Auction winner says phone is cracked!

not when the screen is cracked...
thanks for the tip though.0 -
It's entirely possible the guy has swapped the back casing on your phone with the broken phone he already bought. You should take the phone somewhere to get them to access the actual imei of the actual phone with *#06# (as you can't do it yourself because of the cracked screen). Email the buyer telling him that you're taking the phone to a repair shop to get the imei checked properly. See what he says to that.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

take it to a local shop/market stall. they should be able to get the imei when they connect it up to the computer.
for example this is what you get when you power a sony ericsson up in flash mode16:25:46| Profiling SEMC phone... 16:25:46| Baseband ID: DB2020 16:25:46| OTP CID: 51 16:25:46| EROM CID: 52 16:25:46| EROM Color: Red 16:25:46| IMEI: 3512345678901234 16:25:46| Phone ID: K810

Well, unless anyone says otherwise, im going to send him the following message. feel free to suggest edits,
Hi,
Regarding the Samsung D900 you won through my auction, im having difficulty in seeing how this phone has become damaged. I sent it in working order, which has been witnessed, into the original Samsung box, into additional packaging. This was then sent through UPS, a reliable courier i have used 100 times before without error. The packaging you returned shows no damage and UPS will not deliver damaged parcels (and therefore cannot be claimed for). I therefore can only think the phone was damaged upon receipt. Also, the way the screen has cracked looks like it occurred when the phone was slid open, and therefore more susceptible to damage. (perhaps in an effort to remove the back, to access the SIM card holder). I will return the phone to yourself in its current condition.

sounds good, but your problem will come when he refuses to accept the return parcel at his end.
You could however send it in a whacking big box to confuse him, perhaps with a friends return address on it?0 -
surely he would be better to accept the phone than to have nothing?0

But for you to be adequately insured you need to put a return address on the parcel. Therefore when it gets to his end he refuses it and it gets sent back to you.0 -
Just be careful not sure where you stand doing this with paypal, hopefully someone can advise you, otherwise if he opens a paypal dispute and they find in his favour you will have lost both phone and money.0

Is it worth giving paypal a call and see what they think?
(apologies if you already did this, I havent read back!)0
