Cheery's country living adventure

Thank you all xxx Coping surprisingly well, although I do feel faintly sick and just tested my blood pressure again out of interest and it was even higher than yesterday's parcel fiasco 😮
It's funny, I obviously know stress has a physical effect, but I've never seen it written down in numbers like that before....
Right, got about 20 mins left for some lunch...7 -
Well, I survived, although by the end of the day my blood pressure did reach rather epic (for me) proportions 😮
It was just starting to lower again, when a blithering tooth fell out!! For goodness sake. It's at the side too, so you can see when I open my mouth, although it's not as noticeable as I first feared and I don't think you'll be able to see it on video chat. Fortunately it doesn't hurt at the minute... but it's quite an exposed gap, and I can't eat on the other side as a couple of those teeth are already precarious... so it looks like I'll be ringing the dentist in the morning... 🙄6 -
Blimey Cheery, that's quite a day 😮! You'd better keep the big-girl pants firmly on!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

They're generally pretty good with emergencies. However we never got round to switching dentists, so they're over near work, which is usually quite convenient, but obviously not at the minute!
Anyway, in better news, the builder emailed with pictures of the kitchen he's taking out if someone else's house in a few weeks. It looks perfect for us 😍 We'll have to pay something of course, but nothing like the new price (and there's no way we'd have gone for solid oak if we were paying new). He's going check measurements and costs on Friday but hopefully we can make it all work - and of course now the garage is almost empty after all our tip trips, we've got room to store it. Hooray!9 -

Eek to the tooth Cheery, but good news about the kitchen!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Gosh, it is SO warm and sunny out there! Just been sitting on a mat on the floor of the chicken run, with all the older ladies lined up along my legs preening themselves 😍 Poor old Bessie is looking a little rough, I'll ring the vets in the morning, suspect she may just need her hormonal implant replacing 🙄
Finally had the second kitchen quote. Not impressed it's taken so long, and also not impressed they addressed it to Mr and Mrs Cheery... They've not even met Mr Cheery, ALL communication has been through me, I barely mentioned him in passing.
Anyway, it was £9k for the kitchen and installation, NOT including plastering, electrics etc, and certainly not including any of the work on the bedroom. So I'm glad we didn't wait for them.
They did send a rather nice scale drawing of the kitchen though which will come in handy when planning other things 😁
Other financial news... I've had a refund of the customs charge from when I bought a lamp before Christmas - their website said there would be no charge, but then I was charged £20.10. They've said they would only give me a 'partial refund' but have actually given me £19.38, so I won't quibble about the extra 73p 😂
As soon as that hits the bank I'll put it in the kitchen fund 😁
Did a £2.50 Prolific survey earlier - up to almost £5 in there again now when everything's cleared, so as soon as I get to £10 I'll cash out and that can go in the kitchen fund too.
£13 on MB this morning, I think the total is £68 for the month now. Will transfer that to the kitchen fund too when we get to 31st March. That kitchen fund is growing nicely, although I do miss fiddling with the mortgage spreadsheet!! Will get back to it as soon as the kitchen is in and paid for.
Right, it's been lovely being out in the sunshine with the chickens, but I do need to get back to work for a bit!8 -
Right. Work done (well, stopped...), and I've made a quorn curry, and done a little bit more MB - made £29.50 in one go so I'm stopping for the evening before it starts disappearing! Up to £105 for the month now.7

Some good developments there, especially the kitchen, and I love the image of the older ladies lined up for you
But my goodness, your tooth! I really hope they see you, very soon.
