Virgn SIM 6 Months free from Car Phone Warehouse

Hi

I'm thinking about taking up the offer of the 6 months free Virgin sim through Car Phone Warehouse. I've just come to the end of another that I had through E2Save and had a few problems getting my cashback from them.

Has anyone else had any experience with Car Phone Warehouse and cashback? I'd be interested to know good or bad before I take the plunge again.

Thanks

Wayne

We had a bit of a tussle over the way they worded the bill required. They asked for the third and sixth bills. When I sent the third bill they rejected the claim on the basis that they wanted the bill that arrived in my third month of connection. As I connected at the end of the month my third bill was the one received in the fourth month. They actually wanted my second bill!!!!

Confused???? Many people were and it lead to many posts on this forum.

In the end they agreed to pay up and I got my full £90 returned. I don't think everyone else was as lucky though.

Although E2Save have good deals on I won't be taking them up on their constant offers.

They'd want the third bill now. Seem to want to play move the goalposts. cpw warehouse is only one claim in month 4? If you order early in the month there shouldn't be any real complications as to which bill, I'd have thought. They DO pay when things are clear and complied with. Unfortunately most of the deals there now are not clear because they don't follow the actual t&c people signed up to - which they stole from a competitor on the pretext of "price-matching - in the first place. Of course, they price-match NOTHING worth matching either!

I know. They are like a barrel load of monkeys!

I will wait until the first day of next month before ordering and go through Quidco to get some extra cash back just in case.

    Right!! So to confirm:-

    1. Use Quidco.
    2. Order early in month.
    3. Copy everything, recorded delivery etc in correct timescale.

Subject to above u should be ok. Quidco money u get covers the cost of recorded delivery etc and gives u the free calls/texts.

So if u are on payg spending £15 or more pm you have nothing to lose even if they go bust/disappear.

PS. Cancellation notice required by Virgin? Easily sorted out?

Seems to be on Virgin. By phone, not even sure you need to give notice. Not difficult, anyhow.

Does someone know if it is easy to port an existing virgin number with this 6 months deal? I am at the end of a 12 months contract and was thinking of taking the offer for cable customers: 300txts/300min for £10 per month, but obviously I prefer a free contract! With the cable offer, it was just a question of calling them and the existing SIM is remotely "reformated" (cannot think of another word) to the new tarif, very easy, but here, I wonder how it works... I really would like to keep my number...

    I found Virgin wonderful.

I emailed them early in month four of my contract to ask them about giving notice. They got back within hours saying that if I wished they could sort it out straight away so that the contract would end at the end of month six. They also arranged to change the sim to a paygo. All I had to do was reply to the email to say it was ok. They said that they would take this as my notice.

Job done without any fuss or wasted time.

    Thanks for that folks.

Wayne, I think you might have answered your own question to some degree at least, just get the timing right for the bills.

I'll give it a go first full week in November.

I've decided to order my new sim through Quidco on 1st Nov. Hopefully this should avoid any confusion. Also I am hoping that because the deal is done through Car Phone Warehouse (rather than through another company that they own) they won't make things too tricky in case of bad publicity.

I have no doubts about using Virgin though. Customer service is second to none. They even gave me £5 credit when they converted my sim to pay as you go.

    What lovely people!!
