The house is now de-Christmased
and it's all back in the attic. It feels like a bit of a relief.
If we go away during the week the last thing I'd want is to come home to it all so I'm happy it's done. It looks very clean and tidy again now......
I'm not a Christmas fan so I feel quite glad that's it's over and we can start the new year.
My family are back with me next weekend before they go on holiday and so the house is sorted, their bedding and towels have been washed and replaced and so all I'll need to do is whip the Hoover and a duster around before they arrive.
I have a week off and want to make the most of it so am thinking about things that need doing before I go back to work ...... I feel a list coming on.....;)0 -
To do list.....
1. Pick up dry cleaning
2. Small grocery shop at the end of the week
3. Arrange vet appointment for booster jabs
4. Go to the cinema with free tickets
5. Finish reading new book
6. Rejoin slimming world
7. Get toilet properly fixed
8. Fix the wonky drawer
9. Take a bag of things to the charity shop
10. Write next week's lessons
11. Go to kitchen showrooms to get some ideas
12. Run x3
13. Go for a nice long walk somewhere
14. Get eyebrows sorted
15. Buy night cream and vitamins0 -
Good news..... We've booked two nights away on the Gower in a lovely boutique hotel, going on Wednesday and coming home on Friday.
We have to drive past my mum's house so will be dropping off the dog for a mini break of his own.
The plan is to do at least one big walk on the coastal path regardless of the weather, the rest of the time will be mooching about together, country pubs and generally having a rest.
Have spent the afternoon pottering about, watching a few episodes of Designated Survivor and then a good walk with the dog for some fresh air.
No plans for this evening - just going to watch a bit of telly, maybe read a bit of my book and plan out tomorrow and Tuesday to get plenty of things done before we go away.0 -

Had a busy morning so far - been to the park with the dog, popped to Go Outdoors for a pair of cheap walking trousers and a fleece (£20 all in), Aldi for milk, bread and meat for the dog to take to my mums and vitamins (£17), the cashpoint for some money for tonight and the coming week and the dry cleaners to pick stuff up.
Planning to go for a run in a minute, OH is playing golf and so I have some time to think about what I need to take away with me this week and get things ready. Feeling quite rested today after a better nights sleep and no booze yesterday - hopefully that will translate into an ok run.
Still trying to use things up - a shampoo and conditioner and a deodorant finished off yesterday and running down the fridge which is looking quite bare now apart from a ton of cheese and things for the dog.
We're out for dinner this evening and then away from Weds to Fri so I'm making do with what's here until the weekend. I'm now back to being a total vegetarian again and cutting down on boozing so hopefully that will help me to lose a bit of weight along with the running.
Really looking forward to the mini break and walking - the weather looks fairly good, dry and cold, so we should be able to get a good bit of fresh air and exercise. I'm sure there will be visits to pubs and food but I'll try not to go berserk and at least break even on calories burned and consumedFingers crossed !
Right, enough procrastination - time for a run .......0 -
A walk on the coastal path sounds wonderful. Sea air is always good!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Thanks Honeysuckle - I am really looking forward to it now. I think we'll end up doing at least one 8-10 mile walk. Going to look for some routes this afternoon.
Just back from a 5km run - same route as last time and one full minute faster. Happy with that considering the new reset on the running button
Not as good as I used to be but getting there slowly. 300 cals disposed of too
For anyone thinking about exercising in the new year I really would recommend the free Couch to 5k programme - it's how I got started in the first place and really is quite achievable.
Will try to go again tomorrow as long as I'm not too groggy after tonight.
Can't decide about rejoining slimming world or whether to count calories on MyFitnessPal - I'm leaning towards MFP as its more convenient and I can't always commit to SW meetings with work .....and it's free.
I think typing that has actually made my mind up for me0 -
Going out for a meal in an hour or so and just wanted to wish everyone a Happy, Healthy and Properous New Year!
Thank you all for your support xx0 -

Good morning and happy new year!
We had a lovely evening - went for dinner and came home about 10.30 then watched Graham Norton and Madness on the telly with a couple of bottles of wine. A late night (about 2am) but OH actually enjoyed himself - he's not a new year fan and neither am I but we had a good evening together. Got a bit carried away and ended up booking tickets to go to see Madness in May but looking forward to it and it's in Uttoxeter at the race course so it will be a little weekend away for us.
Got up around 9.30 and walked the dog and then decided in my infinite wisdom to go for a run - was surprisingly ok, considering the late night, copious amounts of wine and that I'd done one yesterday too. 5km run and 300 cals got rid of.
Feeling quite proud of myself ......
I have to pop out to drop off some theatre tickets at a colleague's house that we won't be able to use as we're away - Shame for them to go to waste and she'll be able to take her son (it's Wicked).
Other than that, I'm going to give the house a quick whizz round with the Hoover and a duster so it's clean and tidy when we get back on Friday (visitors on Saturday), pack ready for the trip and then spend late afternoon and some of the evening at OHs. Won't stay over though as its an early start tomorrow.
Need to juggle a bit of money around the accounts to cover the trip too.
The new healthy me officially starts today too - no boozing today and eating sensibly. Running is a good start but I have to tackle food now too. I'll try to be fairly controlled when away and get straight back on the wagon when we're home, but rather than delaying starting I'm going to have a good day today, it's all about damage limitation!
Right, better get those tickets dropped off - will be a 40 min round trip ........0
