That’s why I’ve not let my lot go trick or treating. Having seen how vulnerable my elderly FIL and disabled BIL were and the anxiety they felt every Halloween, put me off.
Perhaps a good compromise is to put treats outside the gate or door to avoid being disturbed?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

We don't do it either, all lights off and we don't leave the house! Mainly here the nice families don't knock on houses without pumpkins but the horrible teenagers used to knock all night and the first few years I used to answer the door but they were so rude it was really unpleasant.
Am reading that book SA - Do not Disturb, really good, read anything else good recently?Nevertheless she persisted.4 -
Also no longer answer the door.

We’re the same here, I put a pumpkin at the window to let the kids to know I have treats and when they’re finished I take the pumpkin down and close the blinds.3

Our estate seems to go mad for Halloween. Loads of houses are dressed up and decked out. People are coming to have a walk or drive around and look at the houses.
The kids are good though. They only go to the houses that have decorations. We haven't put any up but we will leave some tubs of sweets at the end of the path for them.
It's the same at Christmas. The estate is becoming a places to visit to see the lights. We do join in with that one 🤣🤣🤣3 -
We have a Halloween Trail locally, where the decorated houses put themselves on a map to print out and you can go walking around to find them. A house a few doors away from us ended up on the news they’d decorated it that well, they completely covered their house with stuff, cost them a fortune apparently. The organisers of the trail have asked that you only go to look at the houses don’t knock on the door.

Happy Saturday 🥂 Strictly, Prosecco and curry night 💃🥳
Have been out shopping locally, got soaked. Absolutely pouring down. I’ve been all over, have already done almost 10k steps and I still need to take the dog out. It’s forecast sunny for this afternoon, I hope so.
DS and the GKs coming today. I’ve got a few Halloween bits to put up for them and made them a Halloween bucket of treats each. Got home from shopping to see a pumpkin balloon in the window. Mr SA had found it in the garden. He seems determined to attract trick or treaters 😬 I can’t get him to understand. I’d like to take the GKs to see the decorations in a local pub but that depends on it being dry as Mr SA will have to go on his scooter.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
We managed to get to the pub as the sun came out not long after my last post. The GKs loved the Halloween decorations. It looked amazing.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5
