Exactly. If it doesn't get removed, then everyone else can follow suit. If there's any doubt it pays to test it. The worst situation is where there isn't a level playing field.

There are others who comment on here who have the same sig (I copied and pasted from them), so not just me

Well then we will let the moderators decide won!!!8217;t we.

However, haven!!!8217;t posted a link, plus there is no personal financial gain as I!!!8217;ve used all my paid referrals ;)

You are trying to split hairs.

How is there no financial gain? The recommend a friend scheme pays out to the referrer and the person who is referred. They offer this for up to five successful referrals per tax year. Strangely, five referrals is the number you advertise in your post.

If your contention is that you have already benefitted from 5 referrals this tax year (pretty successful given that it is only 45 days old) then anyone who took you up on your offer would not receive £100, as you claim they will, because you have used up all of your referrals for this tax year. I think that you have made this up to try and justify yourself.

I'm sure you are not alone. But I know there are lots of people who don't do it because they believe they can't do it.

TBH I didn't even notice your sig until you pointed it out.

Don’t worry about it, not a criticism but I have way more important things to do then report people for their sig. but each to their own :p

Just to correct that - in that situation, the person being referred would still receive it as per the terms - not that I disagree with your conclusion though.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I hadn't realised that, and always thought it a little unfair on the person switching if they'd been sold a pup by the referrer.

Of course, in this situation, how can a member of this board prove to MSE that they won't benefit financially from offering referrals?

Given the timescale, TSB were not wrong to pay the direct debit.

No other bank would give you such a warning.

The text message service is an added extra and not something on which you should be relying.

I'm afraid that you only have yourself to blame.

Point 1) Please provide me a link that states direct debits should be cancelled giving notice?

From the link below, download the Personal Banking Terms and Conditions:

    https://www.tsb.co.uk/current-accounts/classic-account/

    Page 18:
Direct Debit • You can cancel, but you must tell us by the end
of the working day before the day when the
payment is due to be made. If you do this,
we can stop any further Direct Debits being
    taken from your account.

    Thanks for that, appreciate it.

I still say they could have told me (even just a pop up screen) that the direct debit will be taken if it was due the next day.

Based on that link I agree that I should have given more notice, but I think we all know I knew that anyway.
