Asparagus - what to make?!
Comments

There's a glorious sounding recipe in the BBC GoodFood magazine this month for asparagus cream pasta.
Basically, it uses a small tub of double cream, a little garlic, an ounce of parmesan and the stalks of the asparagus (steamed and blitzed) in the sauce, mixed with pasta and the boiled heads of the aparagus.
The heads only take a couple of minutes to cook. The stalks take about 5 minutes, but if you're cooking them whole the heads won't suffer for slightly longer cooking. (I steam them.)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
If it's very fresh & you've got a microwave. Put it in a container with about a spoon of water for a couple of minutes then serve with butter. Yummy.

Does he know that it makes your wee smell funny?
I like it roasted in the oven with a litle olive oil, salt and pepper. I then grate a generous amount of proper parmesan on top although it's also nice without so that bit's optional. Roasted asparagus is also nice served warm as part of a salad or asparagus soldiers - dipped into soft boiled eggs. Hollandaise is one of the classics to serve with asparagus but I have never made Hollandaise at home - I think there is an 'easier' way with a blender?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Smoked salmon and asparagus quiche. As long as the asparugus isn't old and woody, cut it into 2.5cm lenghts and put raw into the quiche. Otherwise steam or microwave first.

They're very nice steamed but make sure you don't over cook them. They can also be boiled or lightly fried or thrown into a stirfry, curry etc.The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

YUM!!!!!!!!!!
I chuck them in thai curries, stir fry and on top of spanish tortilla, but also fry them up in a little butter, with sugar snap peas, musrooms and slices of courgette..............then add in a dash of sherry when it's at a high temp so it almost caramalises!Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts.
