Morning all, happy Thursday 🎄
Will be a short-ish day at work today for me as I'm leaving the house at 8.30 to pick my glasses up from Boots and do a few other bits of shopping while I'm in the city centre. Probably log on again around 12.30 and finish at 5. Then I'm on a day's leave tomorrow 🎉
So disappointed last night that I fell asleep halfway through drinking my advent gin. When I woke up the ice had melted and it was very watered down. Anyway the first half of the glass was very nice - Sipsmiths plain gin which I've had before and know I like. To be honest there aren't many gins I haven't tried 🤣
I was sad to hear yesterday that my WW coach is leaving WW this week. I hope this doesn't mean that the physical workshops will be closing in favour of the virtual ones. I love going to my Saturday morning workshop and have got to know quite a few people there, we all sit and have a chat before the talk begins, it will be very sad if it finishes. I've tried the virtual classes a couple of times and there just not the same.
Mr SA is suffering with painful gums and if he's no better today I'll have to try and get him in at the dentist. His dentist is only seeing emergencies at the moment but he's been in pain for a few days now so hopefully this will be classed as an emergency. I've had to take him some painkillers up this morning.
The saga with the prescription continues and I'm at the point of giving up and leaving it with the local chemists. Echo have been very good and looking into it for me via Messenger but it's at the stage now where they are saying I have to ask the chemist to release the prescription back into the central NHS database so Echo can pick it up. The doctors said Echo and the local chemists should short this bit out between them and it's not for me or the doctors to be chasing around after 😣
Have a good one x

Hope you can get Mr SA into the dentists. Mouth pain is always the worst!5 -
Hello Sun Addict, I've only recently read enough of your diaries to understand where your challenges have come from over the last few years.
I just want to say you are a remarkable lady, my jaw dropped when late in the reading it became clear you were 60ish not 40ish.
If anyone 100% deserves their gin advent calendar its you8 -

Yeah 60 in years but forever 21 inside warby 😂
I have had a horrendous ordeal in town this morning, why is nothing ever straightforward.
Got to M&S just before 9 with plans to spend this £15 off beauty voucher only valid until 20 December. Spent ages looking round, not a lot to choose from, stocks pretty low. Decided on a sleep spray and a set of fragrances, took them to the till the sleep spray didn't qualify as beauty so they I went back to change it to a bubble bath. Ended up in a long queue, got to the till then suddenly the fragrance didn't count as it had 30% off. By this time it was close to 10am and my appointment time so I had to leave my shopping behind.
Got to Boots with a minute to spare. Guess what, they couldn't find my glasses. I was in there ages before they eventually found them. Bearing in mind they only rang me yesterday to say they were ready so they couldn't have gone far. At least I've got them now though and they are so much better than reading glasses for computer use.
Town was quite busy and the queue too long to go in the card shop so I haven't got my cards or stamps. I'd had enough by this stage. I nipped in Wilko for a few bits and then Lidl on the way home. Lidl was empty by contrast so managed to get round pretty quickly. Mr SA couldn't come out to help me with the bags as it was pouring with rain and his scooter sometimes cuts out if the electrics get wet, he didn't want to risk it. So I carried two heavy bags up the hill in the rain. On the plus side I've done 17,000 steps already. Absolutely ridiculous you can't even go and have a coffee in town. To be honest I've no plans to set foot in the place until this Covid farce is over. One of the sports shops was heaving and no social distancing in there whatsoever.
Was soaked and shattered by the time I got home, felt like I'd been on an assault course.
And I still need to take the dog out at some stage, she hasn't been out yet 😓

Forgot to add the strap on my handbag broke on the escalators in M&S. I just managed to grab it in time before it got tangled with the last stair. You couldn't make it up.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8

What a morning! After that I would be having my Advent calendar gin right now. At least you've got your VDU glasses now, they do make such a difference don't they?

Sorry you had such a horrendous morning - sometimes it feels like the universe has conspired against you and especially the rain. Hope you are dried out now. Surprised M&S didn't have anything you wanted - could you get one of the little beauty gift sets and use if as Christmas present? I also recommend the Emma Hardie Moringa balm, The tiny one is only £10 but it's gorgeous and does last a while. I got given it as in a gift box and now have to fight myself not to buy the large jar which isn't quite justifiable. It really feels like a treat using it.On a separate note, I know you use a slow cooker a lot. Have you ever tried rice pudding? I just got one and am still learning. Followed the recipe in the booklet but my pudding seems to have little gritty uncooked bits of rice it it, so not sure what's gone wrong. Any advice welcome.Hope the rain eases off before the dog walk...

No I’ve never made rice pudding either in a slow cooker or any other way. I can remember my mum making ground rice pudding in the oven and it having a disgusting skin on top. I’m going down the online route with the £15 M&S voucher, should be a better choice.
DD has finally told me what she wants for Christmas - a warm dressing gown, hallelujah 🥳I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8
