    Morning all!

Thanks for the well wishes. I have a few sore scrapes and bruises and dented pride but appear to be otherwise unscathed. Extending well wishes back out to everyone else :)

OH home fine, just a bit tired. Weather here is not snowy (we rarely get the snow as it gets dumped either in Wales or over the Pennines. It's blimmin freezing though and the wind was actually whistling round the house yesterday
In a fit of optimism I actually pegged the washing out yesterday and my optimism was well rewarded. It was pretty much dry!

Can't say that I'm sitting here in 20 layers with no heating on, polishing my mse halo. It would be more than my life is worth to risk the LL's pipes freezing and bursting so I am keeping the place warm with low heating on all day.

Walked to the gym yesterday morning before the wind picked up for a physio app. Will have to nip to Tesco today for coffee (we are out!!!) but will wrap up warm. Gym later for the second workout of the Open.

I finished my final crochet WIP yesterday (photos to follow once it's washed, blocked and dried. That means that today I will start learning to knit!!! :j
    MSE things:
    • Keep heating at a sensible level. - done
    • B/L from stores. Might pay the £1.50 and have food at the gym after the workout - done
    • Make meal plan, sort click and collect shop for tomorrow - done
    • Mend OH's fur lined leather gloves (fake fur!) - done
    • Learn to knit - done
    • No alcohol - done
    • Bit of a tidy round - done
    • Block crochet dress - done
    • OH gigging tonight - done
Right. I need to get showered and get coffee. My brain is hurting now. Have a good one all

Morning all from the not-so-sunny SW :)
It is really quiet outside, and the road outside looks treacherous - I live on a minor through road that normally gets quite busy at certain times of the day, but I don't think I have seen more than a couple of cars go past so far. Lots of places are closed, brother's appointment at the HA office has been cancelled due to the weather, most schools closed etc - and this isn't the worst hit area by any means.
Got the fire alight, a rabbit stew in the SC, other cooking bits to do, and I have no plans to go anywhere if I can help it!

    Specifics:
HG cooked fruit from freezer for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit :)
Got a pile of bags of frozen raspberries, plus a random bag of red and black currants out to defrost to make cordial. When I froze them, I intended jam, but have since decided to use up my preserve mountain before making more. I got the recipe from Pippi Longstocking, who occasionally posts on this thread (:wave:hello Pippi, if you are lurking). It looks pretty easy. You only use the juice, so I will make fruit pie filling with the leftover fruit, together with cooking apples that I bought yesterday :)
Washed out bags the raspberries were in and pegged out on the line - it is windy and cold but not snowing atm
    Must update freezer list
    Check banks and update spreadsheet
Check for surveys later if I can be bothered (still cross at onepoll :mad:for screening me out 80% of the way through 2 surveys the other day)
Rabbit stew will be for dinner
Leftover soup in fridge for lunch
Will make cordial / pie filling when the raspberries thaw out
Have some pastry in the fridge to use up - possibly mince pies

Candles lit because it is really dark here. OH and brother have just returned from their perambulations, so they will probably want the light on, but I was enjoying the peace, and saving electricity :)

Coffee nearly finished, better get on with the next job!

    Hello Friday Frugalistas,
Gutted to wake this morning & find that lergy recovery seems to have gone back a day. I defo felt better yesterday. Had been looking forward to going into town this morning, but didn't feel well enough first thing. Have achieved a few things, just more slowly than usual.
*mr f is off today as he has to work at the weekend, so he did the grocery shopping. A bit over budget this week, mostly due to the local market having been cancelled because of the snow, & a little bit due to buying 2 or 3 little treats to cheer up his poorly woman. All budget pots updated.
*Managed to get the couple of things I wanted for Mum for Mothering Sunday at 20% off in Waitrose (& qualified for a free Guardian too).
*Asked mr f to pick up a box of my hair colour, which he found for £2 off.
*Cleaned whole house between us. I did kitchen, bathroom, bin & general tidy & he has vacuumed everywhere. Minimal products as usual & washable cloths.
    *Did a couple of surveys.
*Will update my DFW diary, which although early days is providing some renewed focus for getting this outstanding bit of loan paid off.
*All free leisure as I want to finish the book Mum lent me & do all the foot shaping on the socks I'm knitting for mr f. He baggsied them as liked the colours (I'm using up stuff from my yarn stash atm).
Candles sound like a great idea, Dawn. I think I will light the pretty snowdrop one I received for Christmas.
Have a good day all.......Oh my days, Cat is doing my head in this morning! He really needs to go outside & run off some steam but he doesn't like all the snow, so he's flopping around meowing in the hope of getting his dinner 4 hours early. Not going to happen, mate!
    F xx

It's not been a good time in the Happy Kitties household where technology is concerned.
After phone took a swImming lesson last week (fortunately pay £2 insurance a month on.it......best investment) my laptop decides to have a run in with the stairlift last nite....stairlift won and screen smashed.
Tablet that I used all the time had suddenly packed up on me but after the phone last week I decided to get both the phone and tablet checked out together.
Tablet was sent away, expected a bill for repair but when I rang today it's on its way back to me and has been repaired under warranty.....at last some good news.
Will get laptop screen fixed when I have some spare monies.
After stocking up apart from being very cold outside we just have the last of the snow disappearing from Tues.

Me again (writing this post from my phone and struggling!)
Meant to say 1LL after stocking up apart from the weather being very cold we just have bits of the snow from Tues slowly disappearing. DD has been hit badly......she insisted on facetiming me while trying to walk to breakfast......I'm sure she thinks I've never seen snow before!
Banking all checked and some bits paid.
Still have to do a final grocery update for Feb.
I've put the heating up,I'm layered up but am feeling the cold today.
Plenty of beef casserole made so will portion up for the freezer
Washing machine just about to go on
I've a window upstairs that doesn't shut properly so that has been bubble wrapped
Well off for to clean the bathroom
    Stay safe everyone x

< Scales mountains sure-footedly...slips in shower in safety of own home! :( Black and blue, including the ankle I injured last year.

Prior to this I managed to batch cook:

    Chicken soup
    Pancakes

  • Hi all :hello:I dip in and out of this thread all the time, reading what you lovely lot have been up to but I’ve decided I’m going to start posting on a regular basis as I’m beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the things I have / should be doing. On the agenda for today is:

    * Check bank and moved money around
    * Speak to Dad about borrowing some money from him as the financial situation has got a bit dire these days
    * Check if Ebay buyer has paid for item yet
    * Matched betting
    * Make up freezer inventory - really want to defrost the freezer but will need to get run it down first
    * Meal plan for next week
    * Write shopping list
    * Aldi / Asda and stick to the list!
    * Set up savings challenge spreadsheet
    * Go through presents box & see what I have for this month’s birthdays
    * Online shopping for the rest of this month’s birthday bits
    * Put 5 things on Ebay
    * Might be going to the cinema later - will look for any money off and take food with me
    * Look at / Join grocery challenge - I seem to be spending a lot on food shopping and would like to work on reducing my monthly figure
    * Start journaling and also writing down good / happy things that have happened throughout the day

Working this evening so I think that’s enough for now. Hope everyone is well and has a great Saturday!
