  • That’s why I’ve not let my lot go trick or treating. Having seen how vulnerable my elderly FIL and disabled BIL were and the anxiety they felt every Halloween, put me off.

Perhaps a good compromise is to put treats outside the gate or door to avoid being disturbed?

  • We don't do it either, all lights off and we don't leave the house! Mainly here the nice families don't knock on houses without pumpkins but the horrible teenagers used to knock all night and the first few years I used to answer the door but they were so rude it was really unpleasant.

Am reading that book SA - Do not Disturb, really good, read anything else good recently?
    Nevertheless she persisted.

We’re the same here, I put a pumpkin at the window to let the kids to know I have treats and when they’re finished I take the pumpkin down and close the blinds.

Our estate seems to go mad for Halloween. Loads of houses are dressed up and decked out. People are coming to have a walk or drive around and look at the houses.

The kids are good though. They only go to the houses that have decorations. We haven't put any up but we will leave some tubs of sweets at the end of the path for them.

It's the same at Christmas. The estate is becoming a places to visit to see the lights. We do join in with that one 🤣🤣🤣
