Our dairy farm is about half a mile away so we don't get many smells or noises, thank goodness 🙄
About to go into meeting to ask boss about 4 days a week... wish me luck!7 -

I hope all goes well Cheery 🤞
For a while we used to live near a pig farm most of the time it was fine but if the wind was from that direction, it definitely smelt ruralFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

oh so sorry to hear about your lost hen. I decided not to replace ours when the fox took them all, but I do miss them.
Giving the eggs away is always funny, I almost got to the stage of apologising when we had 8 hens and it was the summer. No, post lady please take some eggs. Take some for the next house too... I miss the custard/ice cream/omelettes etc too. I do not miss cleaning out the night pen though. When we move we will have hens, and pigs, and maybe a goat. I like reading smallholding magazines on the library free reading App and feeling like one day we will get there.
I hope your 4 day request went well, the thing to remember on the applications is that it is not all about how it will work for you, its also about how it can fit round supporting the students/institute. 'Statistically the contact from students on a Friday is only 8% of the weeks total contacts', etc. Apologies if I am telling you something you know but the flex working requests in my uni HR days were generally about how they could get more research done without the Friday commute (secondary purpose/desirable part of role), and not enough about impact on student support (core/essential funding part of role). The ones who went on about what it would save them on childcare were understandable but irritating. And as for those who did 'treating us like a business' when there isn't an unlimited pot of magic funding, well I remember why I took VR at this point!

Cheery_Daff said:Ooh, I'll definitely be having whole Fridays off if I can! With an afternoon I'd be too tempted to carry on til 1, or 2, or 3... I'd rather just let everyone fend for themselves for the entire weekend 😂
My mum works full time over 4 days, and always has Wednesday off, figuring she then has to never work more than 2 days in a row 😂😂 I much prefer a longer weekend myself! Also meant I had pretty much all Bhols added to my holiday hours

Thanks all 😊 Well, the meeting was cheerful - slightly interrupted by boss's supermarket delivery arriving early 😂😂
Boss had some news of her own to share, and we had a nice chat. Basically if I want to drop to four days she doesn't think there's any obstacle and will fully support me if anyone else objects. She did suggest thinking about 5 days over 4, but quite frankly I probably do 6 over 5 during term time and just don't have the capacity to fit that work into four days (and most of it can't be spaced out to the rest of the year).
Thanks for the tips Redo. Seems I need to ask head of dept, then just inform HR, so hopefully that won't be an issue.9 -
Ooh, a brief flurry of excitement on the Happy Wheel this evening (my generic term for MB 😂😂 ) - won £56 in one go and am now up to £195 for the month. Aiming to get (and stay!!) over £200 for March which will add nicely to the kitchen fund.
Did a couple of you gov surveys this evening - one extremely dull about financial products, and the other which asked whether I'd used online slot machines in the last year, and when I said yes, asked me many questions about whether my gambling had ever caused any harm to my family 😮
Last day at work tomorrow. Still lots to do, but I can see the end (well, the end before Easter anyway!)10 -
Morning MSE chums.
Well, here I am, spinning the Happy Wheel and trying to get a recalcitrant chicken to take her medicine... Which she is currently not doing. Yawn.
Multi tasking though - did a Prolific survey (which was actually rather bad, and had there been space for feedback I would have given it!) and my balance has now reached £11.30 so I've cashed out - will add that to the kitchen fund when it arrives.
Other than that, last day at work, lots to do - although I'm not currently doing it because I'm chicken-sitting...7 -
Ok, £42 on the Happy Wheel, bringing me to £236 in total for March, which is great, and my Prolific money is now in Paypal (although I can't redeem it to the bank as they have a new security feature so want to text me, but I left my phone in another room so I'll do that later).
Still not much success on the chicken front, but I'm seeing a student in five minutes so Mr Cheery is going to have to take over now...8
