  • Great news about the new fridge freezer and great to get a discount too :T. Definitely worth checking to see if the old one needs defrosting first.

It’s frost free so won’t defrosting. I checked the instructions in case we had to unplug it but they do this as part of the removal and installation. Good job as it’s so heavy we can’t move it. I can’t wait as the fridge has been off a few days now and stinks. I’ve had to throw everything away which has gutted me. You just can’t manage without a fridge.

I’m working at home tomorrow so I can supervise. They’ll be here between 8am and 11am.

Back in the gym today at lunchtime.

Got interrupted mid post by Mr SA!

Was going to say I'm sick to death of having to have things repaired/ replaced. Since September we've both have had to have new mobiles phones, the boiler has been repaired twice, we've had the oven repaired (boiler and oven both under 2 years old!), we've had the washing machine repaired and the fridge freezer replaced. Why isn't anything made to last now? I notice most things are only guaranteed for 2 years. Not good :( Hopefully (surely!!!!!) that's it now.

On the plus side with the fridge freezer, it will make me get rid of the many half used jars I've been harbouring with probably no plans to use again.

I've got an online Mr M order arriving tomorrow and have taken off all the fresh stuff as I know the fridge freezer will need time to get up and running, I believe you have to let the gases settle.

Looking forward to working at home tomorrow, I'm lucky I can do this, we all have Surface Pros to enable us to be more flexible. I can have the radio on and I'll gain the time normally spent travelling to and from work :)

Glad you are sorted, it was so frantic sorting out C's - one of those huge american fridge-freezers - with potentially only a few hours to go. She honestly thought that I'd just be able to empty it in the morning into the cold boxes and thermo-bags, and our spare freezer, and then pop it all back after they'd been.
On the plus side she did give me some rather lovely prosecco by way of apology!

Was told by a shop assistant last year, that most electrical goods are only made to last about4/5 years so people will have to keep replacing them. Sounds about right, annoyingly.xx

Joey Jimbles my previous fridge freezer was an American one and when I replaced it with the one that's going tomorrow, I'd paid to have it taken away. When they saw the size of it they weren't best pleased to say the least!

Amber - You're right most appliances only last 4/5 years, it's not good in the current so called Eco aware climate. We live in a throwaway society. A lot of the Mediterranean countries I've been to they don't replace they repair.

At least one good thing is that as the old fridge freezer is going back to it's manufacturer so it will be recycled and they also use reusable packaging which they take away thankfully. Hate it when you have to get rid of packaging bit by bit. And don't get me started on polystyrene -bloomin' stuff :(

Remember years ago when my parents used to get people into repair their broken appliances, nowadays it's almost unheard of. One of my friends does try to get repairs done but the majority usually buy new.xx

If you really need to keep food cool and the fridge isn't working, put it ouside in a cat/fox proof box [one of those plastic storage boxes covered with a a blanket would do] and keep it out of the sunlight, or in a shed or garage. It's cold enough now that it's not going to warm up outside :)

    Happy Friday folks :)

On my lunch break at the moment. Just sent Mr SA out with the dog as he's driving me nuts moaning about there's nothing for his lunch. Can't believe he tried to get me to go to the shops to get him something!

The new fridge freezer is here and already up and running. The freezer was fine to use straight away. I've just switched the fridge on after letting it settle but it was quite cold when it arrived anyway so fine to use. It's a bit more spacious than my old one and so much more up to date. The old one and all the packaging has gone. They literally unplugged the old one, put it on the lorry, unpacked the new one and plugged it in, job done in around 10 minutes. Very impressed :)

Will need to pop out to the shops later to get the fresh stuff I didn't put on the Mr M order, I wish I had now as they're not coming until late afternoon.
