pn take care lovely keep talking on mse if you can and we can all make sure you are ok. Agree withe others you need some proper food and some vitamins at the very least. Is it worth dipping into your funds and getting some hot meals delivered?
Food for me has been freezer sourced as per the plan. Last night was a quarter pound burger done on the table top grill with bacon emmental cheese mushrooms and a big fat salad.....scrummy. Tonight it may well be liver again which is no problem I have some spuds so mash it is then. Also need to use some sad looking bananas and apples so thinking a crumble or cake not sure which it is yet.

Good morning everyone,
Oh no PN not the best time to be coming down with any sort of lurgy, are you able to self isolate?
Wasn't the moon beautiful? The weather very obligingly stayed clear though it's dull and cloudy now. If it stays dry I'll get some more done outdoors later. I've given a load of veg seeds and pots to my neighbour's kids (social distancing observed), another wee project to keep them occupied as they are getting a bit fed up with not being at school.
Red onion, pesto and goat's cheese tart tonight. Apart from caramelising the onions there's not much prep as I'm cheating and using bought puff pastry and pesto. We'll have the tart with salad and a baked spud. Lunch will be the last of the broccoli soup.

All sorted. Whatever it was has retreated.... glands popped down, throat's not swollen. Just a minor little sniff... the sort of little sniff that would annoy anybody in earshot.
Good to go again. Told you I'm "never ill"2 -
Glad you're good to go PN2

It may be worth picking up some cheap hay fever tablets PN I pick up boxes of 30 one a day ones very reasonably priced on Ama*on but Wilko's and Savers also do cheap packs now. The pollen count is on the rise with the nice weather.

'morning allThanks for suggestions on paying for shopping when bought by others, I never knew Paypal offered that option. I'll be speaking to ND wen she brings tomorrows shopping so may have a better understanding thenLast night's super moon was bit of a damp squib here due to partial cloudsIt's quite warm but cloudy outside, windows open for fresh air at long lastUsual porridge, lunch, salady & salad cream sarnie, dinner, veering toward nuking a Chinese / Indian MFOThis hot cross bun talk has me thinking, I may try & squeeze them onto my list but I'm wary of overloading ND with running around T*sco getting bits for me, hate to abuse her generosityEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

Hello all.Feel better soon please PN. That 'fortisip' is quite helpful although its very expensive I have on occasion had a bottle or two of it, it does work well to 'keep you going' if you're not up to eating. I have a small "summer cold" but that's quite normal for me, and I actually feel cold quite a bit of the time too (temp is normal or fractionally below) but again that's not too far off for me. Vitamins not a bad idea. Perhaps even some instant cup-soup would be a thought if you're not up to 'doing anything' for the day.One thing I have not found out about they say it can stay on surfaces for a few days (length various on surface type) in some cases, but lets say you got a jar of something with it on the outside from the shop then put said jar in the fridge unopened to store it, would the drop in temp to 1-5c mean the bugs would live/suspended state and not naturally die off after 1-3 days ? If you want a practical example the pot of meat paste I got the other day went into the fridge and its still there. Mind you a good wipe down on the outside would fix it no doubt. Logic to me says the bug would last longer in that state.Oh for those who were possibly expecting a "try to isolate" letter but have not had one (like me) I heard on the news conference yesterday apparently another batch of letters is being sent out. That wuold make sense, my surgery gave me the run around when I enquired last week via email. Long story. Bear in mind I expect postal service is a bit sluggish too of late but expected. I plan on not speaking to surgery again until next week as last time they simply copied/pasted the gov site info into my reply almost completely ignoring what I had written. I'd normally say "um lol" (to myself) but its not a funny matter!Unsure on lunch just yet, I must go to the shop for essentials as I put it off yesterday and missed a few things on the previous visit a few days before that. If there's a queue waiting outside the BM then I'll not wait and just get a few 'two days essentials' from the small shop and do the BM one later in the week. I may be happy today with a nice beef broth soup and perhaps once its hot break a couple of crackers into it or something. Just not sure yet.2

There are a lot of people "just getting by", they've worked out their systems... and advice/help has slid past them... they live alone and get by ... until now.
Here's one: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8195227/Widower-70-lived-solely-Dominos-pizza-delivery-no-one-shopping-him.html
I've also seen on my local FB feed, a woman locally is a carer and had called at her client's house, as she was leaving she heard a tap on a window from next door.... where she found a 95 year old woman with no food, petrified to go out. Didn't know what to do or who she could trust... she knocked as she saw the carer's uniform. She was quickly sorted, with groceries brought immediately and hooked into local meal services etc.
But there must be many out there. When this is over we'll see stories filtering through of "body found" I bet.4 -

my local counsellor got in touch with everyone on our estate to help us set up a buddy scheme, each cul de sac has identified people in need of help and there is a buddy they can get in touch with whenever they need anything, we also have a facebook group that people can post offers/requests onI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I think you're completely right in that there will be a few found
Around here the elderly neighbours (there are not many) do have regular family carers anyway so there's not a concern. The slightly nonsensical reply received when I enquire about no letter did make me concerned but I am fortunate in that I -can- go out, the letter is reassurance rather than anything else. I'd not even think of using it for any kind of "free foods" gain. However the "value" of the letter to me is to ensure certain other people give me the extra breathing space I justifiably need because of health, because of my conditions I very easily fall through the cracks unfortunately!
I think I was just saying really that I saw on the conference yesterday they were sending a fresh batch of letters out so if you think you are due one it may still arrive in the next few days.I do keep an eye out (without going out) on a few neighbours though but as I say most live with or are visited a couple of times a week via other family members who do their shopping even in 'normal times' so there's no immediate concernBM queue outside so did not want to hang about 40 minutes, managed with few oddments from local corner shop. I think its therefore going to be either a peas/carrots mix for late lunch or a beef broth, unfortunately a lack of potato's in the house is a bit annoying.
