My journey to a debt free life

Another good day at work ππ walked home and had a lovely left over roast dinner for my tea ππ
Tonight I have mostly been searching for wood pellet cat litter. I used to get 30 litre bags delivered from Pets at Home but they don't deliver it any more and I can't pick it up because it's too heavy. I've bought some online now from vio vet and amazon but it's more expensive ( it's gone up a lot over the last few months) I don't like any other cat litter because it smells and wood pellets don't but it's costing too much so I don't know what to do. I was thinking of trying wood shavings but I think this will be too messy. I might just give it a go and see what happens when the next lot runs out. I read somewhere the other day that a lady uses porridge oats which she then composts but I balk at the idea of using food for this purpose when there are people out there who can't afford to eat properly π
My pets are costing more to keep than myself ππ³Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = Β£17,630 Paid To Date = Β£6,510 Owed = Β£11,1202 -
Oops forgot to say I had my review with the gp today. She phoned me while I was on the bus to work which was good because I didn't then have to worry about missing her call at work π
Β My steroids are now being reduced to 12.5 mgs for another 4 weeks and then they reduce them by 1mg very 4 weeks to see how you get on.
Β If symptoms start to come back they might have to increase them again and I have to let them know straight away.
I don't need any more bloods because my crp levels are now normal and I'm now liaising with the surgeries in-house pharmacists so they can tweak the dosage to suit my treatment which means I don't need any more GP appointments unless I have a flare upΒ
I pick up my new meds tomorrow when I go and meet my friend for coffee πΒ
Hopefully I will get on ok on the lower dose, I get nervous when they change it in case it comes back. My CRP levels are only 1 so I should be ok. I had a rough day when they lowered it from 40 to 15 but that was a big drop so I'm hoping that won't happen again.ΒOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = Β£17,630 Paid To Date = Β£6,510 Owed = Β£11,1202 -
40 to 15 sounds like the sort of change that would give anyone a rough day but I suppose the positive to take from that is that you've adjusted to the lower dose and don't have to be weaned off the higher dose after using for a longer time - if that makes sense. It really seems as though the treatment is working for you, and it's great you don't have to keep going back to the GP.
Can you order the cat litter from Pets at Home online?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I don't know why the wood pellet cat litter started shooting up in price. Soot & Ash no longer require a litter tray, but while they did, that was our litter of choice because it is less messy & could also be trenched under our hedges where it just breaks down naturally. We used to buy ours from Waitr*se & it was about Β£4 a bag, so more expensive than the alternatives. Then it was Β£4.50 & the very next week, it had increased by another 50p, so we did change to the basic clay stuff then because the price differential was too big. I think finding a different online supplier for a bulk sack might be your best option, unless you have any local indie pet shops or garden centres with pet department who do deliveries.
I'm happy now not to be buying it. We have an emergency bag just in case either cat needs to be kept indoors for a short while for a medical reason, but apart from that I'm thankful for the cat flap as they've both got used to going outdoors for ablutions.
Good to hear you are still feeling well on your new drug regime.

I had trouble getting to sleep last night because my left shoulder was throbbing a bit, I gave in and took some ibuprofen in the end . It was ok this morning but aching a bit now, I will have to keep an eye on it and see what happens. It's not painful enough to really bother me but I'm conscious it's there.
I met my friend for coffee today so we had a good catch up. She had Covid along with her husband over Christmas so their plans were ruined π they both had Christmas at new year.
Β I then came home and took down my tree and the garlands from the living room. Everything is back in the loft now and my living room looks bare, I miss my tree π but it's very tidy and clutter free so there is an upside.
Im working tomorrow so will be out all day but then I have four days off which I'm really looking forward to. I've got lots to do so will be busy and I might even get as far as going into town to look for boots π€π€if I keep putting it off it will be summer again and I won't need any Β π
Today the weather was just wrong, I walked along the river to meet my friend and it was so mild I had to take my coat off πthis is just not right and I really worry about what it means. Tonight there is rain and it's very rainy but still very mild for January ,we should have frost and ice now not this mild weather.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = Β£17,630 Paid To Date = Β£6,510 Owed = Β£11,1202 -

The cat litter I use is Smart Litter wood pellet litter. Itβs Β£5.45 for 10L from Morrisons. It used to be a couple of Β£ cheaper but has gone up like everything else. Only the young cat uses it, she mostly goes outside but I like to keep a tray indoors for overnight.ΒI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

We only have Tescoβs up here and have really struggled with litter. We were tripping out to P at H (a 60mile round trip) and buying in bulk, but suddenly they stopped being reliable and it was flying off the shelves when they got it. We are now resorting to breeder select paper litter, which is expensive, but seems ok to order online. We have 4 indoor cats so go through a lot of it.
