Morning MSE chums - it's payday!
Been doing a bit of shuffling. I'd forgotten I'd transferred dosh out of the MB account to the current account to cover the too-enthusiastic-about-premium-bonds episode earlier in the month, so had a text about not having enough for a DDIt's only the back and forth DD to the TSB current account to meet the requirements of both accounts - I'd cancelled the one in the other direction, but not this direction - what a plonker!
Can't see any reason to keep the TSB one open any more - the regular saver has ended, and the only thing it does is transfer £1000 into the MB account each month, which I can just as easily do from the main current account. I think I'll do a quick check of that later tonight and close it.
£3.95 rewards in from the main bank account, so that's transferred to kitchen offset fund, which now stands at £120.08.
Last regular saver ends on Saturday, so I'll be able to close on Monday, top everything else back to where it should be, keep the money aside to pay for the windows at the end of the month, and put everything else into premium bonds
MB a bit rubbish this morning, March total now stands at £96.
Right, best get another cuppa and get on with some work! Have a good day folks

Evening chums 😊
Brain full of fog today, and phone playing up - entire screen just fell off earlier, exposing the electronics, and I've lost three posts since then when I've tried to press return and it's opened something else instead... so a new phone may be on the cards at some point... 🙄
Couple of small Prolific studies done today, and some more MB - up to about £140 now for March.
Nowt much else achieved. Getting the necessary done for work was such a struggle I couldn't face doing anything else. I did take the recycling out, had leftover curry for tea, and then a nice long hot bath with a book. Most jolly 😊
Working in the morning tomorrow, and then Bessie is going to the vets late afternoon - I think her hormonal implant is wearing off...6 -
Morning chums
More financial admin this morning!
Logged in to TSB to close my accounts - except there's no way to do it from within the accounts themselves. Utterly ridiculous. Had to go through a farcical 'online form' process, which involved taking photographs of both my driving licence and myself (!) several times until I did it 'right' (not helped by my phone camera having a small spec of something stuck in it, so occasionally blurring until I've banged it sufficiently on a hard surface). Still, once I was verified, it was easy to close all three accounts, so that's that done.
Then logged into Nationwide - transferred the remaining 9p out of my savings account and closed that - a mere click of a 'close account' button (although then I did have to use the pesky card reader, but I did have that to hand). So savings account is closed, and standing order set up to main current account.
Finally logged into main current account, and set up standing order to Nationwide.
So all sorted, and I now have no more accounts than I need, thank goodness. Bit pesky having to have the transfer in/out of Nationwide, but I set it up for the regular saver a couple of years ago, and it's one of those 'pay in £1000 a month or we'll charge you'. I'd cancel it, but it's the one I use for matched betting, and the prospect of having to change bank details with a million gambling sites fills me with dread, so I'll leave it as it is with the standing orders flopping back and forth each month.
Phew, need a lie down now!

Oh, and the £19.38 customs refund arrived, so that's gone into the kitchen fund, which now stands at £139.46.
MB a bit nondescript this morning, but monthly total standing at £133.
Right - work!9 -
It sounds like it felt quite bitty, but those bits **really** add up - look at where your kitchen fund is already! And your posts were kind of early in the day for that sort of accomplishment, good for you2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Thanks for the reminder about TSB Cheery - I logged on and played the online form game to close our accounts (and the 'our' means that it might not happen yet!). Agree that Nationwide's is so much easier. That said, I also closed an RBS account (opened for the bonus) yesterday and because I don't have another RBS account to transfer the balance (which is zero and will remain so) to, I've had to write a letter and put it in the post to close it - ridiculous! Bitty bits indeed, but it feels good to have got them done and I agree with Karma - impressive total so far.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

The kitchen fund is doing well.
Closing the accounts no longer in use will streamline your money management. If I did match betting I would want it to be linked to a separate account than my main bank account so I didn't accidentally mess things up.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Definitely a good idea to have a separate account for MB - on reflection I just wish I'd used one without conditions! But it's not an arduous condition really 😊
Glad you've managed to close your TSB account too Vix. What a nuisance having to put a form in the post! Fortunately all of the ones I closed were linked in some way to our main current account, so I just selected that for the final transfer (even though I'd already transferred everything out anyway).
And yep KC, it does indeed all add up! I'm up to about £9.80 on Prolific again too now so as soon as that's over £10 that can go in the kitchen too. Got annoyed this morning as there was a £7.50 survey on offer, but I just didn't have 45 mins to spare on it. Pah!
Exciting adventure this afternoon - we are at the vets again... Bessie this time. My prediction is that her hormonal implant is wearing off and needs replacing, which the vet did say would happen (it's been quite a few months since she had it done). Fingers crossed it's straightforward (although it certainly won't be a money-saving exercise - from memory it cost about £300 to have it done the first time! 😮 )
Still, the vets is quite far away (they're chicken specialists, unlike our local vets, who just give antibiotics and hope for the best), so it's been quite an adventure coming over here, and utterly lovely to see some different scenery! Mr Cheery has just gone to get treats (for us) from the local shop, and me and Bessie are waiting in the car park for the vet to appear. Fingers crossed...5 -
You sound like you are enjoying your jaunt despite it the reason for it. I hope the vet can help Bessie quickly and hopefully cheaply.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Quickly, yes, but it cost another £207 😮😮 Bless her. She had dozed off by the time we got home and was so tired she didn't even want a grape. Had to put her straight in the hen house with the others 😍
Stil, I had £500 budgeted for vets bills in YNAB so it's not upset the budget at all. Hooray for budgets!9
