Sunshine has been lovely!
Poor old Chippy is quite poorly 🙄 Hoping we've caught it in time. Vexingly she's got the same as the others, and now has to have an implant to stop her laying 🙄 So that'll be three implanted chickens not laying, plus another not laying cos she's old. We're down to tw eggs a day - will have to stop giving them away!
Poor old chippy. We'll have to give her antibiotics and anti inflammatories and hope between all that we can nurse her back to health. Vet said it doesn't seem to be tumor or heart disease, just on the way to egg peritonitis, which is common in ex battery hens, and relatively common in good layers. Fingers crossed...7 -

Indeed. Who knew hormonal implants for chickens were a thing?! We've spent about £800 on them in the last year
Anyway. We are home, and after a bit of a snack, Chippy is now in the hen house with the others. I'll bring her back in our house first thing in the morning to keep an eye on her, keep her warm, try to encourage her to eat etc, but overnight she's probably better off all cosy with her chicken pals than bewildered in here on her own.
So. It's been a long and tedious day (the drive would have been more interesting had we not done it just three days ago...).
Got all excited when I remembered the regular saver has ended, so I can do transfers etc tonight - except I can't, because the building society website is done.
My new phone has arrived though - trying to figure out how to use the damn thing. Seems I can automatically transfer everything from my old phone, and I thought I'd done it, but surprise! None of it is there. Not in the mood for technical shenanigans tonight. Need to eat something other than toast and then see if the world seems more reasonable...7 -
Ok, I've eaten now, and feeling slightly more reasonable.
Managed to log in and close the regular saver, so that's £6000 winging its way to the main current account. I'll keep some aside for the windows, and then the rest can go into premium bonds
They'd already paid the interest (£59.91) into the main current account, so I've transferred that into the kitchen fund, which now stands at £199.37

Good for you keeping going on the financial admin. And poor Chippy, I hope she's perked up today.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Sadly quite the opposite KC, we lost her an hour ago 😢😢😢
She's been looking very rough, but we'd managed to get medicine into her, and some water, and grapes, and were hoping she's pull round enough to get a bit of her appetite back, but no, she just drifted off 😢😢😢
It all happened so fast. She seemed a teensy bit slower than usual on Friday, when we took Bessie to the vets. Monday morning she was still walking round a bit and eating relatively normally, last night she ate and slept with the others, but she's just gone downhill so fast today. Too sad 😢😢😢 I really thought we'd lose the older ones first and the young ones would last a good few years, but you just never know.
Going to ring vets back about Bessie, who is still huffing and puffing a bit - wondering if it might be worth giving her some of the anti inflammatories we had for Chippy 🙄7 -
So sorry to hear about Chippy. It is so upsetting hope Bessie improves xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
