I would go for the vinyl.

The only problem with vinyl is that if it gets wet it can be slippy - not such a good idea at the top of the stairs.

I'll see what the carpet chap says about the vinyl. He might be able to come up with something. The vinyl in the bathroom and kitchen is non slip so something similar perhaps.
I'm fuming this morning as my Mr M order has been cancelled because my card issuer has refused payment 😞 I suspect it's because I ordered more than usual to take advantage of the 20% family discount. I've managed to get another delivery slot for tomorrow morning but I'm going to ring my card issuer to find out what's going on. I don't know whether it would be better to split the order into two and have one delivery tomorrow and another Thursday. Maybe it would be better for the payment to come straight out of the bank as the money is all coming out of the same grocery pot. Who knows. So annoying!
In good news it's payday. Seems ages since I last saw a payday as I was on holiday for the April one.
Today's exercise is live bums & tums at lunchtime, dog walking and live resistance band training after work. Might have to go to Mr T if we need anything food wise for today, I'm not sure if we do I'll have to check.
Tonight's dinner is the final portion of veg lasagne from the freezer with leftover salad bits. Having the other half of the butternut squash dhal for lunch.
A lot of people are on leave this week so hoping for a quiet working day, got a couple of meetings this morning and a few admin type bits to sort.
I need to pick up some paint ready for next week, I might make Mr SA's day by suggesting we go to B&Q his favourite shop to fetch some over the bank holiday weekend. Last time the painter supplied the paint but firstly it was an expensive way to do it and secondly I want to look at colours.

The card issuer couldn’t see any reason why payment was declined. I told them to put a note on my account to say I’ll be putting through a larger than normal amount tomorrow and not to decline it.I still think it’s because the amount is larger than normal but the issuer says it shouldn’t affect it. Very strange.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Don’t blame you for wanting to see the actual colours for yourself. I think non slip vinyl would be ideal….just throwing ideas in the pot as I’ve no idea of the layout of your house…..but could you match it by having similar on the downstairs hall and just carpet on the stairs. We had laminated flooring in our hall but carpet on the stairs. The hall carpet used to get really mucky…..it’s made such a difference. We have vinyl in the kitchen and everyone is surprised it isn’t actual wooden laminate…..I did want wooden laminate in the kitchen but the floor was slightly uneven 😏 twas rather expensive though but it looks good 😁👍January spends - £587.583

Azn/Hfx declined my card last night for no obvious reason either - perhaps something going on in the ether? Glad you got something sorted for a new delivery, I'd be cross about losing the discount.
We have some carpet wash stuff that is designed for the incontinent that works quite well - better than the bissel or vax type stuff. Ideal 365 Carpet Cleaner Urine, on Azn. Animals rather than humans here. Carpet wise the darker colours and nastier textured carpets worked better, pale coloured nice expensive wool less so.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks to the cancelled Mr M order I’ve managed NSD 11/10 today. We have enough to last us until tomorrow. Mr SA is in severe shortage of beer panic mode as he’s down to his last few cans 🙄 Fingers crossed the order is redelivered tomorrow.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
