years, a couple of months isn't a lot (I say that with full sympathy, just desparate for her to let herself recover properly )

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

    Hi guys,

Had a bit of a setback this weekend and haven't felt up to posting. I found out last night that my WW leader was killed in a car accident on Saturday morning.

I very much doubt I'll have a weigh in this week. Not even weightwatchers can be that organised!

Glad to hear mrs a's operation went well ajax - take bb's advice and make her recuperatate as much as possible. It's really not worth the hassle later on.

Welcome vixarooni - you'll get loads of great advice and support on here!

  • after 3 months of eating reasonably healthy, exercising a fair bit and being positive, I jumped on the scales tonight and have lost....

    ..... 6lbs :( SO disappointed :(

I seem to yo-yo... loose a bit, put it on, loose a bit, put it on. I feel ashamed to be on a diet at only 21 :(

How do you maintain dieting?? I need something that I can stick to :(

    Hi Peeps

I thought I'd had a carp weekend (busy busy busy but ending up with nothing to show for it) until I caught up with your posts - julesgr Sorry to hear about your Nan, it's not want you want to hear anytime and least of all at this time of year - ditto delly about your WW leader - :grouphug: to you both...

She's being bullied by me into taking things as easy as possible for the week - ie a week of catching up on old recorded TV and film. I only wish I could take half of the inconvenience from her for a couple of months. :(
Thanks for that lovely sounding recipe:j , I think it seems ideal for the Christmas period. I'm glad the meal was a success, but what an awful thing to happen to MrsA, she's certainly lucky to have you (I think I'll have to get MrP to read your posts the miserable git:rotfl: ) ...

...Welcome vixarooni 6og225u.gifas you say that you're a fussy eater I would suggest that you calorie count, and that way you can include the foods that you like. If you go to the start of the thread you'll find some links to sites that can help and give you a few ideas. 1300 cals sounds about right to me (I'm 5'3" too) and you can always adjust as necessary, I agree with julesgr that you try a BMR site too. I would also suggest that you keep a food diary, as it's so easy to eat more than you think you do :o . I wish you success...

...krayzechick I'm sorry that you've only lost 6lbs, but at least it's off and not on, so look on the positive side :j Well done :j . As I said above, include foods that you like, that way you won't feel deprived of anything. Also, don't look on it as a diet, treat it as healthy eating, which it is because you don't lose weight eating fat laden stuff. You will soon break the old bad habits and make new good habits which will stay with you for the rest of your life. It's a matter of will power :j and you will do it :D ...

    I hope everyone has a lovely/better day...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
