A Scottish colleague just had her energy bill for December and it was £525! She was really shocked. She pays for what she uses monthly like you do.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Although it seems a lot, I would say that is quite accurate unless you don't use energy much. My friend who is on holiday in Spain for 2 months,  has left her heating on 13c just to keep the house warm. Apart from that the only thing on is the freezer.  Her energy bill for the first month was £300....and she's not even in the house!  It was extra cold in December though.

Hopefully they’ve made a big mistake on the bill 😳
It's probably correct, I was actually expecting it to be more to be honest. We had that really cold spell in December and I was at home all day for a lot of it so the heating was on all day. I've got the funds to pay it but obviously would like not to have to

God that's awful, mind you it's a lot colder in Scotland than it is in Devon. I was expecting it to be over £300 so I'm not too shocked 😊

I reckon it's quite accurate. We had that really cold weather in December and I've been at home a lot more than normal over the month. I've definitely used my heating when I've needed it. If I was your friend I would query that bill because I've been here with my heating on at 18 degrees or more during the day but turned off all night. I have two showers a day DD has one. Then there's the cooking and lights plus her computer is on all the time so that doesn't seem right to me

    Wow that's high 🙀

  • I should say that my energy bill mentioned above didn't include the £67 from the crooks in control of the country at the moment so would be more than that without it.

I had a terrible nights sleep last night due to my chest making an awful whistling sound while I was breathing, it kept me awake for ages. Hopefully it won't be the same tonight 🤞🤞 I got up at 7.30 and had breakfast but went back to bed until 10 because I was shattered.

I went into town to get my prescription and ordered the other meds I need  and I also found myself a nice pair of boots. I went into the Shuropody shop and got some in the sale with some of my Christmas money they are waterproof as well apparently. They are very comfortable but I paid a lot more for them than I normally would. I got them reduced from £120 to £80 when normally I wouldn't pay more than £40 but I need good quality lightweight and more importantly comfortable boots that are hopefully waterproof like they say they are. The brand is Joseph Seibel and I've never heard of them before. They are like slippers 😍😍

I also took a bag full of bits to the charity shop so that's some more bits decluttered. I will have a minimalist house 😀

I have Joseph Seibel sandals (car boot find!) and they are very comfortable as well as sturdy. I think they are marketed as 'the European comfort shoe'. Your boots sound lovely and I expect they'll pay you back in longevity and care for your feet.

That's a good brand, @OBL. I keep getting their footwear popping up on my FB feed, & would defo consider them when I need new boots.
