Cheery's country living adventure

I was wondering whether raking would work better than scything at this point actually, given the gross is mostly dead and lying down. Might give that a go. I suppose it depends on the strength of the rake!5

Oh Cheery, I feel for you. We are having our kitchen tarted up and the house has been pure chaos with things everywhere for the last 2 weeks. Its having a massive impact on my mental health and I've been so fed up. Can you make a couple of rooms clutter free and a bit of a sanctuary where you can escape the chaos? Cheery, so sorry to hear that the weekend has been that bad. I absolutely recognise overwhelm with all the things that need doing, and how being cold (stone step) and in pain (dentistry) can make you feel terrible all on their own
But the DIY mess is its own special hell, it really is
One room clear sounds good - obviously, it can't be the kitchen, but somewhere? When I moved in here, someone suggested it, and it was impossible because this was such a downsize, but I got a corner of my bedroom really comfortable, and it was a godsend.
Hope you can at least get some good sleep tonight.2023: the year I get to buy a car7 -
I’m just using a metal spring-tine rake for mine. It gets the moss out too as a bonus! I need to pick up a hay rake from my mum at some point.
Another vote for making one room a haven from clutter and chaos!8 -
Will experiment with the hay rake!
You're all right about the room of course. The study is pretty clear- only room we've decorated and the bit you can see in my zoom background is fine! 😂
I did do a bit of clearing in there this evening, got rid of 12 books and a giant pile of paper, hoovered, and cleared and dusted the desk. Already feels better although more to do.
The living room isn't bad, but I'll make an effort to clear round my chair which has started attracting *stuff* that's being cleared from other places...8 -
I hope today is much better for you Cheery. But do get to the dentist asap- Greenbee and Karma are right.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I will, but we've got another poorly chicken to deal with first - Chippy this time, one of the new ones
Not sure what's wrong, she's just standing on her own looking all sad. Comb isn't right, but I can't feel anything wrong with her in the normal places. Going to set up a little chicken rehab station in the living room in a minute and bring her in for a warm bath, see if that helps (surprisingly, it sometimes does!) And if not, then back to the vets. Yawn. (No, I don't think it's anything contagious - Bessie's ailments were definitely a result of her hormonal implant wearing off, and that's not something you catch!)
Anyway, one more week at work before a much needed fortnight off. Although between vets and dentists there might not be much of it spent actually working!
£19 on MB this morning, £135 total now. Need to log in and check the LPG people have the same meter reading as me - we're down to 20% now and hitting 25% usually triggers a delivery, so need to check what their record says... Don't want to run out of central heating!

Ok, LPG checked - they've got us down as being at 13% (I'm not going to change it, it's a dial that I have to stand on tip toes to read so it's never entirely accurate), and delivery was ordered (by them) on 8th March. They say 10-15 working days, so it should be here this week, which is fine.
Doing lots of counting down at the minute.
5 days left at work before holidays
7 days til we can meet other people in gardens (all being well)
10 days til the chickens can come out
21 days til the cafe re-opens (again, all being well)
