Thanks folks for your replies. I would move to 3, whose mobile phone service has been fine for me in the last 3 or 4 years, if the discount was 50%, but the 25% discount means my current supplier is cheaper.

    Hi All,

I have had nothing but problems with 3 mobile broadband recently, it started in September when my broadband mobile modem broke, so I had 3 collect it to be repaired, they subsequently managed to misplace my modem in transit back to me, and sent me someones grubby dirty mobile phone, after weeks of trying to resolve this issue, eventually tracked it down to a store in Lichfield, so managed to get it back. The repaired modem worked for a couple of weeks before braking again in december. Sent off for repair again, modem replaced still does not connect to internet, phone again, modem collected again, replaced again, same problem, collected again and replaced same problem. Now more recently, sent a new sim card, just tried it still not working.

Customer service at 3 rubbish, I have now not been able to use mobile broadband for 4 whole months, in my opinion, 3 are in breach of contract, as they have not supplied me with a broadband service, I have also tried the modems with 2 other laptops I have and get the same problem. Anybody got any suggestions as to what my next steps should be, as they are still charging me for a service I cannot use.

Also fed up with phoning customer service and constantly incurring phone charges in doing so ( I only have mobile broadband with them , thank god!), and the fact they do not have uk call centres.

I have similar prob, cant get through 2 customer services via email and refuse 2 pay the phone charges. I have had the dongle for about 5mths, it works on and off, but I have to remove it and replace it when it goes wrong, and when I switch my laptop on. Nightmare!! I went into 3 and they said they would take it for repair if it didnt work in their laptop but I cannot lose my (lack of) internet connection for 3 days. Not helpful to you, I know, but it's nice that someone else feels my pain lol xx

p.s ..... i also believe that we should be able to cancel our contracts. I brought this matter up with 3 in an email and recieved a 'if you want to cancel your contract, you will have 2 pay in pounds of flesh' msg, I for one cannot afford to willingly cancel! I need that flesh thanx!

Just seen they are offering 15Gb on 24 month contract for £14.68 and Quidco offer £47.50 cashback for existing customers but when I put in my mobile number and account number to get 25% off taking it to £11.01 it doesn't show the discount. Can anyone help please as this seems a cracking deal! Thanks

Three are currently offering a broadband dongle for £19.95.

1 What is the service like as cheap doesn't always mean its any good.
2 What type of speeds can one expect?

If not Three then which is the best mobile broadband?

    Thanks in anticipation.

3 was the first company to start using a 3G network - so they have a good headstart on the competition.

They also share networks with T-mobile. T-mobile has often been mentioned as offering the fastest 'actual' speeds, people actually getting 4.5Mbps.

3 lists their max speed as 3.6Mbps on their site.

Obviously this is going to vary depending on your signal strength and if there is any contention from other users.

3 offer some very good deals, you can usually get the dongle for free with a pay monthly deal. They've just halved the price of their 15GB deal to just £15 (http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/broadband-guide/news/3-cuts-mobile-broadband-prices-in-half.html) although, the BIG downside is the 24 month contract which is pretty major.

Do you know anyone with a 3 mobile you could check the 3G signal with?

3 do offer a 14 day moneyback guarantee - so you could always test their service where you are and then just cancel and return the USB modem if you don't like it.

Otherwise, T-mobile is thought to be pretty good for mobile broadband.
