I don't think your selfish either , they are very tiring small children. I love my grandkids and they are very good, but always ready to hand them back at the end of the day.
I prefer animals to people and would rather babysit their dog 😂😂
My sister said the exact same thing to me the day before yesterday 😂 Somehow she has ended up minding her grandchildren while their mother does the grocery shopping every week.....

I don’t think you’re selfish at all children are hard work and we have done our bit I do like to see mine but love it when they go home I haven’t got the energy now
This is exactly what I mean,I've done all that and now I'm 58 I want to spend my time doing things for me. I think if I was retired I might not find it so hard, their other granny is retired and she loves it,she has 5 DGC including my two and looks after various children every day. I really don't know how she does it 😳

I totally agree with you.  When I got married everyone kept asking when are you going to have children.  My mother never ever did.  Once he was 5 it was different, he was a reasonable, reasoning child so that was okay.  She wasn't that keen on us when we were babies either.  Years later shwe did actually describe bringing us up properly as being a duty!

I'm not keen on babies to be honest,I like older children that you can chat with 😀I didn't find bringing my own children up duty and I really enjoyed it, I was sad when they got to the age where they were independent but then I got used to having adult children and really enjoyed that too. My youngest DD says she doesn't want children at all, I thought my DGC might change her mind but she says now she has looked after someone else's child she definitely doesn't want any 😀😀

I used to find looking after young grandchildren very tiring (they are 19 and 24 now so dont require a lot of looking after :)). Its not selfish at all. When you are still working as a grandparent especially in a stressful job it is not the same as those who are home all day and can adjust their activities accordingly.

Me too, I love them both to bits and love spending time with them but not being solely responsible. They are both lovely and make me laugh so much but I find it really hard work now and actually try not to sit down while they are here because I'm worried I will fall asleep 😟

I wish someone would have looked after mine while I went shopping ,I used to have to take them both with me on the bus and then lug all the shopping back with the pram on the bus. When I had DD 1 I used to put her in her pram and walk to town which was an hour each way, but I used to shop in Iceland and get the food delivered the next day, there was no internet shopping back then either, mind you I was really fit from all the walking and never used to put weight on

Yes like I said I think if I was retired I wouldn't mind so much. I also think if my health was better I would find it easier. When I have worked a 12 hour shift though the last thing I want to do on my day off is run round after a small child. The only sad thing about this situation is that I only actually get to see them if I babysit so if I don't do it I run the risk of not seeing them at all 😟

I prefer them when you can chat with them too, rather than babies. I’m not the most maternal person on the planet by a long shot. When I found out I was expecting DS people laughed saying how on earth would I cope with a baby 🤣
