  • Afternoon all!

I hope you all had a good weekend :)

    This week's bits and bobs:

    - Post some important letters - DONE
    - Do the final bit of balance transfer to blitz my high-interest card - DONE
    - Make pizza dough for tonight - DONE
    - Set up a new payment recipient in advance of getting a new standing order set up
    - Sort out some bits of paperwork - IN PROGRESS
    - Carry on listing things on eBay (meh, dragging my heels on this one)
    - Go over the budget for what feels like the twentieth time this year tweaking more bits
    - Get my ancient sewing machine out and see if it still works
    - Be prepared for a very long walk to/from work if the dreaded snow hits later this week! (it's been negligible so far)
    - Make some lunches for work - i don't think sandwiches will really cut it once it starts getting sub-zero around here :)

    * Ordered prescription through App from the comfort of home.

    * Submitted meter readings online. Calculated Gas and Elec spends. Same as last month. Still more than I would like to spend but we have to stay warm up here in the North Pole.

    * Reset a PIN number.

    News:

Some idiot has set up a Fake News page suggesting that Martin Lewis says we should all invest in Bitcoins. Please don't fall for this nonsense.

    Good Morning All

DNMS - Thanks for starting us off today

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

I think I have turned a corner and the lergy is lifting (hope I'm not talking too soon), yesterday DH and I went for a lovely walk which really helped clear my head and blow away the cobwebs although the cough kept me awake all night again. Today we will:

Check Bank & made PAD - Done
    Washing - Done
    Ironing - Done
Purge a few emails - Done a few
Enter a few comps - Done a few
    Surveys - a couple
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer - Done
Check: Tombola Stars, Lucky Bob, Luckyphone, FPL - Done

    Have a great day all.

    C x

A great day list wise but boy am I shattered now and haven't left the house. Still have a shocking cough (that has me rooted to the spot and bent double) and sore throat but have been doing lots of steaming (with menthol crystals) which seems to be clearing my head.

    Take care all, stay safe.

    Night

  • Morning all :hello:

Up early and wanting to be productive before work so I've already been pottering and just sitting down for some coffee and quiet time before the rest of the house gets up. I have:

Got granola cooking in the oven
Put brisket in sc for tonight, chucked in a few bendy carrots that I'd saved and an onion that wasn't fit for anything else (won't use the stock as it's far too fatty from brisket)
    Checked banking

    I will :
Packed lunch to work, hm soup from Christmas Stilton out of freezer
    Dd packed lunch
DH not working today now but he can still have his packed lunch at lunch time
Replace screen protector on my phone, it cracked this morning as I was playing dodge the cat on the stairs  and I dropped it. He things it's affectionate trying to rub up against your leg weaving from side to side on the stairs rather than going down them. I can normally step over him, but not at the moment as with my ankle I can only go down one step at a time. I have one as I bought a pack of 3 when I got my phone. Much cheaper than screen replacement
Call architect and ask him to submit our extension plans for planning approval
Hope the white stuff stays away otherwise I'll really not want to be in the office an hour away and have a rubbish commute home
If weather ok, go to gym tonight
Get ys celeriac out of freezer to make mash for tea, never had it before :o but trying alternatives to potatoes when we can (especially ys ones :rotfl:)
    Mindfulness app
Hang washing on radiators whilst on, then on airer

Stay warm and safe frugal pals.

    Hi February Fabulistas,

The Wee Elf is still rough with tonsilitis. Have decided to go Bike&Go cycling and see if that helps me feel better. Kill or cure. :rotfl: Actually feeling more like "cure". Did a 15 mile route along the coast on mainly cycle paths. Spotted a Little Egret and a Buzzard en route. Also had a free Hail Facial. The snow is arriving.

    Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:

    * Good, homemade, sustaining breakfast.

    * Work very hard on my own mental health issues. Do Holistrio App.

    * Check online banking and broadband usage.

    * Turned off alarm clock until tonight, it resets itself automatically.

    * Lunch is homemade meatballs I batch-cooked last week.

    Morning folks

Snowy but bright and sunny currently here in the NW. OH has landed safely in Berlin where the is no snow but it's very cold.

Bit of a weird morning... I think I have offended my boss - there's been an ongoing project in the background that involved another manager and he ended up out the loop. ooops. Oh well :rotfl:

    So onto the mission:
    • B/L/D from stores even though I'm on my tod - done
    • Heating off until I get in - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Poss crochet if I get time - no time
    • Early night as don't have to wait up for OH! - done
    • No alcohol - done
    • Reconcile month end on spreadsheet - done
    • Couldn't get a lunch break and go to the gym but got a bit of exercise spreading both car parks with salt this morning. - done
    Have a good one all

Looks like I'll be working overtime today... annoying but extra money
    2 hours and counting.

    Hello Snowy Savers,
Several snow showers so far today, but it only gets so far with settling before the sun comes out & it melts, so I'm hoping we won't have too many problems until overnight when the drop below freezing will mean that any further showers do settle well. Thought I was picking up a bit yesterday - I soooo want to be back to my usual self - but the lergy is worse this morning, after a dreadful night. I'm surprised my lungs weren't sitting in front of me on the duvet this morning, the amount of coughing I was doing all night. I'm going to make some hot ginger cordial later & see if that helps my sore throat. A useful money saving day though:
*My monthly Big Budget Day. Reconciled Feb's outgoings (no nasty surprises) & set March's budget.
*Wrote up a new grocery budget tracker sheet in my bullet journal.
*Paid a very nasty credit card bill in full (that was the one with 4 new car tyres on it). Checked the other CC account online - a NIL balance, as I hoped, & it can stay that way!
*Dealt with various cash swaps to keep new month's budget pots straight. Decided how much to pay into our regular savings piggies, allowed us each an extra £10 this month on our personal spends (am figuring that we will want to catch up on going out as soon as I am better). Paid a spare £79 across to our LPDF.
*Read energy meters & uploaded to website.
    *Did a very few surveys.
    *Entered 3 prize draws.
*Put £15 leftover February personal spends into my secret little tin - that's bound to come in useful at some point.
    *Relisted an ebay item.
*Trying a new recipe tonight - Hairy Bikers' Channa Masala.....basically looks like a nice warming chickpea curry. I'm making my garlic flatbreads to go with it.
    *Knit
*Read more of the book I borrowed from Mum.
*Put another laundry load on timer for cheap overnight tariff.
*No downstairs heating on so far because I have been up in my little HQ all morning. Thought I may as well save a few quid. It's bloomin' cold, but I'm not heating rooms no-one's using.
*Still thinking about starting a DFW diary. I have found new focus recently & think a diary could hone it even further.
OK, that's my list. Am off to put the kettle on now. Stay warm,
    F x
