Sounds like a lovely time with your sister. Had to smile that your pantry is still chocka with tinned peaches, lol. I like overnight oats too - yes you could defo use some peaches up there. I like the sound of baked oats too.....saw a recipe the other week for those, topped with banana before they went in the oven & they looked lovely.
Nice to know the police are still just keeping a bit of an eye out for you, too.

  • Great to hear you had a good day with your sis and the kids seemed to win a watch from it too!

It's also reassuring that the police and checking in. Yes it might be a bit late, but it's better than not at all.

Hope you had a good sleep.
  • Yes - it's the same peaches. I had 9 tins you know! Still have 4. Good job I quite like peaches. :D I am going to make a crumble when I get round to kicking myself into gear and sorting it out. Overnight oats were yummy for breakfast though :D
Survived the first day back, with just a 6 week half term ahead f0xh0les. We have a fortnight off with Easter weekend right at the end of the hols rather than in the middle. I am already looking forward to it. However, I think I settled quicker than the kids did - my Year 9 classes were both dreadful and very hard work. I am tired tonight, but have a few things I need to do balancing exam and real work. A few more deadlines coming up so decent time management required.
I was lucky enough that neither of my tutees needed me this weekend, but I have already decided that I'm not going to continue with tutoring once these two are done at school. One finishes this year and one next year. It's nice to have the extra money but the older I get - the more I think I just need the time rather than the money - plus I get quite a bit of extra exam work these days which pays better as well...
Nothing else to report - I'm going to get on and get something done as I have a bit of a list this evening...
  • So... the exam marking contracts have started to arrive, and so far I have been offered three, and am expecting at least another three. This is too many for me to balance across a 2 month window as well as a full time job. However, there is a small part of me that really fancies the challenge and the money... However, I don't think that my sanity will thank me for it no matter how much my finances will. It's pretty rubbish being a one income household, and still paying for the separation and getting no contribution from the ex. I need to have a good long think about it and try and make some sensible decisions.
Another day of bad behaviour today at work. I feel as though I'm struggling to get everything done in between dealing with the apathy and attitude that seems to be striking on a daily basis. Ah well. I am trying not to let it get to me... It's easy to focus on the negatives when there are so many positives as well - most of the kids are fantastic, the other staff are great - oh, and I am too old to retrain into another career :rotfl: I had a dream last night that I went back to my university (I graduated 20 years ago this year) and couldn't find my way around etc. A bit weird - not sure what my brain is trying to tell me :rotfl:
I'm spending the evening under a blanket, with a cup of tea and my crochet and very much enjoying free time and telly before the next lot of marking arrives (in about a week). Looking forward to EastEnders, Holby and Shetland. Happy days. :D

Enjoy the calm before the storm!
  • Bit of a Groundhog Day feel today, and I haven't been in the best of moods if I'm being honest. I'm really, really tired and struggling to get back into work. The behaviour is hard, and things just don't feel quite right when I'm there but I don't know why... My colleagues are great and most of the kids are great. I thought I was having a bit of a mid life crisis - I might still be for all I know, but I am hoping it's just a bit of back to work blues. Everything just feels a bit 'much' and I'd quite like to hide from the world. I don't want a new car, or a motorbike, or a much younger boyfriend. Just a good rest and no debt - I'm not greedy :D
I've done something very, very scary. I've taken out a loan. OMG, what is wrong with me? But... it was at 4.9% apr compared to the current 24.9% on my credit card, and I've borrowed enough to clear the card, overdraft, ancient joint loan that me and ex have (9.6%) (and he's left me with) and pay bank of mam back as well, with a bit left over to put into the solicitor fund. I know consolidation is an awful idea, but I really prefer the idea of a loan rather than cards, and one payment at a much lower rate. I really just hope that I don't end up racking up even more... I can't believe that 10 years ago I would have applied for a loan without batting an eyelid, and taken whatever I can get my hands on. This time I've carefully worked out what I need, and how much I can save in interest. I hope I can make this work...

To be honest I think you have done the best thing for you at this moment in time.
You have taken everything into account & made the right decision.
The APR is lower too :D

  • Consolidation does work in some circumstances. I had a consolidation loan that I finished paying in 2017 and I found it easier to have 1 payment date and a set amount being paid back each month.

  • I think being in debt is all about attitude, my current CC debt was a loan and CC debt but the CC is a lower interest (ie 0%) so I did it.

Sometimes it is the best thing to do. End of.

And we will pay it off XXXXX

Also, we aren't too old to retrain. Damnit.

Actually - I think you are younger then me so you can definitely retrain!
