Hi,
I sold my phone on ebay, and they have contacted me saying that the phone has a black screen and is cracked! I sent it well packaged in its box and was fine when i sealed it.. Are they trying to pull a fast one to get their money back? I sent it via UPS (through work) so not sure if im insured.. Where do i stand? Don't want to lose £50! They have a feedback of 15, This is a link to their feedback (not sure if i can post it, so remove if necessary)

Thanks for your help!

well they will have ot return it for a refund so you will see.
did you make a note of seriel/IMEI numbers?0 -
i will ask them to return it, although they could just break it.
Didnt make a note of IMEI..0 -
For the screen to be cracked I would expect that there has been some sort of visible trauma to the phones carton and the UPS packaging. Perhaps ask them to send the whole lot back?0

i agree with that.
for screens to crack there would need to be very heavy damage to the phone unless its a thin slider0 -
its a Samsung D900. Ill ask them to send the packaging back too. but i guess theres not much else i can do0

You could have fallen victim to a common scam.
Someone purchases your phone, then they claim it's been damaged in transit. They send the damaged phone back and you refund their money. You claim from the courier (if you insured it).
In fact it's not actually your phone you got back but a damaged one they already had. They keep your working phone and you have no way of knowing that they've made the swap.
The thing to do is to take photographs of the serial and IMEI numbers of the phone so you can prove it's been swapped. I had this happen to me last year and spotted the swap.0 -
Tell them to send the item back so you can confirm that the numbers match those on the phone you sent. See if you can call their bluff, if they're genuine you'll soon find out.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

The phone has now been returned, with a cracked screen. The phone still turns on though.
The thing is, im CERTAIN the phone was fine when i sent it. The phone would not have been damaged like this in transit (the returned packaging was fine, also UPS do not deliver an item if it gets damaged) I am therefore led to believe he has unpacked the phone, slid it open and in trying to take the back off, has pressed too hard and damaged the screen. So now i have a broken phone and an ebuyer asking for his £50 back.
Do I
a) Stand my ground and state i had a phone delivered with an intact screen. what could the consequences be? (bad feedback, can he claim the money back through Paypal)
b)Give up now, return his £50 (do i have to refund his postage too?) and think, !!!!!! i just lost £50 to a fat fisted clumsy kid.
He has just sent me a message through eBay with the following
u must of had ur duff phone back by now can u refund my money and my postage
Feedback on similar experiences would be appreciated. I'm quite proud of my 77 100% positive feedback, and don't really want it ruined.

Have you noticed that he is selling a Samsung phone - not the same model as your one but look at the item description;
"the phone is 1 week old is like new no marks or scratches going back 2 my d900i cant get the hang of it silver in colou on any network 5 megapixel"
Now i'm no Miss Marple but could he have bought your phone, knowing his D900 had a smashed screen, only to con you into thinking its your phone with fault??
