Not one of mine, but one of Huge Furry-Whatisname's.

I just love it because it's so simple and so different. I would never in a million years have thought of serving asparagus like that.

This is actually a very old way of eating it.:D My grandfather maintained two asparagus beds in his huge Surrey garden. As kids we were often given asparagus to dip in eggs. Strangely the season seemed a lot shorter back then than now:confused: Odd really when you consider most things seemed longer. Peas were in season for a shorter time too. I haven't eaten it like this for years, but it remains one of my favourite veggies. Has to be English though;)

I adore asparagus, but have a very matter of fact attitude to cooking it because in NZ we used to buy it by the kilo! By the end of asparagus season, it just went into stir fries. My usual way of cooking it is to roast it - it takes 20-25 minutes. Tonight I did it with some cherry tomatoes, olive oil and sprinkles of salt and pepper. Yum.

Once my asparagus beds get going, this is what I'll be doing, too, using my hens' FR eggs with bright orange yolks

I'll add this to the exisitng thread of asparagus recipes ;)
