Hi there SA - Happy New Year to you and yours!
I love your 2019 goals list. Might I just come over all school-marmiish and order you to make sure that you keep up religiously with items 15 and 16 on the list!
Glad you got the new fridge/freezer - the one I had before my current f/f lasted nearly 15 years! I wonder how long my current one will last. When I moved here some years ago we had a washing machine/ fridge repair shop. Alas that went about seven years ago when the proprietor retired! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Enjoy you new fridge freezer.
Have a good weekend - bet it feels longer than a usual weekend as you’ve worked at home today.January spends - £587.580 -
Working at home was good yesterday, logged off at 3pm, home at 3pm
The downside was I didn't get my 20,000 steps in walking to and from work and I didn't go out for a walk or the gym at lunchtime.
I've been hatching a new budget plan for a few days and I've come up with the following plan:
50% of income is for needs - bills and groceries
30% is for wants - holidays, spending cash, clothes, house things, meals out, etc
20% for debt/savings
The 30% wants category has been broken down further into:
50% for holidays
50% other spends
I've set myself up a year's worth of budgeting on a spreadsheet so I can track it over the year. If I don't track this is where I go free range so I'm hoping it will keep me motivated.
I'm hoping it will stop me buying random things as I'll have to think whether there's money in the pot for it.
Once the debt is paid off I can start to save, which is something I really need to do being only 8 years away from retirement.
As this won't start properly until the end of January when I get paid, I've got a fairly tight budget until then, but hey ho who hasn't this time of year. But it's do-able and we won't starve. Just need to put Mr SA off any pester lists he comes up with this month.
Anyway, need to get ready to go to WW, dreading the scales :eek:I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hope WW was ok? I'm clinging to the consolation of what goes on quickly generally comes off quickly.
I am so with you on the appliances. How many microwaves have I blown up in last year, three I think. Two replaced under warranty. My WM is on its way out, just as it's five year parts only warranty has finished. The only things that seem to last are the Miele ones but there is a big premium on that.
For me the biggest barrier has been the cost of repairs, my oven was £142 to repair. I can see why people just buy a new one sometimes.
Hope you have a lovely day, and that his mither list remains empty. My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Just a quickie as I need to take the dog out now the GKs have gone. I prefer them coming earlier in the day as I don't feel like the whole day is taken up, although Mr SA was pestering for his lunch (if it's not there dead on 12 he gets agitated). He tried to get me to go out to fetch him some ham and a pork pie from the local expensive butchers, I made him make do with cheese rolls, sausage rolls and crisps that we already had in. Feel like I won a battle there
I was pleased to find I'd only put 1.5lbs on at WW so still within goal rangeThe aim is to get back to goal by the end of the month and 5lbs under by the time I go on holiday. So 3lbs to lose this month which is do-able. Then 5lbs by mid April. I feel like it's so much more than 1.5lbs though. Will be back to tracking and meal planning properly from now on.
