You may believe all these multiple studies to be conclusive over the last decade but the reality begs to differ, as the situation continues to get worse. Spouting "toxic" and "harmful" because you dont like a differing opinion helps no-one
Fat shaming kills people. If it was as easy as awareness raising and humiliating people - and there's plenty people on this thread queueing up to do that- the country would be underweight. Other studies suggest the meat/potato/dairy marketing boards, high fructose corn syrup, etc, have a lot more to do with it. And ready meals. And poverty. And family units changing. But I have yet to find a single study where fat shaming helps. Not one. Out of thousands. Find just one and I'll happily read it, the methodology, and the validity statistics.
Do you honestly not see that your behaviour is bullying and may have a severe bad impact on the vulnerable who are here for help?
Again I think discussion time is the place to debate such opinions. They were not asked for on this thread. Unsolicited advice is invariably unhelpful. That last bit is my opinion. The rest of my post is based on actual science .2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
As a non-smoker (as in never tried one), I never 'shamed' anyone for smoking.
And I'd never shame anyone for being overweight either.0 -

Nor me.
When we started going out my partner was a smoker. She would only smoke outside so it didn't really affect me much. I wasn't keen on it but it was her choice and I wasn't going to say anything.
A while later she gave up as she didn't think it was fair on me. Knowing her, had I made a thing about it she would have dug her heels in. And carried on.

The overuse of the word "bullying" and "fat shaming" doesnt help the cause either.0 -

How is suggesting we need a different strategy to deal with obesity either fat shaming or bullying??0 -

Well you know. To quote yourself the strategy you suggest is
Its about time people stopped tiptoeing around the obese issue. It needs tackling head-on, with less tact and fewer excuses. It is the modern version of smoking. People were shamed into giving up smoking."
So, umm, you're proposing a strategy of shaming. In your own actual words.
Now. Do you have any non shaming suggestions to help the OP with the problem of bullying they've asked for help with? Or is it all about weight with you?2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

The smoking issue was eventually tackled head-on, sometimes with brutal images, advertising campaigns and eventually demonised in public areas .... and there are fewer smokers now than ever in modern times .... So it worked didnt it?0 -

You're proposing people stop eating? Or do you get to choose what they eat? Does everyone get the same acceptable foods list? What if fast food outlets pay more taxes to have their food deemed acceptable? Do people on low incomes get a state delivered food box? Are there patches to help give up sugar? Do we ban TV chefs who use cream?
Because tax\ role models\ restricted availability were more successful than shaming.
I'm no longer sure what your actual argument is. Fat shame people as long as we don't accuse you of doing it?
I'm going to stop engaging with you now as I suspect your real purpose is to try and "win" on a topic you have little actual knowledge of.
That is not going to help dekaspace nearly as much as empathy, a kind word, and knowing some people value human life whatever their size.
Go ahead. Have the last word. Just try and put some actual science based facts in there.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

None of the above, i merely suggested that obesity is tackled in an alternative manner. The smoking is an example of an alternative strategy that worked.
Regardless of your attempts at superiority, the fact remains the current strategy/enablement isnt working and obesity is/will become the biggest challenge to us and the NHS.0
