Cheery's country living adventure

Hmm - I've just seen an email from the electricity company saying our bill is going up by 30p a day from mid April 😮 That's £9 a month! We already pay £42 so that's getting a bit ridiculous, might investigate (if I can muster the energy..)
Having said that, I do think we're in credit, possibly by quite a bit... will check tomorrow...4 -
Oh, ok - we're £23 in credit 😂😂 That's not much use!
Still, I'll have a quick check if we xn get substantially cheaper elsewhere, and have a think about what we can do to cut back on use.
Not right now though!

Morning chums 😊
It's a weekend of sitting outside medical appointments for other people/animals - today I am sat outside an inauspicious church on the outskirts of Stoke waiting for Mr Cheery to have his first vaccine dose 😊
Had a rough morning though 🙄 Woke at 6am with period pain, took painkillers, got in the bath, then ended up being sick 😕 Seems my stomach was objecting slightly to taking 2 ibuprofen and 2 co-codamol at the same time on an empty stomach, and then jumping straight in a hot bath 🙄
Still, all fine now (if a little delicate) - although as soon as we get home I might be working a little nap into my afternoon plans... 🙄7 -

Very glad to hear that Mr Cheery's had his first vaccine, but yes, a *big* nap is what's needed today. Take care of you!2023: the year I get to buy a car5

Morning MSE chums
Well, yesterday was rather a write offStill, Mr Cheery had his vaccine, which is the important thing, and I had TWO baths, and we had a nice chat with a couple of pals in the evening, so it wasn't all bad
Today I feel rather more human againI've fitted my new scythe blade! Most exciting - it's GREAT for doing the lawn as it's so long, and does a bigger area in one sweep. Not much better in the field currently though - the problem out there is that I didn't finish it at the end of last year, so the old, dead grass is now lying down, flattened by the wind, and in reality I probably should have let the cows in at the end of the summer to eat off what I hadn't managed to clear - lesson learned.
Today Mr Cheery's off for a walk later with a friend who recently lost her husband (his friend), and I'll go with him in the car. I was thinking of arranging to meet a friend myself, but actually I think I need some time on my own, so I might take a book, and a notebook, and find a bench somewhere. We even had a glimmer of sunshine this morning, so maybe I'll even get some more!
I've ordered a new phone, which should be here tomorrow. I was limping along with mine, but now the screen keeps falling off AND the main camera has broken, it's just TOO annoying I'm afraid. I've gone for a refurbished second hand one, and have ordered the relevant screen protectors and cases, and it should all be here tomorrow.
Before then, I need to find all the things that use Google Authenticator (mostly MB sites) and disable it - it's based on device, not account, so when I switch phones, it won't work any more. Much better to disable in advance!
Also need to make sure all my photos are off the phone before I swap, and save all my contacts to the sim.
Ooh, sun's out again - might go and do some more garden tidying. I started clearing some ivy from my little terrace area outside the front door and then got sidetracked, so I might finish that off, so I've got somewhere cheery to sit for an early morning cuppa7 -

Ah yes BB, I think I remember them switching over last time. Just need to make sure they're ALL saved in there...
I've sorted the photos though, and the authenticator thingy, so we're all set for tomorrow.
What a tumultuous weekend though! Unsurprisingly I've felt quite washed out today. I did manage to get a load of washing done and hung on the line this morning, and spent about 20 mins playing with my new scythe blade 😊 Also did a bit more tidying up of the ivy and the terrace.
Then we went on a little excursion for Mr Cheery to see his friend's wife 😕 I hadn't arranged to see anyone, and was in quite an odd mood, and felt I'd be better spending time alone. Except where to go? In hindsight, I should have stayed in the car... but I ended up tucking myself away on some stone steps for a couple of hours, and as a result being rather chilly for the rest of the day.
Quite grumpy this evening, and tears have been shed over trivial things. Made a stupid attempt to fix the freezer door (should have just bought a new damn freezer - tonight's fix was futile and I've ruined various things in the process).
Nearly went in the bath again, but didn't, and now I wish I had. Oh dear!
One of the new chickens is looking a little under the weather - is nothing ever simple?? I'm not sure when to fit a vet trip in this week, and obviously I still haven't been to the dentist (looks like that's going to get put off til my fortnight off now, sigh).
Gosh I am grumpity! Don't quite know how to snap myself out of it, so I'm just spending a bit of time trying to find a few things to throw away in the study... Might as well join in the decluttering mission - quite a bit of my general sense of overwhelm is the state of the house and getting rid of a few more things can only help...8 -
It's hard when the house is in chaos Cheery. But you really do need to get yourself to the dentist asap. Take it from someone who is spending a small fortune on dentistry at the moment...
I've been having a go at the grass I didn't get round scything last year. For the moment I'm just raking the dead grass out, then I'll probably trying going over it with the mower. I might scarify it if it looks like it still needs work, and then chuck more wildflower seeds into it.9
