Not sure the 25% offer is valid on pay as you go Mobile broadband starter packs. Correct me if im wrong.
Doesn't seem to be, no.25% Mobile Broadband - Terms & Conditions
Offer available direct from 3 only until 28th February 2009 on a new Mobile Broadband Lite, 5GB or 15GB price plan when either: (1) an existing customer on a Pay Monthly phone or mobile broadband price plan later subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband plan; or (2) when a new approved customer subscribes to a new Pay Monthly price plan and a new Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time; (3) when a new approved customer subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband price plan and subscribes to a second Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time; or (4) when an existing Pay Monthly customer upgrades to a new Pay Monthly price plan and subscribes to a new Mobile Broadband price plan at the same time. The new/second Mobile Broadband price plan must have a minimum term of 18 months. Customers will lose their continuing eligibility for the half price mobile broadband plan if they terminate their existing plan prior to the end of their Mobile Broadband minimum term agreement. In other words the two plans have to run concurrently. Offer must be mentioned at the time of order as it cannot be applied later and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. 25% discount will be forfeited if either contract is in arrears or disconnects from the 3 network (for whatever reason). Terms apply. See instore or three.co.uk0 -

I remain confused about the "what happens if you go over your limit on PAYG?" question.
Some say you have to pay an exorbitant rate, others (including counter staff) say that it just stops working until you buy a top up.
It's true that the web site says :
What happens if I go over my data allowance, am I charged?
If you go over your allowance, you can still access the internet at broadband speeds, however you will be charged 10p per megabyte of data used.
... but could it be the case that this is only meant to apply to the monthly payment plan and they've messed up the links on their website (the FAQ page is identical whether you get to it via the PAYG page or the Monthly Plan page). Do yo really have to get a login to their little My3 portal if you are a smelly PAYG customer?
If you don't have a contract (they advertise PAYG as "without Contracts"), on what basis do thay make these inflated, restropective charges?
Any how would they collect it off you anyway? Do you leave them a deposit?
I can't find any PAYG terms on their website and the "buy now" page (where they might reside) is down.
Does anyone have an authoratative position on this ?(for 3 and/or other providers).
much obliged0 -
If you're worried about the going-over usage charges, it's worth bearing in mind that the t-mobile option will not charge extra -there is a 3GB fair usage cap on their web'n'walk plus tariff, if you go over this they write to let you know, and if you go over again I think they may ask you to join a higher tariff for a period - but they will not suddenly whack you with a big charge.
There is £73 cashback through quidco.com available from t-mobile directly, and £5 off for the first 3 months making total cost equivalent to £11.73 per month for the 3GB service from t-mobile.
If you're prepared to attempt to claim cashback (see other posts in the mobile forum for warnings on this) then mobiles.co.uk on quidco offer £40 cashback and 11 months rental reclaimable through cashback on a £15/month 24 month contract - making the cost £6.46/month if you successfully claim all the cashback. If the claiming cashback route isn't for you, they offer a £60 instant cashback option, which in addition to quido means £10.84 per month with you receiving £100 cashback in total within the first couple of months.0 -
I got 3 Mobile Broadband for £7.50 a month if you took out a 6 month contract at £22.00 a month..... it's nightmare, i am buying out of the contract in 2 weeks.
3 Mobile broadband is terrible it's so slow i travel a bit Manchester -> London, Leeds, Edinburgh and anywhere i try to use it it's slower than dial-up. I usually end up connecting through my N95 8GB / O2 and get faster speeds.
IMHO get a cheap ADSL Provider and a wifi router (usually free) it will be a LOT faster and more reliable than 3's offering.
P.S. 3's Customer service is criminal too, calling me up at 9pm on a Sunday!!!! I WENT APE!:mad:0 -
TBH from the replies here and elsewhere I was thinking of the Vodaphone version, it seems better coverage. Thanks for all your replies, very helpful!0

Can someone who has taken a mobile broadband contract recently with 3 Mobile as an existing customer please confirm what discount they received.
The MSE page on Cheapest 3G Mobile Internet states that 3 gives a 50% discount to existing customers, charging £7.50 for 5 GB monthly allowance instead of £15, but 3 told me today the discount is 25%, so the 5 GB allowance costs £11.25.
Thanks.0 -
I got 50% discount but that was 12 months ago, for a 24 month contract. I have since cancelled my mobile phone contract (Last September) and I am still getting charged half price on the broadband.0

Its 3, heed everyones warnings....0

Existing customers ~12 months ago got 50% off for the life of their (twin) contracts. Was too good to pass up at that price. I believe now it's just 25% for new subscribers.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0
