I've decided to make a list of goals rather than New Years Resolutions that will get broken by the end of the first week. So here goes....
1. Lose weight - I need a stone to disappear and want I make a good start on this in January
2. Get back into the habit of running again - I feel so much better when I do and the winter nights should not be an excuse
3. Drink less - there really is no need for a glass of wine after work
4. Go back to being a total vegetarian - I've eaten chicken once or twice a week but am happier when veggie. Once the fridge is cleared of the few bits left that's it.
5. Investigate a new kitchen using the PPI refund
6. Get the downstairs loo properly fixed - it's usable but not totally right
7. Economise for January and pay off £400 from the credit card
8. Buy a new night cream and use it!
9. Read books - have fallen out of the habit because I think I'm too busy - that's an excuse and I have lots of new books that are unopened
10. Use up things that are in the house - food, toiletries, household stuff - before buying new.0 -
Glad you had a lovely time.
Night cream - I've tried loads and it really is worth doing a bit of research, I'm actually using Olay 3 point regenerist at the moment and I like it quite well. I did use Clarins in the past but it got so expensive that I just couldn't justify it any longer, and I rather like Nip&Fab too. OH bought me the Super Retinol stuff from Beauty Pie for Christmas - SIL is a beauty therapist and swears by it - so I'm going to try that when this runs out.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Thanks Joey - I'll have a browse next time I'm in Boots.
Popped to Next to exchange the unwanted top and managed to get a pair of jeans, a top for work and a stripey casual top in the sale and a strapless bra for the princely sum of £1
Will wear them all so much better than having a top languishing in the back of the wardrobe. The jeans were only £8 and so if I slim out of them (wishful thinking but got to be positive) it's not the end of the world.
Going to see OH this evening - not sure which house yet - so will have a nice quiet evening together hopefully.0 -
beauty pie is online - a subscription thingy - OH used SIL's account but I'd actually signed up on Black Friday to buy make up for presents for the ladies in our family. The reaction to the make-up has all been exceptionally favourable.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

I actually can't remember the last thing I bought in Next - it's not me at all. However, someone got me a £50 Next gift card for Christmas so I'm going to have to face it sooner or later. If I wasn't a dumpling size it would be easier for sure... :rotfl:
Pleased that you're enjoying a bit of relaxation and resting for yourself.
And as for night cream, I actually use Avon's night cream and quite like it. Although I have heard more than one kid at school talking about Beauty Pie...
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Thanks Cat and Joey - I'd never heard of Beauty Pie - I'm clearly not down with the kids these days
Cat - Next do have a good range of boots and shoes so perhaps your voucher could be used on this instead of clothes you're not keen on?
Had a quiet evening with OH, for the first time in what feels like ages I didn't have any alcohol at all and didn't overeat. It's not much but it's a start......
I wore my nice new cashmere wrap thing and a soft grey Bardot neck sweater with faded jeans and new boots and I must have looked nice as even OH commented on it.
We watched the first couple of episodes of the series You on Netflix - it's really quite good. Definitely worth carrying on with.
He has a new washing machine being delivered this morning so I got up fairly early to bring the dog home out of the way.
No big plans for today - going to do a run after a dog walk but other than that nothing urgent to do. I do need to get a photograph printed out to put in a lovely silver frame that OH bought me for my birthday so will investigate that and I need to set up the Amazon Echo thingy for the bedroom. I might also fix a wonky drawer in the bedroom if I feel the urge - just a niggly job that's needed doing for ages.
Right, better get changed and get the dog out.......0 -
Dog walked and a 5km run done. Felt much easier today - found a good pace and just kept going. Further and faster than yesterday so making progress again
. Think I just needed to get back into the swing of it and stop the boozing!
Glad I've done it now and that's 300 cals burnt off
Going to watch last night's Corrie to recover and then have a nice soak in the bath with one of my new books that I started yesterday. Then maybe a potter around getting a few little jobs done. Feeling much more positive today .....0 -
Photographs ordered through Image Express - the price seemed reasonable and it was free delivery so that's one job out of the way.
Also submitted meter readings to get an accurate bill - it's jumped up since the summer but I suppose that's to be expected and hopefully it will even out through the year.
Have also set up the Amazon Echo in the bedroom and had a sort out of the new clothes and bits and pieces. I've had some lovely presents for my birthday and Christmas - I've been very lucky.
I bit the bullet and weighed to set a starting point for the diet and it wasn't as bad as I'd thought - I need to lose exactly a stone to be happy. I've put on 4 lbs since the end of November - I suppose it could be worse given the last month and lack of exercise but I'm not happy and it has to change.
Two runs is a good start but I need to keep it going - the leftovers in the fridge are almost gone now but there's loads of sweets and chocolates left over. I might put some of them aside and take them to work in the new year to stop me scoffing the lot.
I intend to eat and drink reasonably between now and new year and then crack on with a proper diet. In the mean time, it's damage limitation with extra exercise.0 -
Should you decide to try beauty pie there is a free month code knocking around which is funnily enough FIRSTMONTHFREE and although there is a 3 month minimum subscription there is a £5/month subscription so you'd only be down for £10 plus the cost of whatever you buy.
SIL reckons there cost comparison are legitimate but they're way more than I would pay for a lot of things ie. £40 for foundation, but the member's prices are similar to what I'd pay for some items and the make up palettes I bought all the teen/young 20s ladies were amazing value and they all think they're incredible.

Thanks Joey - I'll definitely have a look.
Spent the late afternoon and evening at OHs just chilling out. Slept badly though because he did and kept waking me up but, never mind, not much to do today.
Have taken the dog to his favourite park for an hour in the drizzle but he enjoyed it. Popped to the local shop on the way home and got some reduced sausages for him for a treat - they're in the oven now and he's sitting staring at it
Have tidied the kitchen, cleared out any leftovers that are looking a bit sorry for themselves from the fridge and sorted the bins and recycling and am toying with taking the Xmas decorations down - it would be nice to have a Christmas free house again......
OH has booked us a surprise meal at the lovely local Greek restaurant for New Year's Eve. Not like him at all so a nice gesture
We've decided to go for dinner and then come home to see the new year in - I'm not a fan of mass celebrations so it's a good compromise.
He also wants to go away for a night or two this week and has delegated the task of finding somewhere to go and has said he'll pay. I'll look into it later today. Don't know what's come over him!
Going to potter around and sort one or two household jobs and generally have a quiet morning - really tired today so no running but will go again tomorrow.0
