I made the huge mistake of giving up work in a similar situation. My finances never really recovered. Finally DD’s staff discount is coming off the Mr M shop again with the new website. Only taken them since February to sort it out. This has taken a further £10 off the bill 🥳
Took the dog on the park at lunchtime but she was hassled to death by a puppy that just wouldn’t leave her alone so I had to bring her back home.Original Debt Owed Jan 18 = £17,630 Paid To Date = £6,510 Owed = £11,1203 -
Some dog owners are a real pain & I do blame the owners not the dog. We were walking round the market on Sunday and this dog suddenly dashed across (6ft) & tried to grab my friends hand. The owners didn't even say whoops sorry. I think that's what annoyed me most. It's a good job he has quick reactions & was turning round to me at the time & saw it coming. Missed by less than an inch!

Morning, happy hump day
The dog got me up at 1.30 to go out, the cat cashed in on it and also went out. Thankfully I got back to sleep straightaway.
It will be NSD 13/15 today.
Not been for a morning walk yet but will take a break later this morning to take the dog on the park before it gets busy. This is the problem with school holidays, normally in the week there's hardly anyone on it.
Today's cleaning task is the bathroom.
I've got a pensions workshop via work this afternoon, I always come out of these things none the wiser about my pension. I really need to start thinking about it because I've only officially got 6 years left of work and when I think back to 6 years ago it has flown by.

I’m the same with pensions, they word things in such complicated ways that tell you nothing. Mine split when the company kindly downgraded the pension plan, now one includes the state pension in the forecast (horrific as it’s not theirs to gift and I could go before that bit is payable) and the other one is anyone’s guess. They are independent so could both be promising it! To work out what I could actually get is really shaky and I don’t trust it ☹️ I have 15 years to try and work out what might happen 😖

The pensions workshop was surprisingly very useful. The woman doing it was very good and didn’t speak in jargon. I’ve now registered on my work pensions portal and can see how much is in there and how much my pension will be. I can make additional payments into it to boost it should I so wish so I will look into this. Needless to say I won’t be retiring in the lap of luxury but I won’t be destitute. The dog got a good hassle free run on the park this morning then a longer walk to another local park at lunchtime. It’s been a mild, mostly sunny, dry and windy day so took advantage and stripped the bed, got it all dry.
Had a bit of a relapse with the lurgy and felt achy with wobbly legs again this afternoon.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I was today invited to a pensions workshop by coincidence, so have registered! I have both portals, but because of losing a large lump of my good one during a legal robbery (divorce…apparently you have to support them all the time they are sponging off you and also when you cut them free 😖) it’s always more complicated. Like you, I expect to be just about ok as long as the mortgage is gone. I was horrified to find you pay tax on it, tax is never ending ☹️I hope you feel better soon. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Have you both checked your personal state pension entitlement? That should be worth around £10k a year to you (not to be sniffed at). Do not assume what you expect to get - check it. A lot of the articles in the papers are total BS & only apply if you have done what everyone is supposed to have done. Find out for yourself.

Funnily enough I was looking at pensions today too. I have gaps in service and I don't think I will have enough, to be honest I don't understand it at all. I suspect I will be working forever.Nevertheless she persisted.4
